About

THE O'JAYS IN CONCERT:

When it comes to classy, color-coordinated, old-school soul showmanship, nobody can touch the O'Jays. Taking the stage in matching suits to perform beloved classics from their decade-spanning catalog, the debonair trio never fails to transport audiences back to the good old days of "Love Train" and "For the Love of Money." Hot off the heels of their 2013 induction into the R&B Music Hall of Fame, the O'Jays will treat fans to several highly anticipated appearances in 2014.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Formed in Ohio in 1958, The O'Jays experienced moderate success throughout the '60s with a string of minor hits like "Lonely Drifter" and  "Lipstick Traces." On the verge of calling it quits in the early '70s, the band finally got their big break after signing to Philadelphia International for their platinum-selling 1972 single "Back Stabbers." The song established them as a key player in the Philadelphia soul movement, a funk-infused brand of soul that pioneered many of the elements later adopted by disco. A string of hits would follow throughout the '70s, including epochal No. 1 smash "Love Train," creating a legacy the band continues to honor today with their spirited performances on tour.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"They sounded great and put on a really great show. They sang all of their popular songs, ending with For the Love of Money...which brought the house down. Everyone was on their feet, dancing and singing and really enjoying the show."

"This was a great show. They performed their old-school moves and wore matching outfits, something you don't see with ‘newer’ performers."

"The show was awesome. The O'Jays took me down memory lane and back. The show was attended by ages 20-80 and all had a great time."

    Nostalgic

by Qmi on 4/2/24Crown Coliseum - Fayetteville

O'Jays were excellent!! First time seeing them in person. My wife flew all the way from Jamaica to share the experience. It was lovely!! Glad I was able to experience such a concert. If only the sound quality was better I would have rated it 5 stars ..had some challenges hearing all the words of the songs especially when Johnny Gill performed...bass was too much.

Good concert. I wish the sitting was better. Such a small venue and still have to watch the screen to enjoy.

    The O'Jays still got it.

by Billy on 11/22/23The Andrew J Brady Music Center - Cincinnati

I first saw the O'Jay's in 1978 at the Cincinnati Jazz Festival at Riverfront Stadium. In 2023, their singing and showmanship was just as entertaining as it was then, 45 years ago. They performed all of their major songs and did not miss a beat. The sound and quality was excellent. The show started about 20 minutes later than the schedule, but overall it was a great show.

    BEST SHOW IN YEARS

by Cookie on 11/22/23The Andrew J Brady Music Center - Cincinnati

The concert was an excellent experience! I haven’t seen them live in about 20 years; so I was thoroughly excited to go! They didn’t let me down! Although I love The group, my personal favorite has always been Walter Williams!! Wonderful Beautiful arena, also! You could see the stage from any seat, although not many people were in their seats anyway! LOVE TO THE O’JAYS!!!!

    Terrible Venue

by Raymo on 11/22/23MGM Northfield Park - Center Stage - Northfield

The O'Jays were great however the venue was terrible. The folding chairs we had to sit on were hard and too close together and the floor was flat and not sloped so if someone sitting in front of you was tall or was wearing a hat you couldn't see the stage. During the entire concert I felt like a sardine in a small can. Every time they tuned on the stage lights the audience got blinded by the bright lights. The acoustics was also terrible. I've attended many concerts and this by far was the worst venue ever.

    Too Short

by Cincygma on 11/22/23The Andrew J Brady Music Center - Cincinnati

Great seats for the money. Good interaction with the audience but, way to short. Concert was less than 2 hours (not sure it was even 1 1/2.

by Lynxkaren on 11/22/23The Andrew J Brady Music Center - Cincinnati

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed this show. Grew up listening, dancing and singing along to this music! It was especially cool that Eddie Lavert graced the stage! The venue was great, bc there are probably very few seats that aren’t ’good’. So glad we were able to see this show!!
