It was a wonderful afternoon. The venue was comfortable, and accommodating. The acting was amazing, and the post show conversation was a great way to sum it up.
My wife and I had a fantastic evening at the Screwtape Letters play. Neither of us had been to a play before and didn’t really know what to expect. The actor was phenomenal and kept everyone’s attention well. Truly enjoyed everything about the night.
To begin with, the show started nearly 20 minutes late. The group I went with totally agreed that Wormwood should have been on stage. We thought of many ways that could have been accomplished. He is an important part of the story. Overall, the experience was underwhelming.
Max McLean was impressively amazing! The production brought the book to life in an interesting and entertaining way. Humor, drama and intrigue were intertwined keeping me on the edge of my seat. The lessons shared through the message of the performance were timeless and oh so relevant for today because it is the truth! I highly recommend this production. Don’t think about it, Get your tickets!
It was extremely confusing with lines for will call, purchase and entrance into the theater all crossing into each other. I suggest do security at the very front of the line so nobody can sneak past it which was easy to do as my husband was able to meet me as I was in line while he parked the car. I told him to go back through security. Many people didn't get tickets in the mail so they had to go to will call. The show was great but I see great room for the entering into the building.
Great seats with great view even in the balcony. Excellent sound. Ver enjoyable afternoon.
The actor playing Screwtape made an astounding presentation , speaking on stage for an hour and a half, continuously, with no breaks and no mistakes. The energy and his interpretation of the script gave the audience a phenomenal gift of his talent.
Loved The Screwtape Letters! The main problem with turning a C.S. Lewis book into a play, however, is that we don't have the opportunity to ponder the ideas expressed -- each piece of wisdom and theology cannot get the time and attention it deserves. But it was very well-executed.
The performance was fantastic, expertly and brilliantly delivered. Wormwood was beautifully played by the actor. It’s a shame that this performance doesn’t have greater exposure to a larger audience. Wonderful, I hope to see it again soon!
My wife and I are season ticket holders to the opera. I have NEVER seen such a disorganized mess at the Harrison as I did with Seven Venues. There were long lines for entry and Will Call and I think purchasing tickets as well. Those lines intertwined and were in no way discernible from the mosh-pit of people forced to wait or wade through the lobby. Obviously no preparation for the number of Will Calls, the delays due to security screening (a joke) or the show start time, which ended up being 10 minutes (at least) late, with people still coming in almost 1/2 hour after the show was supposed to start. You had three sets of outer doors, which could have been used for people with tickets, people purchasing tickets and Will Calls. The inner doors could have likewise been used to take tickets from people who had them vs people who were picking them up. With Security screening, something in the online process should have noted to arrive early - we got there 15 minutes early, which for opera is actually enough time to get a drink before the show. The line was outside and around the corner in the parking lot. The show was amazing, but after the frustration and aggravation of getting into the theater, I would be hesitant to participate in another Seven Venue "special" ...
A true to the book work that incorporates some additional subtle modern flare, this clever, fantastic, and well polished performance is highly recommended!
It was fantastic... So well presented. I’m so glad I went. Still thinking about it A week later.
This is an amazingly engaging performance on many levels: Spiritual, academic, entertainment at its best. The Harrison Opera House system was not prepared for the crowd nor was there direction for the many, many attendees picking up tickets at will call. Long lines outside on a very hot afternoon. Total mess in the lobby. Thankfully, the performance took our minds off that prelude and all left in a better state of mind.
Excellent Show. Well acted and very applicable to today's society. Highly recommend. C.S. Lewis was a brilliant author.
The ushers and management at the Harrison Opera House allows people to be seated continuously for the first 20 minutes! Lights and noise ruined the opening. Completely unacceptable. I would not go again with this type of disorganization.
The Screwtape Letters was a fantastic adaptation of the C.S. Lewis classic! The acting by the lead and supporting actor was spot on and brought the story to life in an eerie way. I would go see this again in a minute! My only complaint is about the venue itself. While the Harrison Opera House is a beautiful venue, the entry to the event was handled poorly. On a day where the heat index topped 100 degrees, only one set of doors was opened and the line stretched down the street to get into the venue. If you left your tickets at Will Call, you then had to stand in line for another 10-15 minutes to get your tickets. The Will Call line wrapped around inside the lobby area in a confusing manner and people kept trying to cut in front of the line.
One of the best performances I have ever seen. Very thought provoking content.
Screwtape Letters was amazing. Outstanding acting by the two performers. Great set, lighting, and sound. We were thoroughly impressed and moved by everything. Thank you!!
The actor, performed incredibly. I could not believe he memorized the entire dialog.
