About

The Black Keys in Concert

Guitarist/singer Dan Auerbach and drummer Patrick Carney make up the blues rock powerhouse that is The Black Keys. The duo has come a long way from their early days recording in an Akron, Ohio, basement to their current ability to sell out tickets to a Madison Square Garden concert in just 15 minutes.

After their 2002 debut dubbed "The Big Come Up," The Black Keys developed an underground following which they satiated with intimate tours and new releases every couple years. The 2010 unveiling of "Brothers" marked the start of their commercial success, as tracks like "Howlin' for You" and "Tighten Up" received regular rotation on Top 40 stations nationwide. Not to mention the three Grammy Awards the group took home for Best Alternative Music Album, Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal for "Tighten Up" and Best Recording Package.

The group's studio effort, 2011's chart-topping "El Camino," incorporated surf rock and rockabilly influences which pleased many and earned them another four Grammy Awards, including Best Rock Album.

The Black Keys are kicking off a 2019 North American Tour called "Let's Rock" as a headliner at the Life Is Beautiful Festival in Las Vegas, NV on Sept. 21. Modest Mouse will be touring with them on all dates. Openers at other select shows include Shannon & The Clams, *repeat repeat, and Jessy Wilson.

The Black Keys on Tour

The Black Keys confirmed their 35-date "Let's Rock" 2020 summer tour with performances in cities including Seattle, Dallas, Boston, New York, Tampa & Jacksonville (full dates below). Produced by Live Nation, each date on the tour feature special guest Gary Clark Jr., with the exception of the July 10th Berkeley show which will feature support from Allah-Las. Jessy Wilson, The Marcus King Band, and Yola will each open select dates.

The Black Keys' ninth studio album, "Let's Rock," was released on June 28, 2019 via Easy Eye Sound/Nonesuch Records. Auerbach says, "When we're together we are The Black Keys, that's where that real magic is, and always has been since we were sixteen." "Let's Rock" has received critical praise, with Paste saying, "If you want something you can crank up at backyard barbecues or in the car with the windows down, well, The Black Keys have two words for you, and they're in the album title." and The Wall Street Journal adds, "The Black Keys have mastered the form of guitar-based music, and the craft at work on these dozen songs is something to behold."

Probably as close as I’ll ever get to The Black Keys!

by Great show, great venue on 8/12/23

Super show, super nice small venue. Couldn’t have been better! Auerbach is a renaissance man. Loved the whole show!

Review of Black Keys concert 10/05/2022

by Reba Jo on 11/16/22Shoreline Amphitheatre - Mountain View

    1. The premium parking ticket was totally worth it! The lot was well-lit and very close to the food, drink, and merch booths. I would purchase premium parking again. 2. My 2 guests and I easily found our seats. 3. The opening bands' sound was a bit too loud and distorted. Also, I would have appreciated a video display of the opening bands. I liked the Velveteers better than the Band of Horses. 4. In contradistinction, The Black Keys' sound was excellent! The video display was very nice. I enjoyed every song, even the songs I was unfamiliar with. The guest musicians were top-notch; the crowd was singing, dancing, and waving their lit phones. I danced, I sang, I cheered, and I am still high on The Black Keys. 5. P.S. Guns 'N' Roses/Skid Row show at Shoreline in the 1990's also was excellent.

    Awesome show

    by Nanners on 10/31/22

I see a lot of reviews complaining about the venue, and this is NOT the place for that! Take it up with the venue! The Keys sounded great. It was mesmerizing to be in the same space as them, I have loved their music since I was a teenager (so over ten years now). Would absolutely see them again.

    Blocked at the gate

    by P. M. on 10/26/22Dos Equis Pavilion - Dallas

Waited in line for over an hour to get in to park and 2 cars ahead of us, the gate is closed. Turns out all gates are closed at 8:30. I didn't see that on any information we had related to the show. If we had known we could have Uber'd. But it was way too late by this time. And State Fair of Texas response is to contact LiveNation. If the State Fair couldn't collect money, no matter how many empty spots or how many cars with concert tickets still waiting in line, they won't let you in. Here's the response from the State Fair and their parking manager. "Howdy Penny. I reached out to our parking manager and this was the response I was given. It would explain why you were seeing many open spots. I would contact Live Nation for further assistance. The policy of the State Fair is to close all vehicle gates to the public at 8:30pm each night. The cashiers leave at that time and thus we could not accept any vehicles into the park. We accommodated concert goers until that time. There were no provisions made especially for concert goers, which was not sponsored by the State Fair. It was sponsored and produced by Live Nation. Steve Ledbetter, Manager" We had tickets in 2020 to the cancelled Black Keys show and waited two years to see them, only to have parking blocked before the band even got on stage. We drove around several times hoping to find someone who would let us in. I don't know whose fault it was. But I can't believe after waiting 2 years and spending $500+ on tickets, we couldn't get in. Disappointed doesn't begin to describe it.

