About

The Offspring are a punk rock band from Garden Grove, California. Led by founding member, lead vocalist and guitarist Dexter Holland since 1986, The Offspring have released 11 studio albums and sold over 40 million records globally. The band’s self-titled debut arrived in 1989, followed by 1992’s Ignition and 1994’s Smash. Behind breakout Mainstream Rock Airplay singles “Come Out and Play,” “Self Esteem” and “Gotta Get Away,” Smash went on to sell over 11 million records, earn six RIAA platinum certifications and set the record for the highest-selling album released by an independent label. Ixnay on the Hombre in 1997 notched The Offspring’s first No. 1 single on the Mainstream Rock Airplay chart with “Gone Away,” while 1998’s Americana hit the band’s chart peak at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 on its way to netting five RIAA platinum certifications and three more Alternative Airplay Top 10 singles: “The Kids Aren’t Alright,” “Pretty Fly (For a White Guy)” and “Why Don’t You Get a Job?” The Offspring later topped the Alternative Airplay chart again with “Hit That” from 2003’s Splinter and “You're Gonna Go Far, Kid” from 2008’s Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace. The Offspring logged two more Mainstream Rock Airplay chart-toppers with “Coming for You” and the title track from 2021’s Let the Bad Times Roll. In 2024, The Offspring released their 12th album Supercharged

  • The Offspring still bring it!

by vjsviking on 7/10/09Starland Ballroom - SayrevilleRating: 4 out of 5

Good show overall. The Offspring still rock. High energy show with a solid band performance. Sound mix was muddled throughout most of the show and there was a grounding problem early on that was causing a ear peircing noise for most of the early songs. Still a great show! Lots of "crowd enthusiasm". if you know what I mean!

  • The Offspring still know how to rock!

    by Enigma649 on 7/10/09Starland Ballroom - SayrevilleRating: 4 out of 5

The Offspring were great at Starland. They played all the classics, like "Bad Habit", "Pretty fly", and "Kids aren't alright" and the best of they're new songs. But I love it when a band does more than just play their songs. Dexter brought out a piano and played a slow but emotional rendition of "Gone away" after playing the peanuts theme song. Also they had an "intermission" during which two Mexican guys in sombreros danced onstage and tossed beach balls into the crowd. It was great to see The Offspring in a small venue and be able to be so close to them. My only complaints are that the set was short, about an hour and a half, and that this was the only date on the tour that Sum 41 didn't play, and I bought tickets before i knew that.

  • Offspring delivered

    by anvil100 on 7/9/09Starland Ballroom - SayrevilleRating: 4 out of 5

LOVE THE OFFSPRING! Attended the concert at the Starland Ballroom. Decent venue for a concert, bars are close, no seat too far from the stage. Building could use some structural updating to remove posts that break your line of sight from the reat section of the club. Opening act was OK. Then came something that appeared unplanned as a guy from England took the stage with an accoustic guitar for over 45 minutes. I felt bad as he received some "negative feedback" from the crowd, but he clearly wasn't what you expected at an Offspring concert. We would have much preferred the opening act to stick around. Then, there was another 30+ minute break to "set up." Everyone seemed to think the Offspring hadn't shown up yet and needed to kill time.

  • the offspring is better than ever

by barbb on 7/9/09Starland Ballroom - SayrevilleRating: 5 out of 5

Seeing offspring again was great. They sound as good as ever and still have the energy. The bonus was definitely Starland Ballroom. The smaller venue is great because no matter where you are you can see them (versus watching some screen). They played all their hits old and new.

  • Absolutely amazing!! Offspring at their finest

    by JoJoBean25 on 7/9/09Starland Ballroom - SayrevilleRating: 5 out of 5

I've seen them twice before this show and have enjoyed them every time. Maybe it was the fact that it was a smaller venue than I'm used to seeing them at, but they rocked the place from start to finish! They played ALL the singles, very few new ones, and a couple of surprises. If you weren't there, you missed out!!

  • Awesome Performance!!!

    by Porkchop2 on 7/9/09Starland Ballroom - SayrevilleRating: 4 out of 5

Offsring is my favorite punk rock band. Their performance was awesome, they performed all the songs I wanted to hear.

  • Pretty Fly, Indeed

by MarieNicole on 7/9/09Starland Ballroom - SayrevilleRating: 5 out of 5

The Offspring was energetic and animated from the second they went on stage. They opened with Stuff is Messed Up, which makes tons of sense since that's the track the tour was named for. They kept things movie, not wasting too much time chatting in between songs. I would have paid twice what I did to see them.

  • Offspring

    by Jacrn993 on 7/9/09Starland Ballroom - SayrevilleRating: 4 out of 5

Offspring put on an EXCELLENT show. Full of high energy and great lighting!

