It was perfectly cast. The voices were powerful. It was perfectly performed. Scenery could have used some help. The theater is perfect size. We had great seats. Thanks for bringing it to Columbus.

I did not read it was not going to be the original. It also did not say it would make political statements about our President. I realize it is a political satire but they should have said it was partly in today’s world

It has been a number of years since we first heard the Mikado and were thrilled it was going to be performed so close to us. The music was perfect, the cast was well chosen, the scenes were impeccable. My only wish was that we could have obtained a DVD of the production the night we were there. I wonder if any were made and are available.

The Mikado was an excellent performance. The music was top-notch and the actors did an great job of portraying the characters in a way that was easy to connect with, enjoy, and understand. I found the pop culture references that were sprinkled liberally throughout the performance rather discordant and overdone - a few here and there as a surprise would have been better. However, those references to TV shows, cell phones, etc. got more of a laugh out of the audience than any other part of the play, so if it made Gilbert & Sullivan more accessible to the audience as a whole, that's a good thing. I would definitely see it again.

Once you got in the plot it was really good and funny.

  • Mikado was just okay

This performance was simply okay. Nothing unforgettable. Solid, but not astounding performances by all the leads. There were too many modern references worked into the performance. A very few were funny, but mostly they seemed forced and unecessary in what is already a funny script.

My granddaughter and I were both delighted. She is a Senior in HS. I thought there were some jerky moments, but all in all great entertainment and a great way to spend Sunday afternoon .
