  • Not the best one

by Superbadgrl on 12/7/23State Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 3 out of 5

I have gone to MANY of the holiday shows. This one was lacking big time. The musical guests, song choices etc disappointed my whole group. Guys, I love u but it seems like u spent a week planning this one. Total letdown especially for the price.

  • Meh

by Liza on 12/6/23State Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 3 out of 5

First time seeing this annual holiday show. Honestly I don’t understand the popularity. Instruments blasted over vocals. Reminded me of kids deciding to put on a show in their backyard for the neighborhood. Head shaker about who spends $135/ticket for this!

  • cold leftovers

by wildmutto on 12/5/23State Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 2 out of 5

The show was flat. Liz W was horribly not funny. The show had poor pacing. Chris K's song was awful. Chan's voice is getting weaker. The Mike L comedy skit was not funny. The sauna skit was very boring. The sound mix on any conversation and some of the musically numbers was muddy. Stick to the music and the show/dance numbers and cut the skit stuff. The New Standards need to push forward and stay on the path of reinvention of pop and classic songs done in their style. The audience was one of the rudest bunch I have been around. They need to be quiet and not yell stuff out. They need to shut up when talking to friends next to them. They need to learn how to whisper. They need to put down their phones and enjoy the show. State Theater had blowing cold air on patrons up in the balcony.

  • Devilishly Good!

by Kimberly on 12/5/23State Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

The New Standards Holiday Show ALWAYS delivers. My fave holiday tradition!

  • Great, but not the best!

by NSH on 12/5/23State Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 4 out of 5

Great show but disappointed by the sound quality. Singers were frequently drowned out by the instruments - mostly brass.

  • It was OK, not great as usual

by New Standards Super Fan on 12/5/23State Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 2 out of 5

The show was OK, but definitely below the high standards that we have come to expect each year.

  • Absolutely Brilliant

by Jood on 12/5/23State Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

An absolutely brilliant and fabulous show. It was the first time going to this seasonal phenomenon but it certainly won’t be the last. Excellent performances and such an incredible variety. New Standards Holiday Show is iconic.

  • Always a Great Show

by Mary on 12/4/23State Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

The New Standards Holiday Show is a tradition in our house. I don't think we've missed a year! As usual, the guests were great, but the show seemed just a bit less energetic than other years. Even the line getting into the concert seemed more subdued. Of course, the devil's appearance is a huge hit. We loved the performances of "Downtown"- good message to get people to come back downtown! - and "I Want Candy."Aby Wolf is aways great. Robert Robinson's performance was beautiful. We always love the horns, woodwinds, strings, percussion, and keyboards - and any instrument I might have missed. Some more snow during "Snow Days"would have made the song more magical (maybe it was where we were seated). The disco dance party is so much fun! Please continue this show for as long as possible!

  • Opening Act for our Holidays

    by Linda G on 12/4/23State Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

We go to this show every year, it's always fun and certainly interesting. A most joyful show that brings it on as no other Christmas show does. Full of great music, musicians, talented dancers and tons of laughts.

  • A Tradition of Excellence

by Toolmaster on 12/4/23State Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

Been going to this show since the Fitz days and there’s always something fresh an memorable, from Robert Bly’s joyous energy to the audacity of Matt Wilson’s MacArthur Park. This year was no exception with Robert Robinson’s moving performances.

  • Why are you here? "Because it is so much fun"

by Claude on 12/4/23State Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

"So much fun"is the refrain of the New Sandards concert crowd as we all laughed, sang, cried and cheered our way through the night. I proudly let those sitting around me know "that's my gardener"referring to Stephen Kung on stage playing the trumpet.

  • New Standards in Burnsville

by Lakeville Danny on 2/14/23Ames Center - BurnsvilleRating: 5 out of 5

I’ve been lucky see The New Standards more than a few times so am very familiar with the group. As always, music is so well done, great selection of songs from their playlist, with a very smooth energy. Venue was excellent for this show, we were probably 6 rows from the front and felt I could help them tune their instruments. Very intimate and outstanding acoustics. Always a good evening.

  • A homecoming, a party

by Big Santa on 12/6/22State Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

My own tradition has become getting tickets as close as possible to the stage and dressing as Santa. After a few years of this, now the performers are winking at me, shaking my hand, high fiving me. People in the crowd stop me and want to take pictures. It’s come to feel like a family gathering. There’s love and acceptance there, a real sense of community. Long Live the New Standards!

  • the show was A plus Great songs and stories.

Ticketmaster was very hard to navigate. the tickets never showed up on the computer. You need a better ticket provider.

  • The New Standards at the State Theatre

by JH on 12/6/22State Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 4 out of 5

The show was fabulous!!! Not sure how you could get the crowd inside quicker and out of the cold. Even cold once inside with the way the line wrapped around. But all in all it was wonderful - we are In Minnesota!!!

  • Excellent

by Mia on 12/6/22State Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

Love, love, love this show! Everything was excellent!

  • Better Than Ever!

by MollMcD on 12/6/22State Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

Wow! The boys really came to play this year. The snazzy set matched their snazzy suits and set the evening off right. The music was superb and festive and and made for a night not to be missed. Some needed updating made everything seem fresh and although Tina was sorely missed, Davina was a delightful surprise:)

  • Very Confused

    by JR1969 on 12/6/22State Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 3 out of 5

We (3 couples - 50-60 years old) went to the Saturday evening show. None of us had been. We were expecting a little more "holiday". Other than the first song and the last few, the whole show felt random. We appreciated the musical talent (truly), but it didn't feel like anything was connected or again....very holiday.

  • Terrific holiday tradition!

by Jammer on 12/6/22State Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

The song selection for the 2022 show was fantastic and the delivery was the usual high level quality . Chan, John and Steve do a terrific job of pulling in the very best local talent to put on a great treat. If you have not seen the show, expect a fun, witty, slightly anti Christmas, Christmas show. A joy from start to finish. Abby Wolfs rendition of Silent Night is the best version of the song that I have ever experienced and I would pay for a ticket just to hear her sing that one song!

  • Fantastic show! A new holiday tradition!

by BFinn on 12/6/22State Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

I have been told for years I needed to drive up from Des Moines for this show! It was so much fun! I hope I can secure these “hard to get” tickets every year! The talent is extraordinary!
