    A Total Let Down

    by SSSB101 on 12/14/12Auditorium Theatre - Chicago

Oh dear, what a let down. This was advertised as a fusion of musical styles and a celebration of the season. In reality this was a very S_L_O_W paced Church Tent Revival. I had friends who drove in from the burbs for this. A wastes of their time and mine. Yes the tickets were free, but i want a refund for my time. The crying baby 5 rows behind us was a plesent distraction. I get the whole "lets not take Christ out of Christmas" but let's not take Santa and merriment out of the season either. This was not advertised correctly. If I want to go to Church I will go to Church. NOT AT ALL WHAT I WAS EXPECTING. And starting with a boring narrator with stale mother in law jokes, not a way to win the audience. I will never do this again! Once again totally NOT how this was advertised. I felt conned. Total let down!

The show should have been clearly advertised as a church Christmas show that simply happens to be at the Auditorium. It was not the caliber of performance I expect at that venue. It was more like a talent show. Had they publicized it as such, I would have been more tolerant. The dancing was amateur. The sound was badly balanced. Having to read the story onscreen made no sense. I could not take it seriously enough to be disappointed. I appreciated the effort.

    beautiful

by pamelapjk on 12/14/12Auditorium Theatre - Chicago

This was my first time at Willow Creek. I came by myself. It was awesome. I really liked how culturally astute the performance was. I love diversity especially in worship. Even the medium used through song dance and music was not linear and could reach a variety of individuals. The performance felt like a worship service and that is not always easy to capture in a performance. Job well done. The message of hope given by the Pastor was on target. Lastly I was sitting next to Adam who is a Willow Chicago member. Greeted me and talked with me. He made me think that Willow Chicago really practices it's mission statement because their member Adam was very hospitable to the point that I will visit the church in the future when I am mot working.

I loved, loved, loved the Willow Chicago event. I loved the diversity - which is what Chicago and Willow Chicago are committed to honoring. Amazing group of talented musicians, dancers and performers.
