Ben Folds is so talented. Using the RPO gave such depth to his songs. His making up the song "Rock This Bitch" with a full orchestra was worth the price of admission alone. I wish he would have played other songs with the full orchestra (thinking of the BF5 song "Selfless Cold and Composed), but that is nit picking.
This was a wonderful performance by composer, pianist, singer Ben Folds with the full RPO Pops orchestra from Rochester.
This was around my 6th or 7th time seeing Ben Folds. 2nd time seeing him with an orchestra. He never fails to put on an amazing show and he never fails to entertain the crowds in between songs. He is hilarious! His improv skills during "Rock This Bitch" was one for the books though. Not only did he improvise his piano part but he came up with a part for each of the sections of the orchestra. Then at the end when he came back out for the 2 encores by himself, it felt like a private concert. He is so good and his energy is amazing! Love me some Ben Folds!
This was a great cultural experience on many levels: There were local vendors selling food and drinks. The stage environment was open and friendly. We saw the great RPO play something more than standard classical music. And lastly, we saw Ben Folds' open and personal character and immense musical talent play a wide range of musical styles from his concerto some of his greatest hits. There were moments when individual RPO musicians steal the show, and then there were moments when Ben Folds took total control of the crowd and music. Best rock show I have ever seen. How many times have you sung as loud as you could with a full piece classical orchestra that included a harp and a gong ?
Having been to several of Ben's concerts while he was touring with his band, I was skeptical this time because he was with an orchestra. This show turned out to be the most moving and best Ben Folds concert I've ever attended.
Great experience. We'd seen Ben Folds in concert a few other times. We'd also been to the Meyerhoff before, too. It was a nice experience all the way around. Hall staff were helpful to find seats, bartender was good and friendly. The orchestra did a great job with Folds' arrangements as well as improvising on the "Rock this B..." song. Very enjoyable! Also great to see Ben in a good mood. He was decidedly unhappy when we saw him at Merriweather in 2013.
At least my 5th time seeing Ben Folds, and the orchestral arrangements truly enhance the show. Highly recommend this performance to any fan who gets the chance!
I've been wanting to catch a Ben Folds show for several years. It was well worth the wait, but I assure you I won't wait so long ever again. If you've never seen him and like his music, GO!
Ben Folds is the consummate musician. This was a great evening that shouldn't be missed.
Ben belongs with a full symphony! His plea to support them outside of pop concerts was heartfelt and funny. The only thing that would've made the concert better was another hour of music. P.S. His concerto was great. There were moments of goosebumps!
The concert was fantastic, Ben Folds is impressive and the BSO, as always, is top-knotch. Unfortunately, there was a high-pitched whine coming from Ben's microphone for most of the concert.
This was a life changing experience for me. It brought me to tears and moved me and I have never before been so affected by a performance. I have been to a lot of shows, but this was more than that, it was a true event.
If you like classical music and rock music, you'll love this show!
Ben Folds is a supremely talented pianist and to see him showcase his skills with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra was a true delight to watch! Ben's new piano concerto is sublime. The Meyerhoff is a wonderful, intimate venue, although I did hear a bit of crackling in the sound system. That is my one and only minor criticism. Thank you Ben and the BSO for a wonderful evening!!!

Great show!! The Orchestra was fanonomal and Ben is always the best!
The concert was wonderful. The venue is not perfect. We sat half way back on the lawn and the speakers were facing upwards and the party people were talking non-stop. We heard the encore from the parking garage better than the rest of the concert. Bring binoculars and sit in the garage of the $10 fee and tailgate there.
Great venue, great artist and the weather was absolutely gorgeous!
Ben Folds has outdone himself once again!! The Philadelphia Orchestra was phenomenal in accompanying Ben's greatest hits at the beautiful Mann Center. My seats were the fourth row from the stage and I could see him with no obstructions playing piano beautifully!! This was just an amazing show - fantastic set list and amazing performances by the orchestra and Ben. I couldn't have asked for more out of this nearly 2 hour concert!
