    Ides of March

by March Madness on 10/29/19Genesee Theatre - Waukegan

When a concert starts out good, and just continues to get better, you know you’re in for something special. That was the Ides. And the ending with The Eye of the Tiger was spectacular!

    Chicago garage band rock

by BlindEyeLady on 11/5/18Genesee Theatre - Waukegan

I have seen several of the old 60's bands and the surviving members. This experience was real good. Although no matter what they will never be 17 again but neither will I.. I am reliving my youth .. It could be improved with better sound management.

Old Men Jammin Rock and Roll

    by DeeElle56 on 5/25/17Genesee Theatre - Waukegan

This was so great. They sold the Genesee out with no problem. These men have been in the business an approximate average of 45 years. Each group played the hits we wanted to hear, very close to the way the 45s were recorded. They played behind each other and sounded great. Even Peterik's purple hair brings a warm smile to your face. The guys also stood for pictures and signed CDs and DVD sets afterward. The audience was completely engaged. We came on canes, crutches, wheel chairs and our own two feet to hear this wonderful concert. Singing along to all the hits was just a joy. Don't miss them if they come to your town!

Just a bunch of guys having fun, making music

by kkasi on 5/25/17Genesee Theatre - Waukegan

As one of the artists said, when I'm on stage, I feel like I'm 19 again. Yeah, the crowd, music, and performers are Geritol-aged, but who cares? The inner teenager is there within all, and the music took us back in time. Jim Peterik has endless energy, Nick Fortuna has a banging body, Jimmy Sohns is still having a blast. This is a fun show!

    Enjoyable evening

by Northflow on 5/24/17Genesee Theatre - Waukegan

Nearly all of them "Cornerstones" still have "it"—especially the Ides of March and the Buckinghams. The remaining members of the Cryan' Shames (2) and New Colony Six (3) that performed worked hard to make their thin ranks sound good, and the Ides of March did a good job of backing them up. Jimy Sohns worked hard to be OK, but Ted Aliota's Lake Shore Drive performance was lackluster. The audience was mostly an older crowd, but they were into it, and the nicely refurbished Genesee theatre added to an overall good vibe. If you like 60s Chicago rock, especially if you lived through it, this was definitely a good concert to take in. Sadly, no encore.

    Extremely Fun and Entertaining

by PESCML on 5/24/17Genesee Theatre - Waukegan

As expected, watching the bands perform their oldies was fun and entertaining. I thought that the Buckinghams and Ides of March were especially good sounding as they did back in the 60s and 70s. Jim Peterik was great and has not lost a beat and his voice was as good as ever.

Classic Rock Redux, from the originals

by movieham on 5/24/17Genesee Theatre - Waukegan

Cornerstones is a great show about rock, history, and Chicago's contribution to the development of classic 60s rock with its multiple garage bands starting with Gloria by Shadows of Knight and beyond. Many Chicago bands earned national fame and followings, and many of them are featured by the Cornerstones show. The music is great, but it's also fun to see the original stars we first heard on WLS-AM and WCFL. WLS loved to feature the local bands, and as a result we have many who contributed multiple hits to the 60s scene, and these are featured at the show: Jimy Sohns/Shadows of Knight; Cryan Shames; New Colony Six; Ides of March; Buckinghams. A snappy fun show that runs about 2:20. Worth seeing, whether you are young or old.

    Another Great Show!

by OriginalIdesGroupie on 5/24/17Genesee Theatre - Waukegan

I have been to every Chicago-area Cornerstones show since the original WTTW taping, and they keep getting better, thanks to Jim Peterik and the Ides of March as the "backup" band for all the great performers! I have the distinction(?) of being at the very first Ides performance in Berwyn way back in the sixties, just after they started their climb to fame, and it's been, as Jim says "a bumpy ride, but here's the Vehicle that got us here tonight..." ROCK ON! and I would highly recommend that anyone that even vaguely remembers this era attend these performances. You'll never regret a minute of it!!
