About

The Phantom is back! Cameron Mackintosh presents a revitalized new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera. Rapturously received by London critics, this production features Maria Bjornson's stunning original design and the celebrated direction of Harold Prince with Gillian Lynne's choreography. Phantom returns "more spectacular than ever" (Sunday Express).

THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA is widely considered one of the most beautiful and spectacular productions in history, playing to over 160 million people in 47 territories and 195 cities in 21 languages. Andrew Lloyd Webber's romantic, haunting, and soaring score includes "The Music of the Night," "All I Ask of You," "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again," "Masquerade," and the iconic title song. It tells the tale of a disfigured musical genius known only as 'The Phantom' who haunts the depths of the Paris Opera House. Mesmerized by the talents and beauty of a young soprano, Christine, The Phantom lures her as his protege and falls fiercely in love with her. Unaware of Christine's love for Raoul, The Phantom's obsession sets the scene for a dramatic turn of events where jealousy, madness, and passions collide.

Andrew Lloyd Webber's THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, originally produced by Cameron Mackintosh and The Really Useful Group, has become one of the most successful shows in the world. The original London stage production is now the second longest-running musical ever. It opened on Broadway on January 26, 1988, directed by Harold Prince. It won seven 1988 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, and reigned as the longest-running show in Broadway history since January 9, 2006, when it surpassed Andrew Lloyd Webber's Cats, also produced by Cameron Mackintosh. The New York production played a staggering nearly 13,981 performances, been seen by 20 million people and grossed over $1.4 billion. After an unprecedented 35 record-breaking years, the Broadway production played its final performance on April 16, 2023.

There have been three U.S. National Tours based on the original Broadway production. The First National Tour played Los Angeles and San Francisco for a combined total run of almost 10 years, playing 3,902 performances to 6.6 million people. The Second National Tour had an 8.5-year run playing 3,364 performances to 7.5 million people. The Third National Tour had an 18-year run, playing 7,284 performances to 16.7 million people. The three U.S. national tours played 216 engagements in 77 cities for an unprecedented total of 36.5 years and over 14,500 performances to 31 million people - making it the most successful and longest-running touring show in U.S. history.

  • MUST SEE!

by Sarah on 12/2/25Orpheum Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

I was blown away by this performance. This was my first time seeing the play and I could not have been more impressed with the vocals, costumes, technicality like the moving chandelier and stage props, and professionalism. I will definitely be seeing it again in the future.

  • Loved the musical, not the location!

by AB on 12/2/25Orpheum Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

We loved the musical! The cast was fantastic! There was a technical difficulty that paused the show towards the end but they were able to fix it quickly and keep going. That said, I wouldn’t return to Orpheum Theatre in Minneapolis. The area seemed a little sketchy, and every restaurant within walking distance was closed. 5 stars for Phantom of the Opera! 1 Star for the Orpheum/area!

Wonderfully performed throughout, with an absolutely stellar cast.

  • Phantom

    by Jerry M on 12/1/25Orpheum Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

The performance, staging, and theatrical effects were magnificent. Additionally, the Orpheum is a wonderful theater for the play - intimate and yet not so small as to diminish the staging or theatrical effects. This was the third different production we have seen and it was probably the best.

  • Spectacular

We have seen Phantom several times. This was a great refresh with the updated staging. Each set piece was a work of art. Would highly recommend and would certainly see it again!

  • Phenomenal

by Stan on 11/27/25Orpheum Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

I have waited 31 years to see this! Worth the wait! Best cast ever! I’ve never experienced the overture in its full glory and it gave me goosebumps. I smiled the whole time. I would love to see it every day until the run is done. Isaiah Bailey’s voice was gorgeous as were Christine’s and Raoul’s, and the rest of the cast. Pure talent. The smoke and mirrors effects were amazing. I appreciated the artistry of it more than ever. I was in the chorus at 17 years old and know the hard work that goes into creating an entrancing show and experience such as this. The set was sublime and simply amazing. When the chandelier both ascended and “crashed” was beyond words. I could go on and on singing the entire cast and crews praises, however, I will conclude with these two words: thank you.

I have been waiting for this show all my life and I finally got the chance to go and it did not disappoint. Vocal performances were perfect, stage design was incredible, and audience was into it. They have it down after some 1st show hiccups I previously read about. The Phantom is here and he is back! Go see it!
