    Pure Entertainment

by NANCYMAE on 9/24/12Signature Theatre - Arlington

As the saying goes "you had me from 'hello.'" The show entertains from the moment it begins. Beautiful singing (loved the harmonies, in particular) and acting was both funny and poignant. The choreography -- especially the guys -- brought the house down. The set was a delicious, bold red. And the show was surprisingly timely (complete with a sidestepping politician and women, naturally, trying to "make do" in rough times). I would highly recommend to anyone who loves music and a good, long laugh.

    Great singing!

by Tmonee on 9/24/12Signature Theatre - Arlington

The cast was, as usual, outstanding. But the show was not as funny as I had hoped. There was one good laugh. So if you just want to appreciate great singing it;s worth it. If you are looking for more of a "show" you might not enjoy it as much. I thought the seats were in the same section I sat in floor level the last show I went to a show there (it looked it on the map) well they were on the dress level, which was not so bad but one was in front of a column. At 6' tall that was not going to work. I did bring it to their attention and luckily no one sat around us so we were able to spread out and the pole was not an issue but this should be CLEARLY noted. If it was a sold out show I would not have been able to sit in my seat.

The singing by the chorus was right on key and well balanced, the leads were stellar and the acting was amazing. The whole feeling of the show was top notch. Well done Signature!!!

    Best Little WH

    by jon5440 on 9/10/12Signature Theatre - Arlington

This was my first visit to Signature Theater. I typically go to Broadway three or four times a year. Signature theater was a very nice venue and very intimate. The cast did a fine job (although it is certainly not Broadway caliber). After disappointing shows at the National Theater and Warner Theater in DC over the past years, I was genuinely surprised to find this cast did a good job. I will definitely attend more Signature productions.

The music was great, the acting was great, and the dancing... What a blast! It was such fun that I'm thinking about getting tickets for a second show.

The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas was very good, I would highly recommend. The cast was good and very easy on the eyes. This is my second show at Signature, the first was "Xanado" hilariously funny, the intimate setting and high quality shows are sure to keep me coming back time and time again.

Best Little Whorehouse not in Texas

by MikeGDC on 8/27/12Signature Theatre - Arlington

We were fortunate to see the first production in Texas, at the Tower Theater in Houston in 1979, closely following the original at the Actor's Studio the year before. Back then I didn't really know who Tommy Tune was, but we sure enjoyed his choreography! So with that "original" (for us) production in mind (which was amazing and fabulous), we came to the Signature Theatre production with some trepidation - but were very happy with the outcome. Comparing to that original production: 1) Sherri Edelen as Miss Mona - very creditable performance, not quite what I remembered from 1979. I wish I had a program from that original - but it's lost to history. 2) One of my favorite characters and performances from 1979 was Jewel - she brought the house down - and Nova Payton did not disappoint - another rafter-raising, Motown-sounding, triumph! 3) Ensemble singing was not quite up to Broadway standards, but was very good. 4) Dancing was amazing - love those Aggies!

First Time: Signature and Best Little Whorehouse

by HikerWoman on 8/27/12Signature Theatre - Arlington

I became a subscriber this year, having never seen a Signature show, but having heard good things about Eric Shaeffer. This was my first time at Signature and first time seeing The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. Mind you, I live close to Signature and mind you, I lived in Texas for over a decade. It was a great show and I highly recommend it. The set was wonderful, the costumes were great, the casting was excellent. Miss Mona and the sheriff were fine actors and I liked each in the part. What Miss Mona and the sheriff lacked in world class singing, was offset by superb acting and stage presence. I was quite impressed with the dancing of some of the ensemble and cast. Several of the cast were fine vocalists, including Angel and Jaylee (?). The Two Step and the Governor were as memorable as they ought to be. Oh yes, the scenes in the cafe are hilarious and Dotsie is an excellent comedienne, her delivery was timed perfectly each time. The others in the cafe scenes were good too. All in all, kudos to the entire cast and crew and to the director.

Best Little Whorehouse was a real treat!!

    by sloppyj8 on 8/26/12Signature Theatre - Arlington

We live in the Shirllington area, so this was such a convenient event for us to attend. And it exceeded our expectations! The show was high energy and just good old fashioned fun! Loved the dancing and the singers were very talented. There didn't appear to be a bad seat in the theater.

Amazing performance with many new twists. Hard to say whether Miss Mona, the Sheriff or the Texas Governor stole the show, but the entire cast did a superb job. I'll be trying to see it again before it finishes at Signature.

    Terrific. Broadway quality.

by lizrosej on 8/21/12Signature Theatre - Arlington

We enjoyed the Best Little Whorehouse in Texas immensely. The singing, costumes and set were Broadway quality. Signature Theater hit this one out of the park. Everyone in the play is good but Nova Payton, who played Jewel, was a standout star. Her voice is amazing. I am going to come back and see it again.

    Fun Show

by tyoungadams on 11/1/10Casa Manana - Fort Worth

The show was great. I think Ruta Lee is a bit old for Miss Mona, but she did a wonderful job with what she did. David Coffee stold the show though. Loves the Aggies dancing in the white pants...the really did that well! Overall I'd would suggest people see it. Fun Saturday afternoon for us.

I loved Ruta Lee as Miss Mona...she was fantastic. The chorus girls and guys was out of this world! All of the soloists were on spot and I thought each part was well cast and they all did a wonderful job!
