About The Dirt Track at Charlotte Motor Speedway

The Dirt Track at Charlotte Motor Speedway sits across a highway from Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina, right next to the Morrison Motor Car Museum (for those who love all things cars) and just a 20-minute drive northeast of sparkling downtown Charlotte. Like the speedway itself, The Dirt Track is referred to as America's Home for Racing. The clay oval track covers four-tenths of a mile and can seat close to 14,000 (usually highly enthusiastic) fans at capacity.

The Dirt Track proudly hosts a variety of rowdy events that thrill entertainment-seekers who like things loud, adrenaline-filled, and (of course) dirty. Notably, The Dirt Track hosts the Can-Am World Finals, a once-a-year championship event for World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Cars, World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Models and Super DIRTcar Series Big-Block Modifieds. The Dirt Track has also brought Monster Trucks and motorcycling stars from AMA Pro Flat Track to North Carolina with a championship Monster Truck spectacular gracing the track annually.

Lug Nut — with a shiny silver head shaped like, you guessed it, a lug nut and a suit of glimmering blue spandex — is the mascot for Charlotte Motor Speedway as well as The Dirt Track.

History of The Dirt Track at Charlotte Motor Speedway

To the excitement of many of its regular attendees, Charlotte Motor Speedway announced it was building a complementary dirt track in 1999, and The Dirt Track at Charlotte Motor Speedway was completed in May of the following year.

Auto-racing promoter H.A. Wheeler, who previously served as the president and general manager of Charlotte Motor Speedway, collaborated with late promoter Earl Baltes on the track's design. Baltes was named the grand marshal for The Dirt Track's inaugural event. Greg Walter was promoted to executive vice president and general manager of Charlotte Motor Speedway in October 2018 and oversees operations at The Dirt Track.

  • Hard to beat 2024

by Dirtdobber on 8/7/25Charlotte Motor Speedway - ConcordRating: 3 out of 5

Just wanted to leave a short review about monster truck bash 2025 I went to the 2024 bash for the very first time watching monster trucks outside and was it an absolute pleasure. The show left my kids and I absolutely stunned. Following the great show I made a commitment to come the following year 2025. Now I had a great time and so did my kids bit nothing compared to 2024. The budget for 2025 must have been lower because there was not a school bus race and the festivities between monster truck action was minimal. The trucks themselves did not show up like last year 2024. I feel the trucks are paid to put on a show and the money just wasn’t there. Nonetheless I plan to go again in 2026 and hope that they can one up the wonderful 2024 bash. Thanks for reading and hopefully this helps. GOD BLESS

  • Good

My sons and I attended the Monster Truck show. The event was great, the facilities were well maintained, but there were not nearly enough food vendors. With the limited options, the lines were so long that one would miss a significant part of the show just waiting in line to get a hotdog and beer. Please add more vendors next year to make a much better experience!

  • A great family event

by Kay on 8/5/25Charlotte Motor Speedway - ConcordRating: 4 out of 5

It was a great day spent with my son. There was so much to do, prices were reasonable for the kids activities and tickets to the show. The only feedback I will provide is that we felt rushed to try and do everything in the timeframe since the lines for everything took forever. We didn't sit in our actual seats to see the show until it was almost over.

  • An incredible display of horsepower

by George on 8/5/25Charlotte Motor Speedway - ConcordRating: 5 out of 5

Overall an incredible experience for any monster truck fan. If you aren’t a fan this show will make you one. The Charlotte Motor Speedway website has advertised this event having “the most diabolical monster truck course on the planet” and I couldn’t agree more!

  • For the (grand)kids and me

by robertEM on 8/5/25Charlotte Motor Speedway - ConcordRating: 4 out of 5

It was a treat showing the kids how massive these trucks are up close. Gives you a major appreciation when you are in the stands. Would have liked more food choices and shorter lines at the concessions.

  • Good time

Was at cook monster bash. Very well organized. Place was clean. Every one that worked there I talked to very friendly. I flew in from Cleveland for this. Already decided to return next year

  • Will never miss this event!

by Eezy on 8/5/25Charlotte Motor Speedway - ConcordRating: 4 out of 5

Starting with the ticket purchase. You can buy in advance online or at the gate. we picked our tickets online for 10$ for the kids, hard to beat. I get they make it back on adult ticket sells at 40$. The prerace pit party is always awesome. Cookouts support is amazing for this event. The "Fair"type blow ups and rides for the kids is always a hit. Lines can be long but move fast if everyone isn't messing around. You get up close to the Monster trucks for pictures. The track is always awesome, FAR better than the monster trucks inside arenas. Massive jumps and features kids are screaming the whole time. Adults are even extremely entertained. Will not miss this event as long as it comes to Concord. Great event. Entertained the entire time.

  • Terrible track prep

by Spectator on 11/12/24Charlotte Motor Speedway - ConcordRating: 1 out of 5

Worst track prep I have experience at a dirt track race. Every spectator's face looked like they just finished their second moto at an mx national. They need a new water truck driver.

  • 2024 Nationanls

by JROTN on 11/11/24Charlotte Motor Speedway - ConcordRating: 3 out of 5

Track needs some North East clay on it. Racers got in line and followed each other around for the most part. The surface was fast but not racey, couldn't pass much. Though they prepped it a bunch, it didn't help.

  • Great race

by Gwhizz on 11/11/24Charlotte Motor Speedway - ConcordRating: 3 out of 5

The race was great but not worth the ticket price. I won't go back for that reason. That's the reason for the 3 star review. The race itself is a 5 star but the price kills it.
