The Best Genesis Tribute Band
by D.C. on 4/16/19The Rose - PasadenaRating: 5 out of 5We had amazing seats, though it's a little cramped up in front and I feel badly for the wait-staff who has to bring food and drinks to all of us old old prog fans. But I guess they'll live, right?
As for the show... Holy toledo. I only ever saw Genesis from the early 80s. Around ABACAB, and they did play some of the great stuff then, but only with Phil. To be honest, my first Genesis records were the older Phil records: Trick of the Tail, And then there were three, wind & wuthering, seconds out. I LOVE those records and those songs. The Lamb, Foxtrot and Selling England pushed me into that "nutjob" fan that was in full effect at The Rose for the "Extravaganza."
We saw The Black Show a couple of years ago and I was blown away. TMB continues to impress. The respect they have for the music is lovely. They are so good and it's so nice to hear great music that was part of my glory days.
It goes without saying that they play it note perfect - Astonishing. It seems less about showing off and more about "doing it right."
A review is not going to do them justice and if you are a genesis fan at all, you'll want to see these guys.