  • Offspring concert

    by shadow000 on 7/9/09Starland Ballroom - SayrevilleRating: 5 out of 5

Concert was awesome! I never saw Offspring before, but they kicked ass! The intermission (as a songs and as an act) was great, there were two balls flying around and two guys on the stage juggling and waving hands. Pretty funny. The tracklist was Ok. Couple of songs from Smash, couple from Ixnay on the Hombre, couple from Americana, most from the latest album. The turnoff was that they started playing only around 10pm, although doors opened at 7pm, 3 hours of waiting. Plus there was so many people that the place was literally packed! Almost impossible to get to the bar to grab a beer and forget about the bathrooms. Overall - very positive experience.

  • So much energy

by cjss on 7/9/09Starland Ballroom - SayrevilleRating: 4 out of 5

Very good show opening band sucked Frank Ryan? and the sound system was buzzing w/ feedback but once they got that fixed it was a really great show. I would go see them again.

  • Offspring was OFF the hook

by ShoreDog on 7/9/09Starland Ballroom - SayrevilleRating: 5 out of 5

The show was amazing. the energy level was great . I was glad I waited to see them at this small venue rather than seeing them in may at the susquehanna center in camdem. The starland ballroom is the best place in jersey to see any band but when you get to see a band of the caliber of the offspring it is even better.

  • The Offspring at Starland Ballroom

    by ptrainer62 on 7/9/09Starland Ballroom - SayrevilleRating: 5 out of 5

The Offspring totally blew me away! These guys have so much energy it was infectious. Offspring was extremely entertaining and their sound was awesome considering many bands suck when they play live! One of the most underrated alt rock bands in history, Offspring played all of their memorable songs and the audience was so intune with the guys. I must say, I would see them EVERYTIME they play at Starland!

  • Offspring Rocks

by toaster on 7/9/09Starland Ballroom - SayrevilleRating: 4 out of 5

the Offspring was awesome however the venue was crazy - too many people packed into that small place - never again!!

  • Good band, poor sound

by newnickname on 7/9/09Starland Ballroom - SayrevilleRating: 4 out of 5

The event was well organized and Offspring delivered a great show. However, the sound was awful in the first 20 minutes. During the second song, everything seemed to have failed except for the bass. Later, there was a lot of static. However, after approx 20 minutes it got better and was enjoyable.

  • The Offspring still got it!

by Dirk on 7/9/09Starland Ballroom - SayrevilleRating: 4 out of 5

The second The Offspring got on stage, the entire venue went ballistic, and you instantly knew you were going to see a great show that night. The Offspring's blend of high energy, usually fast paced music brings the intensity of a mosh pits and crowd surfing to the audience. However, their diversity of mellow reggae songs, and super catchy choruses will bring the crowd down to a friendly sing along atmosphere as well. The Offspring rocked out for a solid 90 minutes, delivering all their hit songs (that even if you bring some one who claims they had never heard of them, they'll still be able to instantly recognize a minimum of 3 of their songs) and getting the crowd into it. The only problem was the price of the tickets considering the bands playing. After paying $40 a ticket, plus convenience fees and parking I'd expect 1 or 2 good opening acts. However, there was only 1 opening act, who was a solo artist, Frank Turner. Although his music might be good in its own right, it did not match the vibe or styling for a crowd waiting to see the Offspring... It's not surprising at all that he actually ended up getting booed off stage. Next time I'd like to see more than 1 guy with an acoustic guitar singing, how about an actual band that can get the audience pumped up.

  • unbelievably high-energy

by dgleeman on 7/9/09Starland Ballroom - SayrevilleRating: 5 out of 5

Fantastic. Truly, fantastic. High energy, great crowd, and their playing was top-notch. I would go to this again tomorrow night. And the next night. It was unbelievable.

  • Offspring put on an amazing show!!

by KingEric on 7/8/09Starland Ballroom - SayrevilleRating: 5 out of 5

They really know how to keep the crowd going, played most of the hits as well as a good mix from Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace. I really enjoyed the set...wished Sum 41 would have opened, standing through two no name openers was not that great, especially Frank Turner. Starland is a great place to see a show, but almost the entire place turns into a giant moshpit!!! Beware if you don't like those kind of things, sort of took me by surprise, but I did really enjoy it a lot. Didn't want the show to end!!!!

  • Amazing

    by jerzii07 on 7/8/09Starland Ballroom - SayrevilleRating: 5 out of 5

They were amazing at this show. The Offspring sounds even better than when they came out. A ton of energy. Great show. Probably one of the best I've been to.

  • everything I expected

    by michele6952 on 7/8/09Starland Ballroom - SayrevilleRating: 5 out of 5

despite the huge crowd, the staff was awesome as usual, the venue was clean as possible and of course the band was amazing!! Starland is the best venue, period. A once in a lifetime experience to share The Offspring with my 2 kids!!!!

  • crazy concert

    by dirtyboy257 on 7/8/09Starland Ballroom - SayrevilleRating: 5 out of 5

this concert was nasty. im not gunna lie, i thought it was going to be a somewhat mellow concert concerning offspring arent that heavy, but i was wrong. the entire place was filled with energy and it was probably one of the best concerts ive been to. the entire room in the pit was being pushed and everyone got really into it. people were crowdsurfing and had loads of fun. the actual mosh pit was nasty and the entire experience was just nasty as hell.
