    Spectacular

    by emily0789 on 7/16/13Waterfront Park - Louisville

This is such a great music festival!! The setup is perfect, the water front is a great venue, the music was marvelous, and the city of Louisville is awesome!!! Only suggestion would be to allow coolers or at least snacks. Since you are there all day, it can get very pricey between food, drinks, etc.

Forecastle 2013 - what was that delay all about?!

    by Mc2fee on 7/16/13Waterfront Park - Louisville

The stages, facilities, the stellar VIP area, and the line up were all top notch. Louisville can be proud to be the home of the Forecastle festival. I love d.j.s and dance music. I also love live instrumentation and singing. I don't love being blasted with two different beats at the same time and I believe that the proximity of the stages is an important consideration. Minor sound issues is my only criticism. For example, the vocalist from the Alabama shakes could have used more volume, and the Electronic stage was too loud at times. Again, it was a great event and I am excited to see how Forecastle evolves in the future! p.s. It would be thoughtful to sell or hand out earplugs for people who want to get right up on the speakers! xoxo

    Great Time!

by Adjule on 7/16/13Waterfront Park - Louisville

The Forecastle Festival was a ton of fun! The VIP tickets were definitely worth the cost. We were able to stand right in front of the stages and the singer from the Joy Formidable gave my friend a hug over the barricade during one of their songs! I will be going again next year and I will be buying VIP tickets again!

    Perfection

by Nikkiwi on 7/16/13Waterfront Park - Louisville

A lovely event. Stages are nicely spaced but still close, food is not too ridiculously priced, good drink selection, amazing bands, fun crowd.

    Couldn't have been better

Water stations to refill water bottles was a great idea. Venue was excellent with plenty of room to walk around and explore. I did the VIP which was an excellent experience.

Saturday was delayed for an hour because it "might" rain...Black Keys were supposed to play for 2 hours an barely played for 90 minutes

Going to get Black Keys new album

    by 4peasinapod on 7/16/13Waterfront Park - Louisville

This was a band that my son wanted us to hear and I was blown away. To hear such sounds from 2 to 3 people was amazing. The time of day that they played was perfect.

just not up to standards of other festivals

by Anonymous on 7/16/13Waterfront Park - Louisville

Acoustics are terrible, stages close together. Making everyone leave on Saturday when it did not even rain was frustrating. Line up was good, good variety of music. Food and drink lines were not bad. There are so many festivals these days, I just don't think this one can hold up to the others.

    Best day of music ever

by Anonymous on 7/16/13Waterfront Park - Louisville

Unbelievable lineup. Foxygen, Alabama shakes, the flaming lips, the black keys?! Are you kidding me? Danced my ass off. Lots of cool people. Lots of hot blondes.

    Forecastle Saturday - Very Solid

    by KTH2 on 7/16/13Waterfront Park - Louisville

The festival grounds were awesome, crowd was cool, and lineup was phenominal with Alabama Shakes, Jim James, The Flaming Lips, and The Black Keys all back to back. You can't get a better lineup than that and the ticket price was very cheap considering. Alabama Shakes was cool, Jim James was soulful and mystical, the Flaming Lips were intensely psychedelic, and the Black Keys rocked out.

Great performers.. but this is not a 'heady' event

by JlovesL on 7/16/13Waterfront Park - Louisville

This is a large multi-stage fest in downtown Louisville on the river. So the scenery is nice with the river behind the stage. The performers were excellent specifically flaming lips, Jim James, Alabama Shakes, and The Black Keys...String Cheese played the night before I arrived. But....THIS IS NOT A 'HEADY FEST'. First festival ever without any glass vendors if that tells you anything...but you can buy wannabe moonshine. Lots of drunk young people, people walking into your stuff and crowding into stage area. It was a good fest and if you like the performers then go. but don't expect any kind ness

The Joy could have been Formidable

    by Brum88 on 7/16/13Waterfront Park - Louisville

Excellent venue for the concert! Good atmosphere, lots of parking, and overall a good experience. That being said, The Joy Formidable would have been better had the sound not been totally screwed up. It was evident in the sound check but not really fixed. The kick drum was over balanced and the bass overwhelming. The band had great energy and would have really rocked if the sound had been managed better. The Flaming Lips was amazing (as usual) as were The Black Keys! Those three bands were the ones I came to see, the other bands provided a decent distraction. Overall a great experience!!! Perhaps next year I can attend all three days, we shall see.

    First Forecastle

    by D74323C on 7/16/13Waterfront Park - Louisville

I really enjoyed the festival; it was very well laid out and easier to get around than I had thought it would be. I would say though that some areas (especially the VIP area) needed actual security and not Event Staff. People were bum rushing those poor ladies and disregarding any order they were trying to keep.

    Awesome event and venue

by dilb on 7/16/13Waterfront Park - Louisville

I am always fond of outdoor venues since they sound better; the sound and set-up for Forcastle was great! There was good crowd flow and easy access to vendors and restrooms. The weather was beautiful & held out with some temporary evacuations due to short storms. And the music from the bands was WONDERFUL! The Black Keyes rocked!!! Jim James cover of "Let It Be" was fantastic!!! And there was such an energy from all! Good day with Dawes, Alabama Shakes, Jim James, The Black Keys! Loved it!

This event was the most amazing experience I've been had. Although I only was able to attend one day, it was unforgettable. I can't wait to go back next year. I recommend forecastle to any music lover!

    Awesome Venue and lineup

by KLeighty on 7/16/13Waterfront Park - Louisville

Waterfront Park is an amazing place to watch a show. Add in many great bands over a three day period and I bet this event will be hard to beat.

    Great venue, amazing talent.

by aceofspadesky on 7/16/13Waterfront Park - Louisville

Forecastle is one of the best music festivals in this region. Great bands on 4 stages in a beautiful venue. The range of music is awesome and the ticket prices aren't bad for how many quality acts you see. The only downside is that instead of getting local vendors and restaurants to do the concessions, you get a couple local places mixed in with a lot of wildly expensive fair food and drinks. The Camelbak water stations were nice though.