    Great Concert

by Kat on 10/25/22The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion presented by Huntsman - Woodlands

Only complaint would be that there was no notification that only clear bags or small wristlets were allowed into Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion. Other than this inconvenience, everything was great! sound quality, bands, atmosphere was all top notch! Had a great night...and the Astros won too :)

The Black Keys knocked it out of the park!

by HemiSam on 10/23/22The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion presented by Huntsman - Woodlands

Probably the best show I have been to...certainly in a very long while. Opening act, The Velveteers, kicked it hard. Three piece led by lady singer/guitarist...and she gave it her all. They opened as singer/guitarist and two drummers. One of the percussionists eventually shifted over to synth/organ duties. I gotta give them props...for an opener for the opener, they were great. Band of Horses...meh. Not my favorite. Not bad, but not great. Then came the magic....woof were the BK's AWESOME. Had a full band and this is the first time I got to see them live (had to return by Apr 2020 tick's due to COVID...shame as Gary Clark Jr was to open). They were SO DAMN GOOD live. Really, truly fricken AMAZING concert experience. Loved them, their band and the light show was super cool and really worked for the tour. HIGHLY RECOMMEND going if you can.

    A great VIP experience!

by Stephanie on 10/23/22Kia Forum - Inglewood

We had a wonderful day as VIP’s of The Black Keys. Courtney was a great guide for such a special day. Sound check, swag and a numbered poster. Then a great night of music from both openers and The Black Keys! Couldn’t have been any better!!

Sound quality was inferior - fidelity of Band of Horses off

by Ad on 10/23/22Dos Equis Pavilion - Dallas

Sound quality was inferior - fidelity of Band of Horses off - could barely hear the guitar. Saw them three times in past 2 years and this was the worst venue - and the lamest stage setup for the price. As comprising, Toyota Center dramatically better.

    Great show with great openers

by Sproutpod on 10/22/22Moody Center ATX - Austin

Packed basketball arena, but sounds was good enough. Two good opening acts, so really got our money's worth! I knew more songs by The Black Keys than I realized.

    Killer Show, Bad Sound Engineer

by H on 10/22/22Moody Center ATX - Austin

The Black Keys put on an excellent show. The only thing holding them back was the sound engineer. The snares were flat and the overall sound was a bit tinny. For a venue that is supposed to be designed for world class acoustics, it is quite disappointing

    State Fair Warning

by Billy on 10/21/22Dos Equis Pavilion - Dallas

My wife and I couldn't even get to the show due to the Texas State Fair. We were crushed as No One's Gonna Love You by Band of Horses is our wedding song. Really sad about this one. I hope it was a great show for those who saw it.

    Black Keys Concert

by Marv on 10/21/22Dos Equis Pavilion - Dallas

I really enjoyed the Black Keys concert. I rate it up with Led Zepplin, Pink Floyd, The Eagles, and Z Z Top. All of which I have seen. I highly recommend attending their concert. Great live band.

    BoH - Black Keys

by Masmojo on 10/21/22Dos Equis Pavilion - Dallas

Concert was great, bands were great. The Venue? The Pavillion is on the opposite side of Fair Park from where the DART rail station is and it takes 1/2 an hour to walk to and from there. We also didn't realize the State Fair was going on which added some time. As a result we missed the first 3 Band of Horses songs! That sucked, because that was primarily who we went to see. Black Keys killed it though! Totally on point! You would never have guessed it was the last show of a long tour. There should be some sort of shuttle between the Dart station and the Pavilion or at the very least some clear way to get in from the Northwest side.

    Bad ass!!

by Chito on 10/21/22Dos Equis Pavilion - Dallas

Loved it. Would it not be great that each concert assistant gets a link to audio, pics and video for the event included with the price of the ticket? This would help you guys get more amplification via fans social channels. Please consider.

Great Music but a bad fit.

by Ugly J on 10/21/22Dos Equis Pavilion - Dallas

I'm a huge fan of the Black Keys' music but I just felt that Dos Equis Pavilion is too large for them. I kept thinking that every song (even their hits) just didn't fill the space and seemed too "laid back". Which is kind of nuts because that's their vibe. Not sure if the sound EQ was part of the problem but I was definitely left wanting a more intimate experience to really engage with their great sound. Would definitely see them again but will wait for a better venue.

Amazing show, for those that got in…

by Sauce on 10/21/22Dos Equis Pavilion - Dallas

Show was amazing. The Velveteers - Band of Horse- The Black Keys rocked it! Decent stands for food drinks and merch. The major downfall is the venue’s lack of ownership for parking. Many people could not get in due to the traffic or parking and there wasn’t a single person along the perimeter that knew were to send folks. Many fans lost out on tickets and that’s a shame. Amazing sets, hopefully they’ll never use Dos Equis again.

Just as good as before in 2012

by RobinRunner on 10/21/22Dos Equis Pavilion - Dallas

Great entertainment with Band of Horses and The Black Keys. I saw The Black Keys in 2012 when it was just the 2 members. Two complaints are the traffic (arrived late) and the Texas State Fair, the parking was outrageous on distance and expense. I will avoid concerts at Dos Equis when the state fair goes on. Such a shame.

    The Black Keys 10 stars

by Concert Linny on 10/21/22Dos Equis Pavilion - Dallas

The Black Keys" show at Dos Equis Pavillion was fabulous. Dan & Patrick brought down the house! Kenny Brown was amazing with his slide on the guitar. Must say though that special guest Shannon & the Clams on 11/14/19 at Dickies, put Band of Horses to shame.
