About

The Head and the Heart in Concert

With an infectious style that combines folk, country, pop, and smart songwriting, Seattle, Washington's The Head and The Heart have earned a reputation as a consummate live act, charming concertgoers with their layered arrangements and intricate vocal harmonies. In 2013, the band released their most confident and mature album to date, Let's Be Still, featuring lead single "Shake," an indie folk stomper that perfectly captures the energy of the band's live performances. After meeting at various open mic nights around Seattle, the band officially formed in 2009, touring the Pacific Northwest before releasing their self-titled 2010 debut album. The buzz of that album attracted the interest of several labels, and the band ultimately signed to Sub Pop Records, who re-released The Head and The Heart LP in April 2011 with additional material including "Down In The Valley, "Lost in My Mind," and "Rivers and Roads." The band toured widely throughout 2010 and 2011 as a supporting act for Dave Matthews, Death Cab For Cutie, and The Decemberists, also headlining their own shows before returning to the studio to record their sophomore album. On tour in 2013, the band impressed ticket buyers with their eclectic live concerts, leading audiences through foot-stomping sing-alongs of the indie folk anthems they've become known for.

The Head and the Heart will release their four studio album called Living Mirage on May 17, 2019. They start touring in the summer of 2019 with 39 dates in support of the new album along with the alternative rock band Hippo Campus on select dates.

These guys were amazing live and it was only enhanced by the fact that the venue was cool and intimate. I would go again to this show every night if I could.

  • Thoroughly Enjoyable

I bought the tickets only knowing of the Head and the Heart, and had no idea who the other two were. Once we got there I had no idea what to expect of the Devil Whale and thao with the get down stay down. They were awesome, For something that I've never heard before I was taken back by how much I enjoyed them. Now I wont just be looking for when The head and the Heart comes back to town, I'll be looking for all three. The head and the heart was just what I expected. They put on a great show, and all of their new songs I loved, I can't wait for their new CD to come out.

The Head and the Heart gave such an amazing show. I wish I could see them again some time soon. I can't wait for a new album. They played so many great new songs. If you haven't listened to them...do it.

I see a lot of shows and these guys put on one of the best. Amazing energy, they sound crystal clear, and you can tell that they truly love what they are doing. I can't wait to see them again!

  • Really Enjoyed The Head and Heart

    by BillyBoy111 on 9/23/11Variety Playhouse - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

The Head and the Heart are really great live. Some acts are better on record than live, but not them. Great interaction with the crowd. Stripped down instrumentation. 2 acoustic guitars, bass, keyboard, violin, and drums. Great high harmony vocals. Very much a Mumford and Sons vibe.

  • Breath taking!!!

by stallingsck on 9/23/11Variety Playhouse - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

This show was a last minute invite and wasn't expecting this to be as profound as it was. I was pleasantly surprised by their all-around beautiful vocals and sounds. Their lyrics were so honest and moving. Very inspirational. I'm not going to lie, I actually got tery at points because I was so happy. Cheesy, I know. I am a violinst myself, and had an immediate infatuation for her and her vocals. They were all so amazing and their group dynamic is to be envyed. It was almost like an enormous jam session, feeling so personal and intimate. They are a lucky group. The first thing i did the next morning was email my friends in Virginia and New York to go, MUST, see them. Hopefully, they will listen and give this group a chance.

The Head and the Heart is a group of truly talented musicians. I am IN LOVE with their music and after seeing them live, I think they might just be my new favorite band. I would recommend anyone to see them every chance they get.

  • Fantastic

    by LizzieP8 on 9/23/11Variety Playhouse - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

These guys are great. Not only are they my favorite band at home, they are my favorite live. They bring such personality to their shows without sacrificing tonal quality at all. Although they don't veer off the recorded path when they are live, their songs are varied enough to keep the crowd happy and singing along. My favorite band to see in 2011.

Saw them in Atlanta and they put on a great show with a lot of energy. A must see show if they are playing in a nearby city.

  • The Head & The Heart - just amazing!

    by DMB2280 on 5/20/11Mercury Lounge - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

This was the 2nd time I saw The Head & The Heart - and the first time in such an intimate venue. The show was BEYOND amaing. This group has SO much energy that the crowd feeds off of - and visa versa! Their music is just so catchy - great musicianship & lyrics.

  • A great discovery

by iDrinkMusic on 5/19/11Mercury Lounge - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

The Head And The Heart sold out the Mercury Lounge for their very first headlining gig in New York and everybody agrees to say that the show was amazing. The packed room was either singing along and clapping during the most upbeat tunes and equally respectfully listening during the quietest ones. The band from Seattle, who also performed Late Night with Jimmy Fallon the following day, even played a brand new song. Hopefully they will come back to play in New York again soon.

  • AMAZING!

by DustinBro on 5/19/11Mercury Lounge - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

The album these guys (and gal) put out was amazing to begin with. BUT nothing comes close to the energy the bring performing live. They talked and joked with the audience through the show combined with the small venue made for an intimate show.

  • the head and the heart

by ski2sky on 5/3/11Showbox at the Market - SeattleRating: 3 out of 5

The band sounded great and the harmonies were awesome. But at the end of the night the band was just a little tame for my liking.

  • The Head and the Heart are amazing!

Outstanding show from the first note of the first band to the last note of THATH's encore!
