Vector Arena is proud to present the Americana roots blues party that is The Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band at The Great South Pacific Tuning Fork, Friday 26th February 2016.
Hailing from Indiana, Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band has always been strong on authenticity, playing music that blends blues, ragtime, folk, country and other traditional styles with the sleek modern energy of do-it-yourself, homespun, punk fueled rock. It’s a mix that’s allowed the band to win fans from all corners of the Americana and rock worlds, and introduce a new generation to blues and American roots music.
Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band bridges genres and eras with an intensity and effortlessness few contemporary artists possess. Their latest and fifth full-length album So Delicious — which includes Breezy Peyton on washboard and supporting vocals and Ben Bussell on drums and supporting vocals elevates the trio’s work to a new level. Produced by Rev. Peyton, So Delicious offers the band’s most diverse collection of songs buoyed by the Rev.’s supercharged six-string virtuosity — a unique style of fingerpicking inspired by his Delta blues heroes, but taken to new, original heights.
Some listeners have a hard time believing all of the Rev.’s extraordinary guitar performances are recorded live with no overdubs — until they see the Big Damn Band in concert. “Pot Roast & Kisses” is a radiant example of his nimble style, weaving two melodies, thumb plucked bass lines and bright decorative filigrees into a graceful, upbeat blend.
With a string of billboard charting albums under their belt and multiple performances at prestigious festivals such as the famed Austin City Limits, Glastonbury, Bonnaroo, WOMAD, Telluride, All Good, King Biscuit, Juke Joint and Riot festivals, Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band are a live act you don’t want to miss.
“When people hear So Delicious and see us play live, I think they understand that what we’re singing about is real to us,” the Rev. says. “We believe in the stories we’re telling and in the way we play. And when we’re on stage or off, there’s nothing fake about us. We are what we do, and I’m proud of that.”

Awesome show! Would have rather the WHOLE show been Peyton's songs tho....
A different from what we expected, but a good show nonetheless
I saw them for the 1st time on New Years Ever 2012 in Bloomington. I had no idea what to expect. They blew me away! An absolutely awesome experience and I will definitely see them again. Their timing is perfect, tons of energy, they clearly enjoy what they are doing...very entertaining. And loud! They reminded me of Flogging Molly. Rev Peyton has wicked guitar skills.
It was epic. Completely and wonderfully epic. It was my first time seeing the band live and I must and will see them again!!
The Rev and Breezy Peyton are excellent performers and engaged the crowd easily and often. Rev is an outstanding guitarist and a showman with his guitar, playing it behind his head and then playing 2 songs at once. His rendition of "Auld Lang Syne" at midnight was amazing.
Amazing energy - amazing musicianship - amazing passion and joy - the best! We see them every time they play NYC.
The Big Damn Band does it again! Endless energy and hard bluegrass that's tough enough to grow hair on your chest. So much fun, and Mercury Lounge was a great venue for them!
Saw the Reverend and his Big Damn Band at Jammin' Java in Vienna, Virginia. Great show; great energy ... had the place hopping.
First time I heard the Tillers and I like them. I really like the Big Damn band. The venue not so much. A concrete basement two floors down. Only the bodies of the crowd to absorb the sound. My db meter hit peaks of 106 thirty feet from the stage. The sound wore me out before the end. the lounge area made a good haven. The damn Band didn't bring enough cds. I couldn't buy one of each of the lot. I had to pick and choose. Good music to boogey to when I have some control.
Overall, this was a good time. The music was fun (although somewhat repetitious) and the musicians were entertaining to watch. The Reverend is a good guitarist and I loved his many guitars, especially the cigar box one. The opening act was pretty awesome too. I would definitely go to see these folks again, but hopefully at a venue that has seats.
The Tillers opened up, and then Rev. Breezy and Cuz blew us away. Music was great, though a bit heavy on bass. Wished they would go on before 10 pm though.
Reverend Peyton is destined to be remembered as a legendary guitar player by future players in the next century. How could anybody walking the earth today take a chance on missing witnessing a piece of history in the making?
Reverend Peyton put on and amazing show. I can't wait until they come back to town. i wont miss it for anything
The first time you see these guys and of course Breezy live you're in complete awe, and an instant fan. There's no other show like it, and no one plays vintage guitars like the Reverend . There's always a crowd of their following - that's entertaining in itself -, but it's a huge treat to take someone for the first time. No question -- Go out of your way to see this band WHENEVER you get the opportunity to see them locally.
The show was awesome! I had great time. There wasn't a dull moment. The music was great, and they put on an amazing show. The crowd was clapping and singing along the whole time.
Always have a great time with this trio! Great show to watch, great crowd to be in, and you can always count on the Reverend and his Big Damn Band to be entertaining! Can't wait to see them next Thanksgiving :)
This was the sixth Rev Peyton concert I have been to. They are always high energy and never disappoint.
A fantasitc show by a great band! Happy New Years!
Although an opening act was not listed anywhere, the Cox Brothers and Harsh Reality put on some really great original music prior to the Reverend's act. We got there early and were able to sit on the sidelines on a church pew and watch most of their music. When the Rev came on at 11 pm, we had to stand as the floor filed up with all the concertgoers. Rev Petyon and band was extremely high energy and entertaining. The problem with the whole event was the venue. The Bluebird smelled bad and was dark and dank. The worst part was the water dripping from the ceiling and landing on our heads during the Reverends show! Not sure if the roof was leaking or if it was coming from the air handler. At any rate, it made it hard to enjoy. I will never go back to the Bluebird for any event.
