The Australian Bee Gees (Vegas) on Tour
With the untimely passings of Maurice Gibb in 2003 and his brother Robin in 2012, the original Bee Gees are sadly no more. But you can still experience all of the group's biggest hits — from their breakthrough ‘60s pop ballads to their ‘70s disco classics to their ‘90s comeback anthems — in concert, thanks to this expert tribute act hailing from the Gibbs' home continent. Not only do the Australian Bee Gees sound just like their idols, they look a lot like them too: guitarist Michael Clift sports positively Barry-esque mane, facial hair and (thanks to dental prosthetics) teeth; keyboardist Wayne Hosking does Maurice proud with a fedora and tidy beard; and vocalist David Scott is a dead ringer for Robin in his shaded specs. The house band at Las Vegas' Excalibur Hotel and Casino, The Australian Bee Gees ensure that any day of the week is ripe for Saturday-night fever.
The Australian Bee Gees (Vegas) Background
While they've ably filled the void left by the brothers Gibb, the roots of the Australian Bee Gees date back to when the actual Bee Gees were still active. After playing their own original music — and noticing the crowds being pulled by the tribute acts they sometimes played with — the trio of Michael Clift, Wayne Hosking and David Scott decided to switch lanes in 1996 and become "Barry," "Maurice" and "Robin" in a tribute act they dubbed The Australian Bee Gees. While the Bee Gees' Saturday Night Fever hits anchored the set list, the ABGs approached their show with a true connoisseur's eye to the band's deep back catalog, giving equal weight to the group's many pre-disco singles. Once the ABGs landed in Vegas in 2011 for an indefinite run, the performance evolved into a multimedia experience complete with videos, costume changes, choreography and period-specific sets. The show has also spawned an international touring production that's visited over 50 countries.
They had good harmonies and sang many of the songs we all love.
The vocals were in harmony and the band was pretty good. The problem was that after 45 minutes of playing they took a 30 minute break. Overall it was only 1.5 hours of playing time. They started playing really slow songs and slowly increased the pace. I thought I would fall asleep, but by the end of the night almost everyone was on their feet dancing. A lot of feed back during the show which caused you to wonder if the crew know what they were doing.
Good show ,strange theatre really enjoyed The Bee Gees while they were on stage, but only on stage for an hour at the most. Needed to perform for another 20 minutes
A talented tribute band that is not just making sure the music of the Bee Gees is staying alive - judging from the number of teens in the audience, a whole new generation is discovering it.
This group came to the Gallo Art Center to perform and being huge Bee Gees fans we bought tickets expecting to see a show as good as "Rain Beatles Cover Band". Nope that's not what we got at all. Both of us were disappointed in the video background presentation to the songs selected and how one of the performer Barry's voice was just off that night. I can say we can't recommend attending this performance.
Extremely well done rendition of many BeeGees favorites. Good sound system for a small venue setting. The guys truly seemed to enjoy what they were doing and were very good doing it. My only minimal complaint is that while the performance was live, they ran a sound track for instrumental portions, which I understand the need for, but am not a big fan of. The Moody Blues does it for their concerts for a lot higher prices, but I just don't like it. That being said, I truly enjoyed the show and would recommend it.
I loved the original group The Bee Gees! The Australian Bee Gees did an excellent tribute to the Bee Gees! They were very entertaining and sounded great! I would go see them again anc definitely recommend them to others. I'd love to see Barry Gibb in the show.
IF YOU ARE A BEE GEES FAN YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the Bee Gees Tribute. The group performance was exceptional. Would highly recommend the experience. The IP Resort was outstanding with great service throughout the organization.
They were awesome and so much like the real BeeGees that it was remarkable!!! They are really great entertainers!! Enjoyed it very much!
Great music! Celebrated our 39th anniversary at the show and felt like we went back in time. Love the music, sang along to all the songs. My 2nd time seeing them and will go again!!!!! Love the Australian Bee Gees!! Love you Robin!!!
What a wonderful, entertaining show. The guys are awesome! Totally entertaining, great music and I mean they play their own instruments and sing live! Loved, loved them. Then after the show, you get to meet them! They are so nice, I def would see them again. Don't miss this one, you will not be sorry.
Nice harmonies, a costume change, and some humor thrown in and some audience participation.
Enjoyed the music. Weakest link was Robin. Not close to Robin Gibb's voice. So happy they played along with the ONE NIGHT ONLY Concert. Thought money paid for 75 minutes of music was too much.
This show was awesome as usual. If you're a Bee Gee lifetime fan, I highly recommend this show, you will not be disappointed.
It was just an okay show. I have seen many. The seating was awful. I paid to be in front but felt like I was giving the men next to me a lap dance when I even moved. I am all for being close but this was ridiculous. The person behind kept putting his knees in my back. I am NOT a woman of size ( weigh 110 pounds) and this would not accommodate people who are larger. There is dancing if you want to do that and I did enjoy that. There is good and bad, but they only performed right at 1 hour and 20 minutes barely. It was almost 90.00 for my mom and each to get it. Unless you are passionate about the Bee Gees from their first first songs it is great, but just not enough time and that is because Thunder down under comes up after this show. It's okay but not worth 90.00 each. I would recommend you pick a different show in Vegas. Just my opinion though.
Outstanding Show at a Great Venue couldn't ask for a better place for a concert at Deep Water Amphitheater
Fun show! Needs more falsettos. If you like the Bee Gees you will enjoy the show.
I saw 5 shows in 10 days and this was the worst. They were the worst in that 1) They were not together as a group, one great vocalist the other two fair to bad. 2) Two looked like they just wanted to finish the set and leave. 3) Not entertaining . I think the show has run its course, lot of empty seats and the kind of crowd that will not come back twice. Question is who was the lead - no one! Forced March fo the Band and the Audience.
Very good show! Would recommend to others and price was reasonable.
