The Breeders @ Black Cat DC 09/21/2009

by cocomoke on 8/23/09Black Cat - Washington

The original line-up with Josephine Wiggs standing in for one night on Bass was as good as it gets. The Deals were in rare form and unafraid to blast it out for a most appreciative SRO crowd...They still are relevant as they were in the 90's and have never lost touch with their audience.

The Breeders are really Superb, and Awesome!!!!!!

    by Kid8 on 8/22/09Black Cat - Washington

This show so far in my concert goings was the best it was so cool and a blast! I was surprised that Joesphine Whiggs was there and filled in for Mando! I just thought wow it was almost the original lineup of The Breeders very cool. I loved every song they did and i knew all of them, which was good. I was in front and could see everything. I did't want them to stop playing, i wish they played all night! The Deal Sister's are so cool and they both have great sense of humors. The best experience in my life so far!

    Very Good Concert

by KimIsALegend on 8/22/09Black Cat - Washington

I had never been to a concert but I feel like all concerts that I go to in the future have a high standard to live up to. The Breeders played a good and enjoyable selection of their songs including my favorite, "Do You Love Me Now?". Kim Deal is a legend and The Breeders are amazing.

    Excellent show

by mlktoast on 8/22/09Black Cat - Washington

This was probably the best show I've seen in years. The opening act was pretty good for what they do, but the minute the Breeders took the stage I completely forgot who had opened. Kelley and Kim Deal were amazing and looked like they were having a blast. I was a bit afraid that they'd be up there just kind of going through the motions and trying to earn some cash This was NOT the case. The sound was great. They played pretty much everything I wanted to hear. It was just a straight-up fun show!

    breeders were the shit

by duhnoozer on 8/20/09Bowery Ballroom - NEW YORK

It was an awesome environment and the breeders didn't fail. They not only played Amps songs but they played more than 20 songs that it you felt they really did it for their fans. They also came back with two encores! what a band.

    The Breeders at Bowery Ballroom

by Ainadamar on 8/19/09Bowery Ballroom - NEW YORK

Show started WAY too late. Tech guys took forever and during both the opening act and Breeders there were constant requests from both bands about sound issues.

    The Deals are sooo cool

by TysonCT on 8/19/09Bowery Ballroom - NEW YORK

Its great to be at a show where the band really enjoys being there. Kim and Kelly and the band really had a great time and appreciated the audience...and the show was great. Played all their great songs and had Carrie the violinist to play on a few tracks, including the the encore, Drivin on 9. Would love the Breeders to continue to make music in the future. Great intimate setting for the 1000 or so that were there.

I Wish I Could Listen to the Bands I Pay to Hear!

by WMJPMilwaukee on 8/15/09Vogue Theatre - Indianapolis

I love rock 'n' roll. I'd like to listen to it the rest of my life. My fear is every guy on the soundboard (sorry ladies) is deaf. I would really appreciate being able to listen to the artist rather than be blasted by the power of the mega watt sound system. This may or may not be the artists fault. Their name is on the ticket so they should have control of their product. In the case of the Breeders show this situation was particularly evident with the warm up act. I'm sorry to say they were the worst band I've heard but they made up for it by playing real loudly. Not funny. I went outside to save my eardrums for future use. The Beeders were excellent. The show would have been great if the volume were down enough to allow listening to the preformance. Lower volume would do that and hopefully it would make the rude people that come to shows and talk the whole time, shut up! As it stands now most, not all, shows at the Vogue are so loud people scream into each others ear and think they are not disturbing the show. Kim Deal is a talent. She has written songs that are musically and lyrically interesting upon repeated listenings. She is an artist not a commerical entity. That holds true of all the acts booked at the Vogue Theatre. Kudos to whoever does the bookings. Can you talk to the soundboard person and keep the volume to a no loss of hearing level? A friend of mine actually got vertigo after a show. Possibly brought on by sound pressure waves. Thanks for a great show Kimmy and company!

    Breeders in the Duck Room

by Spike37 on 8/13/09Duck Room at Blueberry Hill - St Louis

Flew in for this show because Denver wasn't included on this tour. Best place ever to see a Breeders show. Small basement room with excellent sound. Just like hanging out with them in a studio. Great concert!

    The Breeders are freaking wonderful!

by mathematicscore on 8/12/09Fine Line Music Cafe - Minneapolis

The Breeders are one of the most creative and joyful bands I've seen. All the songs were interesting and different. Even the stage setup was unique, with the drummer on the far side meaning there was simply a line of musicians. Very cool, sounded great!

The Breeders: As cool as ever

by babalu250 on 8/12/09Fine Line Music Cafe - Minneapolis

Clad in men's jeans and boxy shirts, the Deal sisters - who are pushing 50 - look more like stoned soccer moms than the icy-cool grunge queens I remembered them as. However, their sound was just as raw as it was in the early '90s, and Kim's voice remains amazingly clear and kittenish. With songs from Pod, Last Splash, Title TK and beyond, The Breeders spawned a powerful albeit temporary revival of their most influential years in music, with just a pinch of bashful interaction with the crowd. Nostalgia alone (okay, and some beers) could have kept me blushing and dancing through the whole show, but a killer set list and the Fine Line's great sound quality made things even easier. It just might have been the best show I've ever been to ... once I got over their outfits.
