The Australian Bee Gees (Vegas) on Tour

With the untimely passings of Maurice Gibb in 2003 and his brother Robin in 2012, the original Bee Gees are sadly no more. But you can still experience all of the group's biggest hits — from their breakthrough ‘60s pop ballads to their ‘70s disco classics to their ‘90s comeback anthems — in concert, thanks to this expert tribute act hailing from the Gibbs' home continent. Not only do the Australian Bee Gees sound just like their idols, they look a lot like them too: guitarist Michael Clift sports positively Barry-esque mane, facial hair and (thanks to dental prosthetics) teeth; keyboardist Wayne Hosking does Maurice proud with a fedora and tidy beard; and vocalist David Scott is a dead ringer for Robin in his shaded specs. The house band at Las Vegas' Excalibur Hotel and Casino, The Australian Bee Gees ensure that any day of the week is ripe for Saturday-night fever.

The Australian Bee Gees (Vegas) Background

While they've ably filled the void left by the brothers Gibb, the roots of the Australian Bee Gees date back to when the actual Bee Gees were still active. After playing their own original music — and noticing the crowds being pulled by the tribute acts they sometimes played with — the trio of Michael Clift, Wayne Hosking and David Scott decided to switch lanes in 1996 and become "Barry," "Maurice" and "Robin" in a tribute act they dubbed The Australian Bee Gees. While the Bee Gees' Saturday Night Fever hits anchored the set list, the ABGs approached their show with a true connoisseur's eye to the band's deep back catalog, giving equal weight to the group's many pre-disco singles. Once the ABGs landed in Vegas in 2011 for an indefinite run, the performance evolved into a multimedia experience complete with videos, costume changes, choreography and period-specific sets. The show has also spawned an international touring production that's visited over 50 countries.

    A fun show...

Nice harmonies, a costume change, and some humor thrown in and some audience participation.

Good but too much money for tickets

by Spbtn on 10/31/17Excalibur Hotel and Casino - Las Vegas

Enjoyed the music. Weakest link was Robin. Not close to Robin Gibb's voice. So happy they played along with the ONE NIGHT ONLY Concert. Thought money paid for 75 minutes of music was too much.

It was just an okay show. I have seen many. The seating was awful. I paid to be in front but felt like I was giving the men next to me a lap dance when I even moved. I am all for being close but this was ridiculous. The person behind kept putting his knees in my back. I am NOT a woman of size ( weigh 110 pounds) and this would not accommodate people who are larger. There is dancing if you want to do that and I did enjoy that. There is good and bad, but they only performed right at 1 hour and 20 minutes barely. It was almost 90.00 for my mom and each to get it. Unless you are passionate about the Bee Gees from their first first songs it is great, but just not enough time and that is because Thunder down under comes up after this show. It's okay but not worth 90.00 each. I would recommend you pick a different show in Vegas. Just my opinion though.

    Australian Bee Gees

by Woosky on 4/6/17Excalibur Hotel and Casino - Las Vegas

I saw 5 shows in 10 days and this was the worst. They were the worst in that 1) They were not together as a group, one great vocalist the other two fair to bad. 2) Two looked like they just wanted to finish the set and leave. 3) Not entertaining . I think the show has run its course, lot of empty seats and the kind of crowd that will not come back twice. Question is who was the lead - no one! Forced March fo the Band and the Audience.

    An enjoyable night!

by Musicmanfan59 on 11/6/16Bergen Performing Arts Center - Englewood

The Australian Bee Gees were very good. The Bee Gees are a tough band to imitate, especially with only five guys on stage. Their vocals were pretty good as was the music. The song selection was also very good, considering the amount of material the Bee Gees have. I doubt anyone could really sound just like the Bee Gees, but these guys did a really good job. Since we'll never get to see the the real thing again, the Australian Bee Gees are the next best thing. Certainly worth seeing if you're a Bee Gees fan. Having seen the Bee Gees only once, I'm glad I got to relive some of their great music one more time.

    Good show

by MGNG on 10/31/16Bergen Performing Arts Center - Englewood

Good show, not great. Enjoyed the music. One of the singers on the falsettos hit some harsh and sometimes even offkey notes. But overall it was an enjoyable evening.

    Excellent tribute band!

by rickguen on 10/30/16Bergen Performing Arts Center - Englewood

This tribute band put on an excellent concert and hit all those high notes that the Bee Gees did. One member of this band both looked and sounded much like Barry Gibb, which helped to create the illusion that you were at an actual Bee Gees concert. It wasn't until they changed into their black leather pants and jackets outfits that they really looked like the Bee Gees. They did all the hits, pretty much, I thought, plus a few songs that I didn't know.

    Bee Geee

by MrKEMP on 10/30/16Bergen Performing Arts Center - Englewood

Overall I thought the show was poorly done. The lead singers voice was horrible and he had no emotion or upbeat. The only positive was the lead guiterist

    Bee Gees' Show

by LeenieInNJ on 10/30/16Bergen Performing Arts Center - Englewood

They played all their hits, loved the song selection. The voices were decent, the look was there, but something was missing. I think they need more instruments in the band, the music was flat, can't describe it. They were not bad but I don't think I would go back.

    Simply Awful

by HP123 on 10/30/16Bergen Performing Arts Center - Englewood

I attend 20 or more shows a year, several of tribute bands. This show has the distinction of being either the worst, or a close second to the worst, of anything I've seen. Ever! Out of tune, egomaniacal, just simply awful. I would, however, recommend the seats. :-)

    They got us dancin'

by Oakl on 6/14/16Excalibur Hotel and Casino - Las Vegas

Enjoyed the small setting as opposed to a huge bowl atmosphere. Did NOT like the dry ice, smoke effect. Yuk! The singing was fantastic! They could reach those high notes as good as the real Bee Gees. Taking the photo ahead of time made a nice souvenir. Enjoyed the videos on the side. Due to the lighting on stage, I felt the back, or on stage screen was a little 'washed'.
