  • Leaving No Stones Unturned

by Hanky Panky on 4/23/19The Saban - Beverly HillsRating: 5 out of 5

I went expecting to see the same show as in past years. Happily not true! The band looked, and sounded, fresh. The song selection was amazing - "Seven Stones" and "Back in NYC" never sounded so good! And a song from their first album. Before the show, I told another patron about how Peter Gabriel surprised his band mates by wearing his wife's red dress and the fox head mask while performing "The Musical Box", not knowing that it would happen that night. It shows that the band are still fans of the music.

  • Great show

by Tujunga Tom on 4/18/19The Rose - PasadenaRating: 5 out of 5

As a longtime Genesis fan who never got to see them, this show was a dream come true. I went with my 17 year old son and he was blown away .Great musicianship, Great showmanship. Really special !!!

  • The Best Genesis Tribute Band

    by D.C. on 4/16/19The Rose - PasadenaRating: 5 out of 5

We had amazing seats, though it's a little cramped up in front and I feel badly for the wait-staff who has to bring food and drinks to all of us old old prog fans. But I guess they'll live, right? As for the show... Holy toledo. I only ever saw Genesis from the early 80s. Around ABACAB, and they did play some of the great stuff then, but only with Phil. To be honest, my first Genesis records were the older Phil records: Trick of the Tail, And then there were three, wind & wuthering, seconds out. I LOVE those records and those songs. The Lamb, Foxtrot and Selling England pushed me into that "nutjob" fan that was in full effect at The Rose for the "Extravaganza." We saw The Black Show a couple of years ago and I was blown away. TMB continues to impress. The respect they have for the music is lovely. They are so good and it's so nice to hear great music that was part of my glory days. It goes without saying that they play it note perfect - Astonishing. It seems less about showing off and more about "doing it right." A review is not going to do them justice and if you are a genesis fan at all, you'll want to see these guys.

  • Loved it!!

  • The Musical Box: A Genesis Extravaganza

by J. on 4/15/19The Canyon Agoura Hills - Agoura HillsRating: 5 out of 5

This was one of the most amazing concerts I've ever seen. The Musical Box recreates early Genesis perfectly. They are extremely talented musicians, and I heartily recommend you see this show.

  • Soul stirring concert

by Flesh with 2 eyes on 4/15/19The Canyon Agoura Hills - Agoura HillsRating: 5 out of 5

I saw The Musical Box on April 12th and 13th. For the true old Genesis fan, this concert will send chills down your spine. The drummer, guitar players, and keyboardist played all this complicated music with incredible technical proficiency. And unlike other Genesis tribute bands, this singers voice works just fine. What a soul stirring experience. Do I go a third time even though I just saw them twice?

  • Heavenly music

by Chedav on 4/15/19The Canyon Agoura Hills - Agoura HillsRating: 5 out of 5

Seats were good , food was great , music unbelievable

  • Extravaganza no disappointments

by Wilyum on 3/22/19The Fillmore Detroit presented by Cricket Wireless - DetroitRating: 5 out of 5

TMB prouds itself on mirroring the original choreography of original Genesis film footage. The musicians are excellent, and lead singer does a super job of reinactments of Peter Gabriel stage shows. This was my 3rd show, and will continue to buy tickets if in area.

  • A Genesis Extravaganza

by Lilywitelillith on 3/12/19The Wilbur - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

This was my third time seeing the Musical Box and while they never disappoint, you could tell they weren't at their very best. Their usual drummer was out for personal reasons and the stand in had only a day to really be ready for this show. You could definitely sense tension/that they weren't as cohesive as a result. That being said, the drummer did the best he could and under that kind of pressure performed well. I was a little disappointed in the lack of costume for Watcher of the Skies, but the set-list overall was fantastic, and we heard After the Ordeal which Genesis themselves never played live themselves. I still think they were great, but it was obvious they weren't on their A-game, and I don't know what stop this was on the entire tour, that may have made a difference as well. I still recommend seeing them to any die-hard Genesis fan!

