About

Built on the solid, classic rock foundation of three-part harmonies and dual guitar leads, Canada's Juno Award-winning Sheepdogs blend Southern rock, groove-based psychedelia, and bluesy barroom swagger into a modern rock & roll revival. Emerging in 2004, the band found mainstream success in 2010 with the release of their platinum-selling third LP, Learn & Burn, and continued to top the Canadian charts with efforts like The Sheepdogs (2012), Future Nostalgia (2015), Changing Colours (2018), and Outta Sight (2022).

Hailing from the Saskatchewan city of Saskatoon, the band features the talents of Ewan Currie (vocals, guitar), Ryan Gullen (bass), Sam Corbett (drums), Shamus Currie (keyboard/trombone) and Rick Paquette (guitar). From Canadian roadhouses to global music festivals, their on-stage and on-road hours are countless, underscoring their endurance in the music scene. The release of Future Nostalgia and Changing Colours further enriched their discography, leading up to the 2022 release of the jubilant hook-filled Outta Sight, solidifying their impact in the rock domain.

Most recently, their singles from Outta Sight spent a cumulative 90 weeks with at least 1 song in the top 20 at Canadian Rock radio. Prior, their hit singles "I Don't Know" and "Feeling Good" both reached Platinum certification, with "The Way It Is" achieving Gold sales. Additionally, the albums Learn & Burn and The Sheepdogs both achieved Platinum status, and to date the band has been nominated for 11 JUNO awards, winning four.

Sheepdogs prove that rock music is still alive.

by ToughCritic on 9/26/12Bowery Ballroom - New York

The Sheepdogs are perhaps the only modern purveyor of something that used to have many practitioners: straight ahead, high qualtiy, progressive hard rock. Their twin lead approach is heir to everyone from the Allman Brothers to Wishbone Ash, without being derivative of any of them. They combine solid material with excellent musicianship, intricate arrangements, and a charismatic, fun-loving stage presence. They are also masters of the subtle but important art of translating good studio material to a live presentation that ups the excitement level without sacrificing the integrity of the song. Even the live sound mix was excellent (a moderately uncommon outcome, in my extensive experience). Perhaps most impressive, the overwhelming majority of the crowd was young - in their 20s - - not a bunch of "fossils" living in the past, despite the arguable fact that the Sheepdogs' style is more reminiscent of late 60s/early 70s approaches than anything current. Best show I've seen in years.

    The Real Deal

by JohnnySheepdog on 9/25/12Bowery Ballroom - New York

These guys have brought back a generation of music that most of us were too young to experience. If you have any interest in classic rock, you must see this band. They are fantastic live! Totally fun and entertaining the whole TWO hours they played! Tons of solos and straight jamming out in the middle of songs. I guarantee that they will not disappoint!

This was such a great event...the Bowery Ballroom is always a good space and The Sheepdogs filled each corner with their 70s-esque grooves. I brought quite a few friends with me that had never heard of them before and they all left fans.

The Sheepdogs rock the Bowery Ballroom

by RustyJames on 9/25/12Bowery Ballroom - New York

I have loved The Sheepdogs from the first song I heard them play at the Great Escape festival in Brighton, UK and I was blown away by their show at the Bowery Ballroom in New York. Their anthemic songs, 70s sound and brilliant musicianship make them a truly special band. All the best to them!

The Sheepdogs were outstanding ! Great Show Saturday in New York City... I follow this great band since we saw them on the Jimmy Fallon show in June, 2011. We were in the audience. Great soul, and, they perform like they enjoy performing... Like Derek Jeter.. Rock on forever!!! Hope to catch them in Montreal.

    Sheepheads LOVED IT

by Fanie on 9/24/12Bowery Ballroom - New York

By far, one of the best venues ever attended. No barricade to reach stage, and even in the back of the room, by the bar, you are close to the stage. Sound was phenominal, not too loud, right by the speaker, but loud enough to JAM OUT. The Sheepdogs were great! Not only played an amazing set and two encores, they were totally friendly and willing to talk with fans after the show. If you haven't already seen the Sheepdogs live, or been to the Bowery Ballroom...it's time to do so.

    A rocking good show

by Giovanna8 on 9/24/12Bowery Ballroom - New York

These guys played a tight set, kicking off with their hits and playing back to back songs with little interruption. They brought the energy and the crowd loved it. I saw them at Mountain Jam this summer and they were just as good. For a band that won a Rolling Stone contest, they are the real deal. Go see them.

    Absolutely great!

by Skirmsc on 9/18/12The Rapids Theatre - Niagara Falls

Venue was great. Sheepdogs and Yukon blonde were fantastic. They both put on a great high energy show. Both bands hung out after to talk and sign autographs which was really cool.

    WOW!!! what an amazing show!

by Evolve on 12/22/11Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

All 3 seeds bands rocked it pretty well. Monster truck were tight and had a great sound. But the Sheepdogs were really unbeleivable! They are the epitome of rock. I swear these guys have been sent forward in time from the 70's. Its been a long time since a group has been able to harness that kind of sounds with an originality that looks, feels and sounds authentic. Very impressed. I also saw them open for Kings of Leon last month but this show's perfomance far exceeded that one. I will see them again next time they come will out a doubt!!!!
