Great show had good time one hour thirty minute show. sound like peter singing great show.
The show was absolutely amazing. I was too young to see Genesis with PG but have viewed footage of those concerts on YouTube. This show is as close as you can get without going back in time!!!
After seeing reviews, I was expecting a good show from Musical Box. Their performance was even better than expected. Amazing recreation of Genesis with Peter Gabriel circa 1972. Very talented band really made the recreation come alive. Recommended for fans of early Genesis.
I have seen TMB many times at various venues. This album and BB Kings made it extra special. Killer show.
Perfection. Amazing show. Can't wait to see them again!!
Having seen GENESIS over 20 times with Collins,Rutherford,Banks:Gabriel several times solo,Collins solo,Hackett solo, and Rutherford(Mechanics) this was absolutely as close as I could have imagined in my wildest dreams how they collectively performed "in the day"I did not discover them until 76 and by then Peter Gabriel had left.I quickly immersed myself in all things GENESIS and they belong on the Mount Rushmore of Rock. They are my standard for live performances in to this day bar any of the countless great bands I have seen.THE MUSICAL BOX were ...........sensational in capturing every nuance of this incredible band.Any diehard or even casual fan will be in for a"magical trip back in time".Stellar!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The sound was authentic and excellent. They played to the crowd and were very entertaining
The Musical Box as absolutely amazing!!!!!!!!!..so much like the original Genesis concert...I would go see them again and again....
This particular show stood out for its sound clarity, I've seen this show many times including the other Genesis tour shows and I think this is the best one. Outstanding.
I saw Genesis back in 1973 and this band has them down pat!! Fabulous music and the costumes, banter and performance was perfect. I will make a point of looking for them in the future to see again!!
If you like the original progressive era genesis, this is the show to see.
When it comes to cover bands, a guest expects to be reminded of what the original band created, once upon a time. When a cover band exceeds that expectation tenfold, you have an event of remarkable status. The Musical Box re-created, for those few that were lucky enough to have been there, what it must have been like to see an authentic Genesis show in its original time and space. The costumes, sets, lighting, even the dialogue were performed with the creative enthusiasm of the original. Nothing was left to chance. Every nuance and every bell and whistle and chime were incredibly in place. The bass and drummer spent the entire concert watching each other and anticipating shifts and changes in the music. The guitarist never wavered from the concentration necessary to complete his part. Vocals, keyboards, guitars, drums, have rarely come to such a level of intensity as they did when The Musical Box played at the Holiday Star Theater. I am getting goose bumps just thinking about it.
The Musical Box looks and sounds like Peter Gabriel era Genesis. Excellent musicians working with fine material, including the actual costumes and slides from the original shows. Next best thing to a time machine.
This is the 2nd time that I've seen Musical Box, and I will see them any time they come to the area. If you're a fan of "Gabriel Era" Genesis, these guys duplicate the early Genesis shows to such a degree that it's eerie. You can compare them on YouTube. This concert was a 2 hour flashback to the early '70s.
Hi, I saw the real Genesis and this band does their songs as good if not better than back in the day and Genesis says this too!
Note perfect recreation of some awesome music. One of the ushers said that only four hundred something seats had been sold. So we'll just call it >500 very happy, old prog- heads.
The cover band Musical Box playing Gabriel-era Genesis was simply amazing. From the keyboards reminiscent of Tony Banks, the guitarist rivaled Steve Hackett and drums were awesome too...the lead singer's voice was remarkably similar to Gabriel's as well. They were spot on!!!!!!!!!! Amazing show!!!!
Went to see The Musical Box last night in Merrillville In and was so impressed with the show. All the songs were played perfectly and the singer playing the part of Peter Gabriel was fantastic. I'd recommend this to all Genesis lovers! Hope they come back again!
If you are into 70's Genesis as a band and have always longed for a Genesis-Gabriel reunion, then this is your ticket. Not only do they sound and act exactly like Genesis in that era - the singer, drummer and guitarist (plays left handed like Hackett) look almost indentical in appearance. My buddy and I, who is from Leeds, England, stood in astonishment as these crazed Canadians ripped out the "Genesis Live" album with such precision...Amazing absolutely amazing !
This is about as close to the real deal as you can get. Even the original band wouldn't be able to pull this off these days (age, side projects, Collins' retirement, etc). It's amazing how every little detail that you may have noticed in an old Genesis bootleg comes out vividly on stage before your eyes! The Foxtrot show I saw was so lovingly recreated by these talented professionals who did their homework on Genesis' early work and shows. I give these men a ton of props for keeping the spirit of early Genesis's timeless work alive. It was amazing hearing these classic songs from the aforementioned album and Nursery Cryme, not to mention "The Knife" from Trespass performed in a live setting. Don't even question whether or not you want to go, just do it. You won't regret it, I guarantee it.
