About

There was no doubt that the Misfits had earned their status as punk rock icons when their latest release, Dead Alive – featuring live material taken from two back-to-back concerts the band gave at the Starland Ballroom in 2011 – was released in February 2013. The album came just as the punk pioneers kicked off their 2013 American tour, a spirited series of shows that brought their classic, horror-influenced punk-metal to a whole new generation of ticket buyers. Bassist and frontman, Jerry Only, is at peak form in a concert setting, belting out fans' latter-day favorites, revealing the music's thrashing metal influence to its fullest effect. Never straying from the band's hard-driving, melodic sensibilities, the setlist delivers amped-up power, and the audience can't help but get revved up right along with it. Dead Alive reached No. 70 on the Billboard Top 200, and it showcases an intense atmosphere, as the band proves that even after all these years, the Misfits can still deliver the goods.

Emerging in 1977, the Misfits set the stage for a new subgenre of hardcore. Frontman Glenn Danzig's affinity for classic horror movies and literature gave the band a year-round Halloween flavor. Mixing this flair for theatrics with a hard, primal sound quickly sucked in a cult of dedicated fans. After Danzig's departure in 1983 and a couple of changes in lineup, the band pressed on. With the addition of punk veterans Dez Cadena and Marky Ramone, Jerry Only stepped up as frontman, and the band enjoyed a revitalized resurgence. With song titles like "Crawling Eye," "Night of the Living Dead" and "We Bite," the band's love of classic B-grade horror movies is evident. They reflect this love, coming at the listener in torrents of fright-filled energy. The perfect blend of punk and metal allows snarling vocals and thrashing guitars to war for dominance.

    138 MARTIAN SKULLS WITH ATTITUDE

    by MAXIMUS ERECTUS on 7/19/23

We must be 100% total fiends to be in PHX,AZ when it was a cool mild 116 degrees in the shade in the lawn seats under the fans turned on high when The Misfits started playing. The big red led sign said 133 degrees on stage. Unless I was delusional from the heat, not once did I hear the band lose their timing or skip a beat. None of us are getting any younger. At 47yrs old I was impressed on how they performed in those conditions. Free admission, free beer, free water and free limo rides to and from wherever is about the only things that come to mind that would improve one of my favorite bands for the past 35 years. My wife, my older sister, my niece, and my great niece had a great time. Thats four generations jamming to The Misfits

    More accommodations

    by Mk on 7/18/23

Venue is good but you could do more for high temperatures. Misters up top along the walls… maybe splash pad… even for adults… not enough ways to keep cool. Maybe water refill fountains up top or anywhere for that matter. It shouldnt be about you making money to sell more but to be kind to the planet and not have to buy 2-3 for nothing. More trash cans/ recycling bins too. You have a lot of space to be creative with.

    Amazing show

    by The Infuriator on 7/18/23

The Misfits are playing and sounding great. Amazing seeing this legendary band sell out a 20,000-person amphitheater on the strength of low-budget records from 40 years ago that never got a bit of mainstream radio airplay or love from MTV. Glenn Danzig was smart to sing his parts in an Elvis-like baritone back in the day... he still sounds exactly like he did on the records, unlike so many singers from back then who can't hit their high notes anymore. Doyle's closing in on 60 and he's still in incredible shape-- like a cross between Frankenstein and Lou Ferrigno. They played almost 2 hours outside in Phoenix on a day when the temperature hit 117°! James & Kirk from Metallica deserve a shout-out for wearing Misfits t-shirts going back 30-plus years and promoting their legacy. Much respect... these guys haven't lost a single step.

Great but no cold water tumblers and had sound issues :/

    by Julie on 7/18/23

I purchased Lawn tickets and later upgraded them to the reserved seating section 204. It seems that the ticket upgrade is randomized and, sadly, it gave us terrible seats. The sun was hitting us hard and we couldn't see the opener because it was very bright. Next time I will upgrade and pick another section. I also wish the venue allowed small umbrellas and insulated water bottles because my unopened plastic water bottle turned very hot by the time it was 7:00PM! It was the middle of July in Arizona were it gets to extreme temperatures and I kept thinking about my ice cold Yeti in my car the whole time wishing it could cool me down! I mostly purchased these tickets to see my favorite band AFI, however, it seemed like they were having a lot of sound issues. However, they still gave a great performance. The Misfits were great but, again, the sound was very off. I don't know the sound quality is in other sections of the venue but in the 200s, it is not great. Overall, I still had fun with my friend and the event staff were nice!

    Awesome show!

    by RiverPunk on 7/18/23

Show was amazing. Prices for seats were decent and venue was great. Nothing bad to say on Ticketmaster end, jus as always, wish you could still get ‘physical tickets’. Don’t much care for the mobile online tickets (but ehh that’s just me it is what it is) just wish the option was there and if you could bring that back it’d be awesome (I can’t be the only one haha)

    by SJANECO on 7/18/23

The Misfits were PURE FIRE!! The audience was cooking and it wasn’t because of the 115 temp! Glen, Jerry, Doyle, and Dave were solid- pure talent- sounded amazing!! We were transported back to the 80s and we were psyched about it. The fan base is amazing- all ages!!! So rad. Virtual handshake sent- your talent transends, boys. WE LOVE YOU. Misfits 4Eva

    Old but still kickin it

    by Ray on 7/18/23

Love the misfits! They actually asked the crowd what they wanted to hear and played it which was totally cool! Only downside is they didn't play Helena or vampire girl but oh well. As for the venue, talking stick amphitheater is awesome and I had a great experience there!

    by Fiend on 7/18/23

FEAR, AFI and the MISFITS put on one hell of a show. Talking stick amphitheater is set up perfectly and the stage is huge. If you have a chance to check it out, I highly recommend you do.

This is in my top 2 best shows I've ever seen. The guys killed it on stage, minus the 120 degree weather. The Misfits are definitely a must see!!!
