About

East London via Southend-On-Sea band THE HORRORS have come along way since 2005, when they graced the cover of the NME with eye-linered eyes, big hari, an eff-you attitude and barely a single (the spiky ‘Shenna Is A Parasite') to their name. Their live shows were a riot- often literally- but did what rock n roll is supposed to do: energise, excite, divide and polarize. Three records on, they're all grown up and the hype has evolved into almost universal respect. Skying is a wide-ranging, shapeshifting album with an overarching pop sensibility (see: unklikely hit single ‘Still Life'). They headlined the Laneway- curated stage at London's Field Day in July and we guarantee that they're as thrilling as ever.

    Those lovely and amazing Horrors

by meccavzzz on 10/2/09El Rey Theatre - Los Angeles

Such a treat to see them play. I was a bit worried that they weren't going to play anything from Strange House. But alas, the encore began and so ensued the riot. ahh count in fives. So great I may go to Pomona tonight for another fill of the majestic tunes. My only wish is that the audience will not be as stuffy in Pomona.

    Quite good...until the encore

by depeche818 on 10/2/09El Rey Theatre - Los Angeles

The show was pretty damn good. They played the entire Primary Colours album, and then came back with an encore of their older stuff, which I find a dreadful joke. My boyfriend commented that it was like a different band had come on. That said, the first part was damn good, and rocked it out.

    worth the wait

by momisgood on 10/2/09El Rey Theatre - Los Angeles

although they are always late starting. It was worth it! The opening group was nice for a garage band, but not going any where -no personality on stage.

    The Horrors forget their past

by Saviourmachinee on 9/19/09Bowery Ballroom - NEW YORK

Caught The Horrors at New York City's Bowery Ballroom. The Crocodiles were a fantastic opener. When The Horrors took the stage the mix was off (and remained so for the entire show). Guitars were too low and keys were too loud. The set consisted of Primary Colors and an encore of Suicide's Ghostrider (although an excellent choice it lacked the spirit of the original). I was extremely disappointed that they did not play anything from Strange House. It's way too early for them to shrug off that fantastic album. Also, singer Faris Badwin appeared very reserved--compared to previous performances. But, Spider Webb and Joshua Third more than made up for it. Check'em out and see what yyou think.

    Great concert!

by claudiachilli on 9/18/09Bowery Ballroom - NEW YORK

One of the best new bands of the moment! Pure and honest rock'n'roll, great singer, amazing performance for a band that have been on the road so recently... They have a lot to improve but they're surely going on the right way.

    Horrors with crocodiles

by foxfox on 9/18/09Bowery Ballroom - NEW YORK

The Horrors played at Bowery Ballroom with Crocodiles. Crocodiles were really excellent which set the stage for the horrors who played excellently. both bands were tight had good (yet completely different) stage presence. The only complaint i would have is The Horrors neglected to play any of their old material

The Horrors -- more guitar please!

by ChristianNYC on 9/18/09Bowery Ballroom - NEW YORK

I brought earplugs with me but, sadly, did not need them as the sound for their show was weak. The Horrors put on an OK show -- I'm a huge fan but I just was not really blown away. It's telling when the keyboards can dominate the lead guitar. . . not a good sign. Frankly, the band needs to fire their sound engineer, or rent more and more powerful amps. They have powerful songs but the execution of them tonight, at least for this fan, was not inspired. It seemed "dutiful", nothing more. Sorry to say; I had high hopes. They'll be playing at Music Hall of Williamsburg in October and I am hoping they are a lot louder in a month. It's a rock show, dang it -- if you're not a little deaf and tingling all over when you leave, the band is not doing their job. That said, they are the first band I've seen who sell custom scarves at their gigs, so they at least have the marketing down pat. Now, just get some amps and turn them up!
