The Dollop is a US history podcast with comedian hosts Dave Anthony and Gareth Reynolds. History buff Dave decided to turn his hobby into a podcast. Each episode he reads one weird and disturbing story from the American past to Gareth, who has never heard the tale. Gareth's hilarious reactions are why The Dollop is in the top 20 downloaded comedy podcasts in the US, Canada, and Australia.
The live show was even funnier than the podcast. As can be expected from the Dollop, it was both hilarious and informative.
The audience was great. The show started on time. The precautions taken for the immunocompromised were appreciated.
Venue was fine. Easy access, good receptive crowd. Fun and as always more humility for us as a result of our ancestors. Go Merika!
enlightening, funny, raw and real. Dave and Gareth don't disappoint, and if they disappoint anybody it's because they showed up to the wrong show.
The biggest complaint I have is that it was just uncomfortably loud the entire time. This is not a rock concert, it's a podcast recording. There's no reason it should be 120 decibels. This really made for an unpleasant experience and was hard to pay attention to what they were saying for very long. Also it wasn't nearly as funny as some of the older episodes I'm used to listening to.
A live Dollop is definitely a unique experience. Although I love listening to the podcasts while I drive or work around the house, sitting still and really paying attention was a new way to enjoy these two men. I laughed so hard, I actually became embarrassed, but it was completely worth it. Hilarious and enthralling. These two are great at playing off of each other and if you go to their show, you will get to see all the little things you miss on the podcast.
Cool location. Dave and Gareth were hilarious and the topic was "fun".
The Dollop is a fantastic live show. Just be warned to anyone going to the Lincoln theater, there is virtually NO parking available on a Friday or Saturday night. Even pay lots that appear open online are closed - we left to get to the theater 45 minutes before the show and we still ended up being about 35 minutes late because we could not find parking.
Upon arrival, the Lincoln theatre was packed, and we had seats up in the balcony. The way the balcony slopes, you really can’t see much of the stage unless your close to the front. The bad part was the fact there was absolutely no AC. It was so hot in there that sitting through the show was almost unbearable. Absolutely unacceptable for an indoor venue with that many people-a massive health hazard. The Dollop was fine, but they finished on a real sour note going on a long rant about policing which had nothing to do with their chosen topic. Won’t be going back.
I have been a huge fan of the show for a few years and thes e guys never fail to deliver!
The Dollop was as fantastic as always. Disappointed the venue had no mask or Vaccination enforcement.
If you get the chance to see these guys in person, do it. They provide an entertaining and educational night. These guys are some of the most hilarious comedians too.
Dave and Gareth were on fire for this show. They had me laughing so hard for two hours that I could barely breathe. Worth every penny!
The story this show focused on was really outrageous and funny. Gareth and Dave always go above and beyond.
We were already thrilled to see one of our favorite podcasts live in person, but we were surprised to learn that there would also be a special guest. David Cross helped make the show especially hilarious, and we had a really great time.
So funny. Was one of the craziest stories they ever told. Watching it live was a different experience. Seeing the pictures of the people involved added a new level of audience engagement.
I love the Wilbur Theater, I go at least 5 times a year, and it is a great small theater to see comedy. I also love The Dollop Podcast, a comedic podcast based on crazy stories from American history, and it did not disappoint! So funny, would definitely go again if they came back.
Always fun to see a show at the Crest, a treasured venue, so grateful it's still going strong. The Dollop boys brought it big time with the extra hilarious take of John Sutter, the gold rush era scumbag. I'm a huge fan of the podcast, so it's just so awesome to see them work their improvisational genius live & direct, plus we had killer seats! This is the 2nd show we've seen of theirs at the Crest and we hope there are many more to come!
the dollop was great. fun theatre, cool old-timey vibe, staff were excellent, covid precautions top-notch compared to other places ive been. the ticketmaster app would not allow me to sign-in as i walked to the event so i had to pull my info up on the website in my browser.
Dave and Gareth are a dream combo of Gen X/Y humor. Deeply informative and funny at the same time, Gareth's goofy ad-lib and improv skills are great fun and a perfect marriage to Dave's skeptical straight-man. A fun live show that feels just like you're listening in to your friends' conversation, but funnier.
