The voices and talents if the Four Women were absolutely phenomenal.
This was the worst play I've ever seen. I'm not sure what the play was about. Nothing connected. There was no completion. They kept using the n word for absolutely no reason. Cursing was ridiculous. The writing was so bad. DO. NOT. GO. !!!
TBALā¦.Got it going on! They are on fire š„ with entertainment and hospitality.
I took my wife out for a live play. Miss Deeās Kitchen didnāt disappoint. We got in and the play started on time. I love seeing our people performing at a professional level. Also, seeing our people coming out and showing love. Everybody was looking and feeling good that night. One Love. ā¤ļøš¤š
Was there for Miss Deeās Kitchen. Paid for the higher dollar tickets, so was pretty close to the stage, yet still had issues hearing words or making out what some of the jokes were. Some actors were not projecting and really talked as though they were around their kitchen table at home. No teal story line/plot, although I got the intention. The physical abuse at the end didnāt fit and was not really addressed and the setting was all in one day, not even changes in outfits. Heard a few around us make similar comments. Afraid it missed the mark this time.
This play was everything! I laughed and almost cried. The cast was stellar. The singing was phenomenal. I enjoyed the cast coming out and mingling with the crowd. It's been a while since I've been to TBAAL and I still love the atmosphere.
The play was funny! The pimp and great grandma was super funny. But those were the actual real and well known actors. They made the show. The story line does not connect and there are so many unnecessary characters that make no sense at all. It was hard to understand what some of the actors were saying. It was all over the place. But kudos to Ms. Katrina Walker for being able to make this happen. She put together a production on her own and was able to pay other black actors. I think that's awesome! Her plays will get better with time.
Rick Bernard James was simply amazing. He is my college classmate so I heard him sing many, many years ago, but this was the first time I saw him perform in such a venue. His stage presence is awesome and I can't wait to see him perform again. The Clarence Muse Cafe Theater was a perfect spot, an intimate atmosphere with enough space to not be crowded. Everything was on point.
We had a great time. Daniel is an awesome performer and all of his guests were on point. His trombone player stole the show. Loved it. I will definitely go see DJ again
The play was okay. There were some odd transitions in the play that left me thinking to myself "well that progressed quickly". The plot was a bit predictable and some parts seemed underdeveloped. Overall okay...
I love a great play with a great storyline and actors. The acting was limited and production basic. A play of this nature should be in a small theatre at a much lower price. Very disappointing
THE PLAY LACKED A REAL PUNCH! ALTHOUGH, IT DID MENTION THE TITLE, WAS JUST OK.
The play description had a good story line but that is where the positives stopped. The play did not flow, was lacking in its ability to transition from point from one thought to another and the acting was awful. It felt like we were watching a BAD version of Meet the Browns. Don't waste your time or money on this play.
A beautiful, moving concert and celebration. It was in remembrance of Dr. Martin L. King, Jr.'s speeches and protests during the Civil Rights movement. We celebrated Stevie Wonder's 70th Birthday. The Orchestra introduced us to a Black composer of Classical music, one of Mozart's contemporaries. I look forward to attending next year's (2021) performance.
I really enjoyed the experience that night. It was my first time ever attending this type of event. The atmosphere was set perfectly from the candles, to the dim lights, all of it. I wish the show could have lasted longer. I look forward to the next poetry slam.
No food just pretzels location very hard to find ticket said Clarence Muse Cafe Theater but it was at Black Academy of Arts and Letters only thing was that made it worth it was the comedian Marvin Dixon he was hilarious š
Preach was an awesome performer and left me wanting more! I loved the music and how it infused with the music! Can not wait until the next show!
I was very disappointed by this production, Sat night. Itās not truthful to refer to this as a āfilmā when both productions were videos, played from a laptop connected to a small screen. Throughout both presentations, the screen CONSTANTLY kept reverting to a Microsoft blue screen and - even when we could see the presentations - the sound was so bad it was near impossible to make out what people were saying. Even the performance, prior to the productions, had to be restarted when the tech staff started the backing track too soon. It is shameful that production values were SO poor that the director promised the opportunity to see the productions again at a real establishment. I felt embarrassed for her, Mr. Underwood and everyone who appeared to painfully sit through this amateurish production. The documentary, itself, seemed very interesting and intriguing - a fact that only emphasizes the frustration in not being able to see (or hear it) as the filmmakers intended, thanks to this organizations shoddy offering.
Despite the technical lacking of this venue, the viewing and itās significance was very important. We attended the pre event VIP. It was well worth it and had a chance to meet the producers, director, and film narrator. Outstanding eats as well. By the way, the director vowed to make good for all attendees by having another viewing at a better technical location.
The movie amazing and the cast was really down to earth and they didnāt act like that were better than anyone.
