Bangles, great music, sound system was terrible

by DodoH on 8/22/16The Paramount - Huntington

For some reason, the sound engineers at Paramount thought they had to play the Bangles music so loud that the words sung were incomprehensible and the decibels were hovering at the threshold of pain.

Amazing Concert for a Great Cause

by RobHAdams on 10/19/15Teragram Ballroom - Los Angeles

This was a benefit event for John Wicks that included a list of excellent bands. Some of the bands were The Bangles, Al Stewart, Denny Laine, The Muffs, and so many more. It was easily of the best concerts I have ever been to.

John Wicks benefit show was absolutely frecken Gre

by Anonymous on 10/11/15Teragram Ballroom - Los Angeles

First off, this show could not have happened with out Paul Rock. He has a heart of gold. If you could put a true rock concert together this is the show you'd want it to be. Al Stewart, Denny Laine. Peter Asher, the Bangles, the Kennedy's, Peter Case, The Muffs and many more. What a great night of great music, This was one night of many great shows Paul Rock has put one for charity events, his main charity events are for the autism think tank. Look it up and please give to help out this charity.

The Girls are Back in Town

by JustASinner on 7/6/15Belly Up Tavern - Solana Beach

Talked the BF into this one. Being a little light on pop culture, he didn't know the group at all. I, being of a "certain age", had been a rabid fan in the day. Though the 80's may be regarded less than kindly in the annals of music, The Bangles were the penultimate girls group of the time. Everyone back then had their favorite Beatle...I mean Bangle. I was a Team Vicki girl myself. Anyway, when the finally took the stage, they came out with a roar. It was a girl power moment right from the start. They sounded great and mixed just the right amount of new material in with their classics. They also looked great, at least from a distance. The guy next to me who looked normal but segued into creepy as he repeatedly elbowed me to say "Susanna is so hot" apparently thought so too. I finally had to fire back at him with the dorian Gray-esque revelation that she was actually, truly 56 years old, which did seem to deflate him a bit. All told, it was an enjoyable evening. The played just enough but not too much. I missed both Michael Steele and "Walking Down Your Street" and could have absolutely lived without the overwrought "Eternal Flame". Even the BF is now a fan.

Show was great. Fantastic, energetic performances by a fun band. Only drawback was the opening band played for an hour after show started at 8:30. It wasn't clear to me that there even was an opening band so we had to wait unt about 10 pm before The Bangles went on.

    The Bangles still got it!

by JimandTrish on 4/14/15Variety Playhouse - Atlanta

I was not expecting much since I have not kept up with their career since they broke up. I have to say they sounded fantastic and really put on a great show with a good mix of their 80s hits and newer stuff. I will definitlely see them again. The opening act was Ok but since this crowd skewed a little older, and they were much younger, something got lost in the translation. Obviuously talented and fun to watch just too "loud' for this audience.

Bangles - An Eternal Flame for sure

by BangleForever on 4/14/15Variety Playhouse - Atlanta

What a blast! They still sounded great! They still got it after all this time and they may even be better! High energy show that I am glad I took my wife on her birthday to see

    Bangles - Variety Playhouse

by BADriggs on 4/14/15Variety Playhouse - Atlanta

Incredible show! I had forgotten how much I loved the Bangles. Debbie, Vicki, and Susanna sounded just like they did in the 80s! They all looked great! Missed Michael but the show was still fantastic. If they come to town again we will be there...

    The Bangles were amazing!

    by Ed32608 on 4/14/15Variety Playhouse - Atlanta

The Bangles were amazing! Debbi, Susanna, and Vicki put on a fantastic show. Their three part harmony was spot on. The Bangles did all their classics (except "Walking Down Your Street" - oh well) and the newer tunes were also great - especially their re-make of "Open My eyes". The Bangles still "have it" - hope they return soon.

