Great show. They played and played. Very good at a very good hall.
Such a dynamic show from the 1975 to 1977 line-up. All the members of this line-up did an excellent job! I really like the guitar/violin dual between Steve Morse and Allen Sloan, M.D.!!!!
This show was geared to the guitar devotees in the crowd, and the 5 original members were spot on with their instruments. This was the first show I ever saw with only a single microphone on the stage, which was used to introduce songs by the band. Steve Morse continues to amaze on the guitar, and the bass licks and electric fiddle were outstanding. Many of the songs were ones I'd not heard, but they were kicking anyhow. A great special encore with Dallas' own Andy Timmons joining the group on stage for a blistering rendition of Crossroad. You can hear the country and bluegrass influences in much of their offerings, and the Bash which closed the set before the 2 encores rung with the tune of Wabash Cannonball although I've never heard that song with the blazing guitar, bass and fiddle that were up front Wednesday night. Of course, Bloodsucking Leeches closed the set.
What an awesome treat seeing them perform live! They really are a bunch of old friends who love playing together. It is refreshing to see a lack of ego on stage...it's all about the music!
As expected the Dregs were at their best and out on a show that was special.
Amazing experience - incredible talent and brilliant timing - played two full hours.
Very solid show featuring the original lineup of the Dixie Dregs. First set ran for an hour. After a 15 minute break the second set ran for about 70 minutes. My only complaints are: the volume, at times, was louder than I anticipated, and very limited seating if one hadn't purchased VIP seats. All of the musicians were in fine form and they seemed to be happy to be performing in front of a nice-sized audience (800 - 1000). Shortly after the show several of the band members signed items for fans, as well as posed for pictures.
Thankful to have witnessed Dregs magic once again. Supreme musicianship. Versatile, engaging, entertaining and emotional. Long live the Dregs! I don’t fly half a day to see many bands!!!
I saw Steve Morse version of the Dregs a few years ago, and they were great. But, The original lineup, now back after many years, is indescribable! They are better than ever and I hope they keep it up for years to come! Thanks for a magical experience guys!
If I could give 6 stars I would. I have missed this band for many years. And it as great to see the original band, but the one Steve will for many years was as good if not better. Such a unique genre , true fusion. After winning best overall guitarist by Guitarist Magazine, it is not hard to see why is considered one of the vert best. These guys are so tight. Great show I hope they are back.
