About

The Guess Who are a Canadian rock band formed in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The band released eleven studio albums, all of which reached the charts in Canada and the United States. Their 1970 album American Woman reached no. 1 in Canada and no. 9 in the United States, while five other albums reached the top ten in Canada. The Guess Who charted fourteen Top 40 singles in the United States and more than thirty in Canada.

The band found their greatest success in the late 60s and early 70s, under the leadership of singer/keyboardist Burton Cummings and guitarist Randy Bachman, with hit songs including "American Woman", "These Eyes", "No Sugar Tonight/New Mother Nature", and "No Time". With Randy Bachman's exit in 1970, Kurt Winter joined the band and The Guess Who would go on to release the band's top selling album Share the Land. Songs such as "Hand Me Down World", "Hang On To Your Life", "Albert Flasher", "Clap for the Wolfman", "Runnin' Back to Saskatoon", "Star Baby", and "Glamour Boy" would follow.

The Guess Who officially broke up in 1975 with the exit of lead singer Burton Cummings. Cummings. Members of The Guess Who reunited a number of times over the years, with their last concert being in front of 450,000 at the Molson Canadian Rocks for Toronto SARS benefit concert.

With Randy's powerful guitar work and Burton's distinct vocals and keyboard mastery, the duo continues to capture the spirit of what made The Guess Who a household name. They are more than just former bandmates -- they are ambassadors of Canadian rock, whose influence can be heard in countless acts that followed in their footsteps. Hailing from Winnipeg, Manitoba, The Guess Who were pioneers who dared to dream beyond their borders--and succeeded on a global stage.

Great concert and great showmanship. Very few bands sound as good as their studio recordings, but this one does. Too bad, that only J T Kale is from the original lineup, that wrote almost all of the songs performed. But don't let that fact detract from the quality of the present groups efforts. This was my second "Guess Who" concert. My first in I believe, 1974 at the Steel Pier's Marine Ballroom. A lot of great memories as they played their sets flawlessly.

  • Awesome show

by mom490 on 3/20/14Twin River Event Center - LincolnRating: 4 out of 5

The music was awesome, the sound system was awesome, they told of some history of the band which was cool. They played all their hits, the only downfall were the seats not location just sitting on them made my bum sore :( but that's not The Guess Who's fault.

  • Bad show

by KISSMichael on 3/20/14Twin River Event Center - LincolnRating: 1 out of 5

Sorry to say that The Guess Who was NOT on their game for this one. I have seen them twice before and those shows we're awesome. This one was awful. They started almost 30 minuets late and ended early. Way too short for the money. I love the band but this was not their best gig!

Although the group was not the original members, they were definitely very good. They played all of my favorite songs.

  • The Guess Who delivered

by Alpett on 3/19/14Twin River Event Center - LincolnRating: 4 out of 5

The Guess Who delivered exactly as I expected. The group was good to very good, not great. Lead singer did a good job, maybe not quite up to par as the original, but came close. The instrumentals were spot on, very tight. The "fill in" drummer was excellent. Concert was about 90 minutes long, just the right length, not too short or too long.

  • Shakin' All Over, again

by Jerry810 on 3/19/14Twin River Event Center - LincolnRating: 4 out of 5

Great show and a nice, reasonably priced, venue. They played all of the hits and had the audience singing in the aisles. The new members of the line up performed up to the task set by the originals. Bravo & Thanks for bringing this music back!!

If you like too old entertainers who have lost their voices and crank the volume to painful then this is for you.

  • Still great!

by jackielach48 on 3/19/14Twin River Event Center - LincolnRating: 5 out of 5

Jim Kale was great as front man and original member from the 60's. Leonard Shaw from the 80's was outstanding on the flute and keyboards. Derek Sharp on lead vocals and lead guitar was truly exceptional as he played like Randy Bachman and sings just like Burton Cummings! Unbelievably talented and hot looking! The new drummer was a fill in for Garry Peterson another original member from the 60's who was out due to surgery. This fill in drummer played like he was with them forever! Last and certainly not least was the newest member of the band that plays backup guitar. Wow! He is an exceptional guitarist that more than held his own during his solos and during the dueling guitar display with Derek Sharp! He is also a cutie with a hot looking bod! The show was a wonderful trip down memory lane of all of the Guess Who's greatest hits. Worth seeing again and again!

  • Good show

They play a great show as always. They need some elevated seating for the back, its hard to see over every ones head

  • The Guess Who were good

by Anonymous on 3/19/14Twin River Event Center - LincolnRating: 3 out of 5

The show started a 1/2 hour late and lasted less than 1 1/2 hours. While the music was very good and loved hearing the old songs, the volume was so loud it was actually hard to hear the words. I have never figured out why any group feels a need to project such loud volume. The volume does not make the music.

  • The Guess Who

by Nomind on 3/19/14Twin River Event Center - LincolnRating: 5 out of 5

Despite only one original Band member remaining, the show was great...as I looked around it appeared that everyone thought they were teenagers again, dancing at their seats as guitar picks were flying into the crowd . Some of the audience moved to the area in front of the stage for the last few songs during the encore. Band members were wonderful getting the crowd revved up saving their best songs for last and high fiving the crowd near the stage. Twin River Event Center is a great venue for a concert! Fo sure!!

  • the electric guitar was outstanding

The songs brought back old memories and the sound was great . I would have like it if the show was longer time

  • Awesome show!

by Zenawp on 3/18/14Twin River Event Center - LincolnRating: 5 out of 5

Even though there is only one original band member left, you'd never know it when you hear them. Derek Sharp has spot on vocals and the entire band rocks! The sound was great too!

  • Lots of fun!

by Bellani on 3/18/14Twin River Event Center - LincolnRating: 4 out of 5

I realize that one one is an original, but that didn't make the music and entertainment any less. They've got a lot of personality, were entertaining, and definitely rocked the house.

  • The Guess Who was Great!

They played all their hits. The guitar riffs were amazing. The band was personable and entertaining. Great night!

  • Good music, very short concert

by Shewolf3 on 3/18/14Twin River Event Center - LincolnRating: 3 out of 5

First of all, it was supposed to start at 8, but due to people streaming in when they felt like it, it didn't start until 830. If they can't show up on time, their fault, dont hold up everyone else. The music was good, the lead singer knew the songs as well as the original . They did interact well with the crowd. It was unfortunately the shortest concert i've ever attended, lasted 1 hour 15 mins! Definitely not worth the cost. Especially for those of us who had to travel, get hotel, eat out etc. The only reason I did not give it below average was because songs were good. Sorry guys, if you cant give your fans more time, quit.

  • Music was awsome

by Shovelhead56 on 3/18/14Twin River Event Center - LincolnRating: 2 out of 5

The music was great, unfortunately the show started 1/2 hour later than 8pm. and they only played one hour, with two songs as a come back. We were very disappointed with the length of their show . would love to see them again but not sure I would pay again for one hour.

  • The Guess Who was excellent

by kev123456 on 3/18/14Twin River Event Center - LincolnRating: 5 out of 5

The Guess Who concert was excellent, it is the second time I have seen them in two years and will definately go next year if they come back to Twin River casino. The band goes out of their way to interact with the crowd and make sure everyone has a good time. They are definately talented and good musicians. Go to one of their concerts and you will not be disappointed.
