Blue Lovett and Gerald Alston were great!!
by Riluvm on 2/22/10Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 3 out of 5I took a friend who loves the Manhattans to this performance. Blue Lovett and Gerald Alston were great, but the band was too loud, which drowned out the performance. What was up with the two background singers? Where were they?? Someone needs to pull them aside and bring them up to the level of the other two guys, or leave them out and have Gerald and Blue do the tracks and then sing without them. We were expecting a more softer, intimate performance like we listen to on the cd's, which we have all of them. After the first song, my ears were hurting, which took away from the performance. Why is it that bands have to play so loud? We aren't deaf and aren't trying to be hard of hearing once I leave a concert. I am going to find the Manhattans with Gerald Alston again, because he has such a heavenly voice and he really worked hard last night. Too bad the other people didn't bother to try to harmonize together with him. We can do without the prancing around and just help out poor Gerald and Blue. People will continue to see the act perform, because they are good, but lose those two and make the Manhattans great!! There were so many songs that I wanted to hear but didn't, but I understand that.
