    The GIZ

by Whirleybird01 on 8/22/18The Theater at MGM National Harbor - National Harbor

The story line and actors were excellent!!! The music was awesome!!! The stage props need some work and there were too many "munchkin" dancers of which they were either getting in each others way, could not dance or out of step but overall I would recommend the play. B+.

    Entertaining

by Finman01 on 8/22/18The Theater at MGM National Harbor - National Harbor

It was a good play that incorporates aspects of The Wiz and the history of GO-GO music that originated in D.C. Music that is loved by folks in the District, Maryland, and Virginia.

    Good start

by Vpgrate on 8/22/18The Theater at MGM National Harbor - National Harbor

I had a really good time watching the Giz, you could tell that everyone put a lot of work into it. There was a lot of crowd interaction and it had some good comedy moments. The dances were great from all genres and the music was definitely on point. I love the fact that I was able to see something in reference to what I've grown up around. It was nice to see go-go music presented in a positive way and not a negative way like a lot of people try to do. I hope that they do more with this type of event. MGM did a great job at hosting the event. The theater is really nice and the seating is comfortable. All of the staff are nice and will answer any question that you may have.

    The Giz

by Tina2652 on 8/22/18The Theater at MGM National Harbor - National Harbor

The Giz was a great Go-Go musical. What made it great is it was not just entertaining, but it was informational of where Go-Go came from and how it has inspired so many people and its legacy.

    GIZ

by Bosslady28 on 8/22/18The Theater at MGM National Harbor - National Harbor

The show was great considering that this was the first event, however I would like to see more props, showing the different scenes. The lines could have been organized better to keep the wait from being to long. doors open at five, but most people were not seated until almost 6:30 / 7 pm which made the show start late. Overall I did enjoy the Giz and would recommend others to go see the show.

DMV Defining GoGo At Its Best!

The concept is amazing. However, the second Act needs work and the Dottie needs more practice. When the play begins to tour please add the house falling or how Dottie got her shoes.

The Giz with Dorothy’s stroll thru the hood

by ThreeBBB on 8/22/18The Theater at MGM National Harbor - National Harbor

I love Go-Go/I was born & raised in DC/I know there was a budget & rehearsals/ and a flow of the show was laid out before hand/With all of that said I left early but would of stayed to the end and struggled to get out of the parking lot had the layout of the show been just a little different! In my opinion the tribute given to Chuck Brown by his daughter should be place at the beginning or the end of the show not after the intermission and before the ending! Great performances by all the characters/dancers/the DJ was the bomb! Congrats to the playwright and all the individuals who went through the struggle of seeing this vision come to this stage! Is there room for improvement (of course) would I suggest this performance to others (sure) would I pay my money to see it again (Hell Yeah)!

    The Giz

by Smarkle on 8/22/18The Theater at MGM National Harbor - National Harbor

Let me start off by saying, the MUSIC was all of it!!!!!!! I walked into the venue DANCING. Danced to my seat; sat down and continued to bop in my seat the majority of the time. Given that this was their first, it was very entertaining. It felt good, being able to relate to the locations referenced throughout the play. It was also great to hear the history behind GO-GO and to know that we were persistent in not letting GO-GO die or letting anyone take it away. I hope and pray that "The Giz" is allowed to keep gaining exposure and will allow me (or my son) to come and AUDITION, as well. I have recommended everyone that I know to go and see it, even if it goes to another venue. I REALLY ENJOYED my evening!!!!!!

    Poor product

by 4realtho on 8/22/18The Theater at MGM National Harbor - National Harbor

I'm all for supporting black Productions and all of that however, this was more like a high school play in a big venue. The choreography was sloppy. The storyline was weak. Actors forgot the lines and at many times had to ad lib. The sound quality was horrible. At times you could hear the actors and at other times you could not. Music would come on and be piercing to the ears at times. At the beginning of the show we were told we would get a history of DC and go go however there wasn't much history. There was a lot of, I'm sad to say, ghetto themes that were glorified. Hearing Chuck Brown's daughter talk about how his father knocked out many men in his life was really unnecessary. Also the length of the play was far too long. The play started late, to be expected. And the presentation of the two checks to charity amounting to a total of $1,500 was pretty much a waste of time. It was all so bad form if you ask me. There was nothing grandiose about of $1,500 grand total. They could have just written one check and passed it off. I'm sure getting the humongous display check printed took more effort.
