    What was that?

by Buzybee4 on 11/3/11Lila Cockrell Theater - San Antonio

When you have to walk out 1/2 way through the show because that's how repetitive and boring the performance is, that's when you know heading for the movies is a better option just to get your money's worth on the babysitter. I'm usually not this harsh, but this performance lacked color, sound, costumes, and more importantly- it didn't captivate the audience.

    slow

This performance was abstract and too slow for my taste. I sat through it for an hour but had to walk out because it almost put me to sleep.

    Undescribeable

by PapaB on 11/3/11Lila Cockrell Theater - San Antonio

Tai chi and martial arts dance, set to music with Chinese instruments, in a white chiffon of slow motion arms, legs and impossible positions, culminating in a ballet of beauty and peace !!! Loved it...

    Captivating performance.

by txartstudent on 11/3/11Lila Cockrell Theater - San Antonio

I didn't know what I was getting into when first hearing about this group, but after looking at past performance videos on youtube, I was captivated by their style. Seeing them in person was great, it was over before I knew it..but there was never a dull moment.

Cloud Gate Dance Theatre of Taiwan Spellbinding!

by Marikay on 11/3/11Lila Cockrell Theater - San Antonio

Never have I been to an art event where the audience was so caught up in the performance as this presentation. One could have heard a pin drop during the entire 70 minutes. The dancers moved as fluidly as the water drops represented. At the same time there was a deep power to their movement. They are truly a world-class troupe!

    Cloud Gate was exquisite!

by altieri82 on 11/3/11Lila Cockrell Theater - San Antonio

OMG -- I was looking forward to this concert with great anticipation and it lived up to it in every aspect. It was a sublime seamless poetic journey across a changing elevated raked landscape that captivated me.

    Abstract Art in Human Form

by MrsCinderella on 11/3/11Lila Cockrell Theater - San Antonio

The performers had such body control! They made very difficult moves look effortless and flowing. The audience also had to be disciplined--since none of the performers spoke and there were only a few sound effects. You had to almost hold your breath, and not move, not cough... Because of this I think it would have been better if there had been an intermission. We couldn't understand the commentary at the beginning. A gentleman came out and spoke for maybe 15 minutes and we understood only five words of his entire speech.
