  • Fun, fun and more fun

by ChanFan on 12/6/21State Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

The New Standards alone are great but with so many other talented artists joining them, it was over the top! The costumes, the special effects and the voices - just pure joy! The right amount of on stage chatter to make us feel included. And I appreciated that vaccine proof was required and we were all masked.

  • It's just not Christmas without them!

by KrisCamp on 12/11/19State Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

Have you ever gone to what you knew would be a great show, and left thinking I have no idea what I just experience, except I feel transformed (in a beautiful way)? This show was like being at the warmest home with a great big family and all your favorite people. It was a celebration and a ridiculous amount of fun. Thank you guys!!

We loved the concert! All the performers were great.

  • Not your typical holiday show

by Juls on 12/10/19State Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

I had seen The New Standards twice before in small venues and loved them both times. I wondered how they would play in such a big house. The show was terrific. The sound was good. Visuals were terrific and I loved how it kept surprising me. Just the right amount of inspired silliness and lovely music. Thank you.

  • Great show boys!!

by Laney on 12/10/19State Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

I thought the concert had a different vibe this year, not as much Christmasy but just enough. I loved the variety and also appearance of The Suburbs and Curtiss A made it for me! The poetry readings were very nice too. Thanks for another year.

  • New Family Tradition

by Mark on 12/10/19State Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

A great balance of nostalgia and cool. Respectful campy tribute to musicianship present in all styles of popular songs. Our first time at this show and we look forward to bringing more family next year. Gave us good moods and smiles. Thank you!

  • Three yetis came to a party...

by Georgiagirl on 12/10/19State Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

TNS always delivers a good time. The secret line-up proved quite the surprise this year with the appearance of Santa (John C. Riley). Tina S., Aby, and Cameron were excellent, as always. And then The Suburbs! All of this and we still got dancing Christmas trees, a roving Satan and two, count’em, two inflatable Satans. Oh yes, and four little gnomes. Thanks for an evening of pure fun.

  • Amazing energy, lots of love--a true holiday festival

by Santa on 12/9/19State Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

I went as Santa. Had a front row seat. People in the audience were greeting me, slapping me on the back, asking to take pictures. During the show, the performers acknowledged me from the stage and a couple even high fived me. It was just a wonderful time.

  • Good, but disappointing show

by popspriscilla on 12/10/17State Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

I look forward to the New Standards Holiday Show every year but it's incredible music, Christmas songs, playfulness, and variety. This year was a bit grinch-ish with the holiday songs and playfulness. I guess they didn't feel like getting into the holiday spirit. So, the music was still good but the show didn't seem to have any flow. Also missed the New Standards take on pop songs. With the exception of the cover of U2's Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking for, the other songs were pretty straightforward covers, indistinguishable from the originals. I hope they decide to bring Christmas back next year.

  • Holiday show!

    by Guster1 on 12/7/17State Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

Absolutely fabulous! Put me in the holiday spirit right away!!! I will plan on making this event a yearly tradition for sure!!! Adored all the guests as well!! I loved the mix of Holiday and non Holiday songs as this offers something for everyone!

  • The New Standard in Holiday Shows

by JLeeler on 12/6/17State Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 4 out of 5

The New Standards performed at their usual best and provided an unforgettable line-up of who's who in local musical talent, a good bit of humor and a heart-warming show.

  • Not what I expected, but I liked it

by vernacularengineer on 12/5/17State Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 4 out of 5

Have wanted to get to this holiday event for years, and finally did so with my wife and another couple, who only knew that I was expecting great things. I think they were a little offput at the unconventional song selections, which I can understand. But I loved the thought behind those selections -- the lyrics were really on-point for a season that too often recycles the same-old same-old. State was a great venue. Sheer range of people and performances was outstanding. I respect the risk-taking involved ... and I'll try to talk my companions into attending again next year. Thanks for an entertaining evening.

  • New Standards Christmas Matinee Show

Show was great fun. Performances were all top notch. Took my grandson and he enjoyed it.

  • Amazing Show

by Buckell on 12/5/17State Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

It was an amazing show as usual. It is one of my favorite holiday traditions!

  • NOT a Holiday Show

by ShellyMR on 12/5/17State Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 2 out of 5

This is a gathering of musicians playing non-mainstream music. I knew only 2 songs. If you are a Suburbs fan, you will like this show but don’t expect any Christmas music. None. I’m not familiar with Suburbs music. I came expecting holiday music. Disappointed.

  • New Standards Was Not a Holiday Show

by Anonymous on 12/4/17State Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 3 out of 5

While the music and woven in humor was really good, disappointed at the lack of holiday music. There was the initial song and dancing Christmas trees in the end but it appeared the show featured music from the albums of those in the show. Therefore a bit disappointing from a holiday perspective

  • They never disappoint!

by Poogah on 12/4/17State Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

Such a great way to get into the holiday spirit! Amazing talent, great guests and funny banter...what more can you ask for in a show. Can’t wait til next year!

  • The New Standards Holiday Show

    by Stella1981 on 12/4/17State Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

Chan, John & Steve are amazing musicians, witty and comedic. They know how to showcase their music and yet share the stage with some of the best vocal talent around. This is a must see and every year they sell our three 3 shows. Creative, beautiful and fun! Perfect way to start out your holiday season!

always an easy and fun show...opening tree especially fun

  • No Holiday or Christmas music. Just another show

by ClarkGrissy on 12/4/17State Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 2 out of 5

It says Holiday in the title and I guess it’s during the Holiday season so....that makes it a holiday show?? We were prepared for the racy talk(other reviews make a big deal out of that) but we were not prepared for the open mic talent show we were subjected to(a couple talents were very good while a few were sub-par). It’s a Holiday show and NO Christmas or Holiday music except one, sort-of??? It would make a good News Year’s or any other time of year show but don’t go to hear Holiday music. It appeared as if they were trying to be anti-Holiday in what they said and sang. Again, it would be ok for any other time of year but take Holiday out of your title & why? WHY? will the radio station recording that night re-play it Christmas Day??? There is NOTHING Christmassy about this show!!
