The Marshall Tucker Band on Tour

Southern rock pioneers The Marshall Tucker Band have created legendary music like "Can't You See" and "Fire on the Mountain" since the '70s. While the members have changed over the years, the music that defined a generation remains the same. The rockers still energize stadiums with their iconic sound that combines rock, jazz, country, righteous guitar solos, and instrumental jam sessions. The Marshall Tucker Band hit the road in 2022 for a tour of the U.S. in celebration of 50 years of making great music. So whether you're a die-hard fan of five decades or just looking for an excellent Southern rock performance, be sure to grab tickets to see the band on their 50th Anniversary Tour. You won't be disappointed.

The Marshall Tucker Band Live in Concert

The '70s were a golden age for pop-rock music, and The Marshall Tucker Band led the charge as a new wave of Southern rock bands began to emerge. In 1972, guitarist Toy Caldwell and rhythm guitarist George McCorkle formed the six-piece in South Carolina and named the band after a blind piano tuner whose name they found inscribed on their rehearsal space key. The original lineup consisted of Caldwell, his brother Tommy Caldwell on bass, McCorkle, vocalist Doug Gray, Jerry Eubanks on flute and tenor sax, and Paul Riddle on drums. The group initially gained recognition on tour with The Allman Brothers Band and found continued success thanks to their classic Southern melodies that were perfect for radio. The group's self-titled debut album was released in March 1973 and included the hit single "Can't You See," peaking at No. 17 on the Billboard 200 chart. The Marshall Tucker Band took a brief break in 1980 after the death of bassist Tommy Caldwell, but the band was revived with a new lineup and began touring again in 1983. The group mostly stuck to their musical roots, but they did take some brief detours to explore other genres with 1998's all-blues album Face Down in the Blues and the 1999 spiritual album Gospel. Overall, The Marshall Tucker Band have released over 20 studio albums and dozens of live releases, which have collectively gone multi-platinum many times. The band remains active to this day, touring throughout the United States and celebrate their 50th anniversary on tour in 2022.

  • Music selection

Doug Gary needs to hanging it up. I saw him 10 years ago and since that time he has faded fast!! Music selection was terrible.

  • Marshall Tucker at 4 Winds

by LisaC on 7/8/24Silver Creek Event Center at Four Winds New Buffalo - New BuffaloRating: 2 out of 5

Wow! Venue was great with good views and sound. Warm up band, Jefferson Starship, was wonderful. Good talent and interactive and fun. Marshall Tucker was very disappointing. It was evident members had talent. Especially the person who played the flute, saxophone, keyboard, and sang 1 song. The 2 guitarists and drummer were also good. The lead singer, Doug Gray, needs to retire. He sang most of the songs, but you couldn’t understand him. He mumbled. Also disappointing was the fact that they only sang two of the probably 50 songs I love from Marshall Tucker. Most of the audience was leaving halfway thru. Very disappointing.

  • Marshall Tucker with Jefferson Starship

by AmyS on 7/8/24Silver Creek Event Center at Four Winds New Buffalo - New BuffaloRating: 5 out of 5

Had so much fun seeing Jefferson Starship and the Marshall Tucker Band. Two iconic bands that still sound great. J.S. Was a very pleasant surprise playing all their hits. I’ve been an MTB fan since I was a teen and still love seeing them. The band are very talented musicians and they’ve been together a very long time. Would see both again!

  • Out of tune, out of sync.

by KimmiesDaddy on 7/8/24Silver Creek Event Center at Four Winds New Buffalo - New BuffaloRating: 1 out of 5

A once great band, it’s time for them to hang it up. They were out of tune, out of sync and very hard to understand.

  • Awesome show

by Kief on 7/8/24Silver Creek Event Center at Four Winds New Buffalo - New BuffaloRating: 5 out of 5

It's always a winner with two Headliners, who have help to make the music industry growth through the years.I was amazed by pure talent from vocals. showmanship and the abilities with their instruments. Jefferson Starship and Marshall Tucker presented an unforgettable experience for the fan, if it was your first or one of many of their concerts that you have attended. All the songs you wanted from all era's 50 year's of greatness in one night.

  • Not what we expected. We weren't the only ones.

by JaD on 7/8/24Silver Creek Event Center at Four Winds New Buffalo - New BuffaloRating: 3 out of 5

Jefferson Starship led off. Everyone was dancing in their seats (we are all old, lol). When MTB started, we all sat through the first song hoping it would get better. No one was dancing in their seats. People started leaving and we wanted to but stuck it out....last song of their set got people moving. Glad it was only an hour. The instrumentals were great, flute, sax, keyboards, drums, guitars but we were all a bit bored......enjoyed Starship more.

