    Nutcracker

by doctj on 11/19/09Alabama Theatre - Birmingham

This was one of the best performances of The Nutcracker that I have ever seen. The children were absolutely charming and the professional dancers were sublime. I can highly recommend this performance to anyone interested in ballet, and I look forward to seeing the troup's performance of Carmen some day.

    We walked out...

    by helloworld1234 on 11/18/09Alabama Theatre - Birmingham

We drove for 3 hours to see this show and left at intermission. This was the Moscow ballet and I thought it may have been a high school ballet. I don't know if our expectations were too high, but there were zero props except for a painted sheet in the background. Dancers were out of sync, falling, and the music was actually recording. I wouldn't recommend people to see this - actually, I would warn them to stay away! The venue was great...but still, we were sorely disappointed.

    Moscow Ballet

by shebbo on 11/18/09Alabama Theatre - Birmingham

First of all, there were WAY too many kids involved. They were often a complete distraction and needed a great deal more rehearsal. I also didn't see the precision and synchronization that I had expected from a world class ballet company.

    Moscow Ballet in The Nutcracker

by Jimlawdog on 11/18/09Alabama Theatre - Birmingham

Enjoyed this traditional Christmas classic. Moscow Ballet performed the major parts with local children in the smaller roles. Lots of fun! Guys - this is an easy way to earn "brownie points" with your wives so you get to watch football uninterupted.

    The Nutcracker was amazing.

by megweg on 11/17/09Springfield Symphony Hall - Springfield

Clara, or Masha, was fabulous, along with Drosselmeyr. The students from the brattleboro School of ballet were incredible. Such talent is amazing to find in a small town, and so much of it. We are lucky to have the Brattleboro School of Dance.

We could have seen it 10 times and loved every minute. Truly a beautiful evening - can't wait to see anything else the Moscow Ballet performs.

    Amateurish

by Jordan222 on 11/16/09Springfield Symphony Hall - Springfield

The dancers were not anywhere near as good as I thought they would be. It was disappointing, especially after paying $100.00 a ticket.

    The C Team

by alaire on 11/16/09Springfield Symphony Hall - Springfield

The scenery was lovely, the costumes as well, but the overall staging of the ballet was disappointing. The students from the Brattleboro School of Dance were cute, but put into too many of the presentations. The Moscow Ballet principle dancers performances were adequate, the corps was lacking in tecnique and precision. Overall a very mediocre Nutcracker.

    Just an amazing show

by Anonymous on 11/16/09Landmark Theatre - Syracuse

I never expected to see anything of this high level of professionalism to be brought to Syracuse. This show deserves the best stages in the world. Professional ballet, great costumes, wonderful music! I'd recommend anyone - adults, kids to go and see.

    Moscow's Nutcracker was lovely.

by NellandMay on 11/16/09Springfield Symphony Hall - Springfield

The uniqueness of live art was clearly on display in this ballet , as evidenced by the children. The Snowflakes were a reincarnation of the Keystone Cops, and totally precious. Aside from the kids needing a few more rehearsals, the staging, in it's simplicity, was very effective and beautiful. The costuming, far from simple, was sumptuous. The troupes dancers were terrific, exhibiting fine technical and artistic talent, and the principals were fabulous, perfectly matched. Although the story line is challenging to portray, and follow (especially for children, I would imagine), the music and the beauty of the dance carried me away for a couple of delectable hours. The dozens of little children, twirling and leaping their ways out of the Hall must have been positively touched by the performance, as well. I would recommend it without hesitation.

I brought my mother and my daughter to see the Moscow Ballet's Nutcracker and was wonderfully surprised at the quality of the performance and the turnout. Would love to see the Nutcracker every year.

    The Nutcracker Ballet was beautiful

    by bonniecddls on 11/16/09F. M. Kirby Center - Wilkes-Barre

This was my first ballet and I was not disappointed. The dancers were great. The only thing was I thought would be different was the set. I didn't think it would be a fake background on a screen. I thought it would be props instead. It didn't take away from the beauty though and I would definately reccomend it.

    Nutcracker is a classic

    by RNCat on 11/15/09F. M. Kirby Center - Wilkes-Barre

This was a professional production of a classic. Great for people of all ages, especially since Barbie revived the Nutcracker for young girls a few years back- they really seemed to appreciate all the dancing. Great idea to get in the Christmas Spirit!

    Very disappointing!

by DragonfishAB on 11/15/09Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

We were very much looking forward to this performance as it has been some time since attending a ballet and to be able to see the world renowned Moscow ballet company was going to be a treat. Unfortunately we both found it sorely lacking. There were only 4 dancers that came near the standard we were expecting. I guess the company is definitely not what it once was! I found the local ballet companies far surpassed what this once great company had to offer.