  • Amazing show!

by JR on 3/12/19The Wilbur - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

One of the concerts that I didn't want to end. The sound was amazing as was the performance. This show was a bit unique since their drummer couldn't make the gig at the last minute and they had to find a replacement. Amazed how well it worked out. Will see these guys every time they are around.

  • The Musical Box

  • Worth the trip

by Glenn on 3/12/19NYCB Theatre at Westbury - WestburyRating: 5 out of 5

Not a mere cover bank, The Musical Box is a journey back in time to the days of pre phil Genesis at its best. A must see for any Genesis fanatic...

  • Shaky start, solid middle, great finish!

by Blondie Fan on 3/11/19The Wilbur - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

Organizing in three acts was nifty. The photo images were terrific. The new drummer, Jonathan, appeared to have some understandable nerves that evened out as the show went on. We missed out because he hasn't practiced hardly at all with the band ... hopefully he will grow into this. He did great under the circumstances and the night's rendition of Watcher of the Skies was truly outstanding ... his best contribution by far! Overall it was a great evening of Genesis. I look forward to seeing them again the next time they come around.

  • Terrific venue and shkw

by Genesis Head on 3/11/19The Wellmont Theater - MontclairRating: 5 out of 5

Fantastic venue to see a show. As a huge Genesis and Gabriel fan, the older Genesis music in my opinion some of the most intricated and talented group of music ever produced. The Musical Box delivers almost on every level and brings back that incredible sonud and music the true fans love! It was an awesome show and would see this group perform over and over. Next time I’d hope to hear Suppers Ready, but their rendition of Musical Box was spot on perfect!

  • You Have To See To Believe

by The Cat 3 on 3/11/19The Wellmont Theater - MontclairRating: 5 out of 5

Let me first say, The Musical Box is no mere tribute or cover band. They thoughtfully recreate the music of Genesis with perfect precision and musicianship. Watching this talented group perform is nothing short of awe inspiring. They sound so good and are so very entertaining. This was the third time I saw them live. I confess my first time seeing them in 2017 I was skeptical at best. I was pleasantly surprised, of course. I can't wait until they bring their next tour (hopefully The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway in its entirety) to my area. I would see them again and again and again... ...they are that good! -TC3

  • Marginal performance at best

    by Prog71 on 3/10/19The Wilbur - BostonRating: 2 out of 5

Yes they had an issue without original drummer. Trick of the Tail / Wind of the Wuthering material was a big disappointment. Lamb Lies Down was better however no where close to older material. Uncharacteristic breaks in form. Probably should stick to older Gabriel material.

  • The Musical Box does it again

by OccamsShaver on 3/10/19The Wilbur - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Great show in Boston! This was my third time seeing them over the years, and the first time I heard them do '76-'77 material. It is hard to believe that the substitute drummer only had a few days' lead time. I was very surprised to hear A Place to Call My Own.

  • Another excellent performance

by Jimmy OST on 3/10/19The Wilbur - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

If you are a fan of progrock and more importantly a fan of the Gabriel era Genesis then this is a band to never miss. Having missed them time and time again finally I was fortunate to see them two years ago on the Black Tour (saving england by the pound tour) my son and I were completely blown away! I have been Peter Gabriel/Genesis fan since their third album (when I discovered them). The Black Tour was amazing. The White and this past performance of a through the years compilation excellent. Musical this group of musicians play the sounds note for note with all the power and energy of a live performance. Don't Miss Them If They Are In You Area! I can't wait until they come around again.

  • Brilliant!

by Steff on 3/10/19The Wilbur - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

If you are an early Genesis fan, particularly the Peter Gabriel years, do NOT MISS the Musical Band. Absolutely phenomenal covers that sound identical to the original songs.

  • the BEST

These guys are absolutely fantastic. If you are a fan of early/mid Genesis (before their big radio hits), then you have see this band.