  • Long Past Time to Quit

by Sad Sad Mark on 6/27/24Caesars Event Center at Caesars Southern Indiana - ElizabethRating: 2 out of 5

The venue sucked...there's just no polite way to say that. The chairs were placed side by side, requiring a level of intimacy with strangers I haven't experienced since Boot Camp, or my submarine days. I mention these as I was serving on active duty when I first came to love The Marshall Tucker Band. Put a flute in it and I'm likely a fan...big Jethro Tull fan as well. Anyway, having to sit through 3.5 hours of concert with my arms tucked in like a T-Rex was unindurable. I really appreciated the fact that nearly half of the audience slowly exited the venue during the Marshall Tucker segment. This was a 2-fer...with Jefferson Starship opening for TMTB. Well, that portion, musically speaking, was phenomenal. I wasn't all that exited going in to the evening, as I made the 2 hour drive for Marshall Tucker. Well, Jefferson Starship is what saved the night for my wife and I. Amazing musicality, and the female lead was every bit as good as Grace Slick...maybe better. I was mesmerized by the oldies, and found myself newly attracted to Jefferson Starship, while I was not at all interested in them previously. I'll be sure to watch for them to return to my area. Sadly, the stage had to clear out to bring in The Marshall Tucker Band. I may have considered leaving myself...and in retrospect, probably should have. Sad as it is to admit, Doug Gray is just a warn out shell of his former self. His voice is gone...he spent half the concert with the microphone pointed to the audience...as we were singing the songs that he no longer can. I'm angry with him as it has severely impacted my memory of his awesomely sweet tones of the past. I recognize that he is the last...and the only original member performing today...but as he has turned the flute playing over to a new generation, he needs to quit singing as well. It was truly bad. When he spoke, which was much of the time, his voice was so low and gravely that neither my wife nor I could make out his words. I did understand that he gave up the flute after hearing the new band member's playing...too bad he hasn't listened to the other member's singing as well. Now the reason that this is a 2 star vs 1 star review is the flute player. He was astonishingly good. In his hands...before his lips...the flute was a weapon of war. The style could honestly be labeled Attack Flute, as he blew notes that aren't possible from a musical instrument. It was mesmerizing. Well, I can't think of much else to say...at least I've learned that the 2+ hours drive to Elizabeth, IN isn't worth the trip. Over $400 for a mediocre room, and a concert venue that just plain sucks...yeah, I'll be saving a lot of money by totally avoiding this place in the future. On a good note...I get to enjoy Santana and Counting Crows, tomorrow...and that's guaranteed to be sweet.

  • LOUD!!!!

They were too loud both groups were loud louder than loud hard to hear them sing everything was kind of distorted we enjoyed it but walked out of there with pounding headaches just too small for a big band as we heard

  • Loud

At the start with Jefferson Starship my wife had to leave durring the second song. I hung in there till the end of their performance. My ears were ringing so bad i was getting a migraine head ack. was unable not to see Marshall Tucker. Bummer!

  • Flute Player Was Awesome!

    by TTINWI on 5/28/24Ho-Chunk Gaming-WI-Dells - BarabooRating: 3 out of 5

Marshall Tucker Band I would never see again. Just too old to put on a good show. Their flute player, on the other hand, was terrific! Would go to see him again by himself anytime!!!

  • Wonderful concert!

  • Marshall Tucker Band and Jefferson Starship

    by Jim on 5/28/24Ho-Chunk Gaming-WI-Dells - BarabooRating: 5 out of 5

Music was excellent! I was disappointed though in the Ho Chunk casino customer service. 20 minutes to wait to get a beer is not acceptable.

  • Great time!

    by Sue on 5/28/24Ho-Chunk Gaming-WI-Dells - BarabooRating: 5 out of 5

The band was awesome! So much talent! We had a great time. Wish the chairs were spread out more but that would be my only complaint ( small ). Upon entering the attendant was able to scan my ticket from my older phone with ease ( couldn’t download app ). The attendant’s that scanned us and sat us were great.

  • Needs to retire

    by Stormy on 5/28/24Ho-Chunk Gaming-WI-Dells - BarabooRating: 1 out of 5

Lead singer cannot carry a tune and needs to retire. At 72 years old you have to know when enough is enough. Playing Guitar solo instrumentals to cover the non singing is beyond obvious… Jefferson Starship was way better than expected.
