The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Timw

by dlbf on 5/17/17Fisher Theatre - Detroit

The show's producers took what wouldn't appear to be a story you could put on a stage and did that very thing! The innovative set was genius and placed the audience in the main character's head - whether you wanted to be there or not.

    Thought provoking

by MUnity on 5/17/17Fisher Theatre - Detroit

An ingenious way to walk in a child's shoes that is on the spectrum. The technology duplicated what the senses may react to....the bright lights, increased noise...every teacher should see this play. Well done and moving. The ending was realistic, too.

Did not live up to hype!

by Quinlisk on 5/16/17Fisher Theatre - Detroit

We had such high hopes's for the play! It was dark! The second half drain down too long! The main actor was very good! Not one of our favorite shows!

    Disappointing

by PatriotRising on 5/14/17Fisher Theater - Detroit

An overwrought production with an almost interesting plot, this really fell flat. The original mystery, and additional mysteries, are solved in the first act. The second act was slow, repetitive, and not nearly as interesting as the first act. The stagecraft was very novel, and its a talented crew. Simply not compelling or engaging as most other productions.

    Curious No More

by sagedakota on 5/14/17Fisher Theater - Detroit

What an incredible play. I was moved by all the performances, however the lead was brilliant. I learned so much and left feeling as if I had a spiritual experience. The set and movement and sound helped to understand what was in this young man's mind. A mind blowing theatrical experience. Everyone working in mental health or a school should see this play. Thank you for a unique and enjoyable evening.

Only if you read and enjoyed the book

by JuanitaCR on 5/12/17Fisher Theatre - Detroit

I was surprised how they actually made the very complicated book come to life. The internal voices, the perceptions of the people and activities from the main character. It all translated in a way I have never seen on stage before. Very innovative. Touching and well done.

    A bit too loud

by tennissmashgirl on 5/10/17Fisher Theatre - Detroit

I understand that they were trying to make a point of the frustration of parents of autistic or Asperger's children, but it was overdone in this play in two ways. One, they had much to much shouting and screaming. Understandably to make a point for the main character with Asperger's, but the father too! The second overdo, was the length of tine they spent showing his confusion and overstimulation in the world as in the subway scene. OK, we get it, but to continue for at least 10 minutes of this even bombarded my own senses in the audience. Both my 28 year old daughter and her husband as well as my own husband wanted to leave at the intermission. We stuck it out. It delivered a powerful message, but too stongly.

    Engaging and though provoking

by YodaOfCanton on 5/10/17Fisher Theatre - Detroit

This is an engaging story about an autistic teen (Christopher) who excels at math. His playing detective to uncover the killer of a neighbors dog, leads to his discovering dark family secrets and that a mother who he thought was dead, is alive. We get a look at how his mind is interpreting it's sensory input as he travels alone in search of his mother. Through light, sound and images the audience is bombarded with sensory overload, just as Christopher's mind is. The play is not a musical--just in case you are wondering. It tells the story with clear dialog punctuated with graphics, light and sound. It's a great play to take teens to! Finally the actors performances are convincing and compelling.

    Amazing production!

by MotherofAutistic on 5/10/17Fisher Theatre - Detroit

This show was absolutely amazing! The stage and set dressing was very techy and cool. The story line was intense and heart wrenching. As the mother of an autistic son, I identified closely with several scenes and teared up a couple of times. The actor portraying Christopher (Adam) was spot on. His portrayal of someone with autism was very realistic and respectful. I read the book and loved the production too.

    Curiosity Revisited

by JimNoSpam on 5/9/17Fisher Theatre - Detroit

First, understand that this is a drama, not a musical. The story is intense, and the setting is magically memorable. The topic of autism is convincingly portrayed, and the acting is polished. Hint: don't bolt out of the theater after the curtain call!!!

Fabulous show with an incredible lead performance

by CorinneO on 5/7/17Fisher Theatre/Broadway in Detroit - Detroit

Adam Langdon was incredible as the lead. I don't know how someone can keep doing that role. His performance was riveting. I think that he has a great future in front of him. The whole cast did a great job. I also enjoyed the staging as it was so creative. My first impression of the set was "boring" but how they used it was ingenious. And I loved the train and how Adam set it up. This was one of those shows where you walked out saying that you can hardly wait to see it again.

    Fantastic experience

by revgreg on 5/6/17Fisher Theatre - Detroit

I really didn't know what to expect. I hadn't read the book, but I heard that this was a very special play. It was! It all takes place within the mind of an autistic teenager who attempts to solve the mystery of who killed his neighbor's dog. He finds much more about himself and his family. Special effects are fantastic. It is a very memorable experience.