Such a fun girl's night out! First time seeing The Bangles and was not dissappointed. They came out rockin and never stopped. Was so glad they did all the favorites including Hazy Shade of Winter and Eternal Flame. If they ever come back around the Atlanta area, I am so there! They are AWESOME!

Nice seeing them back together. They played all their hits. Very casual appearances by the girls. They put forth a lot of energy.

So awesome to see these girls get together after all these years, realized how much we really missed them!! Their old music was great and hearing that they are back in the studio is so cool, can't wait to buy!!

    Wow what happened?

by Anonymous on 9/10/13Los Angeles County Fair - Pomona

All bands were great. However, the last band the Bangles unfortunately had the longest time on setting up, and had several issues with the sound while they were playing. It was good viewing all three for the price.

Terri Nunn & Berlin Stole the show

by manrossb on 9/6/13Los Angeles County Fair - Pomona

Berlin & The Motels were awesome! The Bangles were not so hot--the sound cut out 2 or 3 times, their voices were weak, the music was so so. At 50+ Terri still has the pipes to rock the house, and she really connected with the fans. Martha Davis' voice still rocks, too. Gave the show 5 stars for Berlin & Motels contribution. 80's rock still lives!!!

    Three great bands!

by Musicman9 on 9/5/13Los Angeles County Fair - Pomona

All three bands performed hit songs. Martha Davis was talented, Terri Nunn beautiful, and The Bangles fun. They changed sets between bands very fast.

Berlin w/ Teri Nunn are awesome! Bangles not so...

by EddieManzetti on 9/5/13Los Angeles County Fair - Pomona

The concert started w the Motels: they were good, but more from the late 70s... I new a few of their biggest songs. They were good. Berlin, featuring Teri Nunn was Awesome! Amazing! I love them. Last year I went to the Fair to see the B52s... and was surprised to have fallen in love w Berlin. Great performance !!! The Bangles: huge let down. Sound system broke down..at the start of their set... They should have replayed they 1st two songs at the end or just restarted... They werent too in touch w the crowd, unlike Berlin! Ill go next year to see Berlin & Motels.... Will not want to see Bangles.

    So much fun!

by BreweryGirl on 9/5/13Los Angeles County Fair - Pomona

Martha Davis started the show. She sounded great. She had her original sax player who was amazing. Berlin was next up. WOW. I have seen them a couple time and there is always something a little different. And I really like their new songs. Terri always give 150% when she performs. Never fails to impress me. And the Bangles....a few hiccups in the beginning but they got their groove. Fun band. Berlin was the stand out though.

Terri Nunn and Martha Davis were amazing!!

by Bringbackthe80s on 9/5/13Los Angeles County Fair - Pomona

Show opened with Martha Davis and The Motels. They were fantastic...Martha sounded exactly the same as she did 35 years ago. Terri Nunn and Berlin, who should have been the headliners in my opinion, were so amazing. Terri looked great, sounded great, was entertaining and engaging. Even loved their new song from the album they are releasing this month. I could have sat and listened to them all night. And then The Bangles played. First, it took FOREVER for the crew to change out the equipment and do a sound check, so you would think that it was going to sound great....wrong. The sound cut out twice, leaving them standing there playing with no sound. Little did I know that they should have left it that way. They sounded awful, acted like they didn't want to be there and played a bunch of songs that no one wanted to here. You could tell that the audience was just waiting to here Walk Like an Egyptian so they could leave. Berlin and Motels would do better if they dropped the Bangles...then I would have given them 5 stars.

    Opening acts were better

by Joecool3545 on 9/5/13Los Angeles County Fair - Pomona

Martha Davis of the Motels was awesome ,she sounded just as she did in the 80's .Same for Terri Nunn and Berlin ,but, she had incredible new music that Rocked the house, and she looks great. The Bangles were just ok ,there sound system went down after 10 seconds into there first song Hazy Shade of Winter ,my favorite, and again ,10 seconds later ruining that song ,they played songs that I never heard before ,instead of their classics ,after everything, I left the show early,The Motels and BerIin being the better groups
