THE GO-GO'S IN CONCERT:

After three decades together, iconic new wave girl group the Go-Go's still have the beat. Boasting an all-star lineup that includes the beloved voices of Belinda Carlisle and Jane Wiedlin, the Go-Go's continue to be one of the most effervescent live acts around, practically bursting with energy as they take the stage to perform upbeat classics like "Our Lips Are Sealed" and "Head Over Heels." One thing is clear: these girls just want to have fun, and that's exactly what they'll do on their upcoming tour dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Formed amid LA's burgeoning punk and new wave scene in the late '70s, the Go-Go's got their start playing seminal venues like The Whiskey A Go Go and The Roxy. For their 1981 debut LP Beauty and the Beat, the band eschewed their early punk sound in favor of a more radio-friendly brand of power pop -- with phenomenal results. The album peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, spawning the hit singles "Our Lips Are Sealed" and "We Got the Beat" and earning the girls the Best New Artist award at the 1982 Grammys. 1982 follow-up Vacation was a similar success, landing two more hits on the charts and going on to be certified Gold by the RIAA. Following an initial breakup in 1985, the band's members embarked on various solo ventures, reuniting periodically over the years to record and tour. Back on the road for another highly anticipated tour, the Go-Go's will bring their signature energy to venues around the country.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Great energy and super show. Go-Go's brought back the 80's for a few hours, and we had a great time."

"The girls all looked and sounded great.  Belinda sang a few of her songs and she was sounding great. Plenty of Go-Go songs and it was a great balance of all the girls' music."

"They were just as fun & energetic as they were in the ' 80s! Very enjoyable!"

    B52's and the Go Go's

by wweha on 6/20/11Fraze Pavilion - Kettering

It was our first time at the Fraze Pavillion. This venue was beautiful an i highly recommend seeing a show at the Fraze Pavillion. The B52's opened the show with enthusiasm and kept the audience on their feet. The Go Go's came on stage an blew us all away.

    B-52's ROCKED!/Go Go's were OK

    by 80srocklover on 6/20/11Fraze Pavilion - Kettering

The B-52's performed first, and they had so much fun with their music and with the audience! I love the way Fred is so straight-faced when he does his speaking parts, particularly when the lyrics are bizarre or funny. The girls can sing and love to rock the house! Roam was awesome, and Rock Lobster brought the house down, even though it was pouring down rain! I hope I get to see them again someday. The Go Go's were disappointing. While the music still sounds great, the overall energy level was lackluster. Had it not been for Jane Weidland's adorable antics and natural enthusiasm, I might have left. She was so much fun, I want to see her in concert headlining her own band! I cannot forget to say that Gina Shockley can still bang those drums as well as or better than most male drummers I have seen, and she deserves kudos for a job well done. Belinda Carlisle was so desperate to get the audience involved that her dance moves seemed over the top and turned me off. At least she can still sing. Charlotte Caffey and Kathy Valentine need to learn how to work the crowd. They just stood there and played, stiff as a board.

    Great show despite bad weather-

by msdevo69 on 6/20/11Minnesota Zoo Amphitheater - Apple Valley

The drums and vocals were spot on, and other than waiting for the weather to clear - which it didn't do until the concert was over - it was a really fun show. They played a good line up of their hits and really captured their 80s girl punk sound.

A complete set with lots of energy

by AirtimeTip on 6/20/11DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

Very enjoyable, played with enthusiasm. The non-band projects were a nice bonus. A long set including many of the tracks from Beauty and the Beat. Kathy and Jane especially were rockin' around and Belinda looked and sounded great. The cheering, dancing crowd was about 60% women, mostly over 40 but a decent mix of ages (including several children who were having a great time.)

Missed part of the Go Gos and was sad!

by PEKDA on 6/20/11DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

I expected the B52s to play first, then the Go Gos to play after them. When we arrived the Go Gos had all ready taken the stage. We were extremely disappointed as we thought this they were the main attraction and not the opening band.

    Loved the Go-Go's!

by gogolover on 6/19/11DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

Saw the Go-Go's at DTE thurs. night. They were excellent!! They sounded great! Still got the BEAT!! they played more songs than I expected and almost all songs from Beauty and the Beat. Only thing disappointing was that I thought they were going on second. They went on before the B-52's. otherwise, no compaints! love them...hope they keep touring and hopefully a new album!!

The girls still got the beat!

by Anonymous on 6/18/11DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

I love the Go-Go's! When I was in elementary school, my friends and I used to pretend to be them on the playground and they're still totally awesome! My only complaint was that they were sorta billed as the headliners, but they actually opened the show and a lot of people arrived late. The Go-Go's should have been the headliners rather than the B-52s, who were just not as lively or entertaining.

    Excellent as usual

by vegyrex on 6/18/11Ravinia Festival - Highland Park

This was the seventh time I've seen the Go Go's. I have yet to see them give a bad performance. The huge crowd at Ravinia was totally into every song. Opening up for the Go Go's were the B 52s. This was the first time for me to see them in concert. They were just as good as the Go Go's. The only downside for me was the evening temperature getting cooler than I was expecting. I didn't bring a jacket!! Other than that it was a great evening.

The Go Go's Ladies Gone Wild tour

by amIsam on 6/18/11DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

The Go Go's were STILL good! These ladies look great and their pipes are awesome...however..they were definitely an opening bill as the B-52's were incredible. I cannot believe how after all of these years they still know how to bring the house down! Forget about all of the choreographics and hip-hop of today's music - these guys were incredible!!!

by mcalski on 6/18/11DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

Go Gos were not so entertaining. Just stood there and sang. No pizazz :( On the other B52s couldn't have been more fun. No sitting down for any of their songs.

The Go Go's were the opening band!

by Hannahp on 6/18/11DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

The first thing that I was suprised as well as the rest of the crowd was that the Go Go's was the opening act which shocked everyone there. I personally like the Go Go's better than the B 52's so that was a little disappointing. The B 52's performed the exact show that they gave two years ago at DTE Energy. Tracklist and everything-even merchandise(which was the same as two years ago)I was there. The Go-Go's seemed to be rushing through the set of songs but they were very good. I did not know Jane Weidlin changed her hair blond did not recognize. Most of the songs were from thier first-and best-CD. Only one song from Talk Show-Head Over Heals and God Bless the Go Go's-Unforgiven. It was great seeing them again-I have not seen them since 1984 so it was fun. And well worth it for the price of the ticket. Just wish there was more Go Go's and less B52's.
