  • Incredible show

    by Ames26 on 9/8/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

The entire show was awesome, starting with Railroad Earth who is really moving up. Then Greg, Warren, Derek - they all played their hearts out. Not to mention the 7 drummer drum solo, it was phenomenal. I was so happy Susan Tedeschi sang a couple songs, she is very talented. All in all I loved every minute.

Best show I've seen at Red Rocks in a very long time. They went all out on this one. So glad I chose to stay in town. Was that real??

ABB didn't disappoint, fantastic show. Greg is back in full form. I love how the band plays off of each other. Warren and Derek just jammed and Susan Tedschi was phenomenal as well.

  • Allman Brothers Band 40th anniversary Tour!

    by snoocj666 on 9/8/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

This tour is not too be missed! If I knew ahead of time it was going to be such a good show I would have purchased more tickets to other shows! Railroad earth was also magical and should not be missed either! Overall one of the best shows I have ever seen!

  • The Original Jam Band !!!

by timotico on 9/8/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

It was an unforgettable night with 7 of the best blues/rock southern/rock musicians of all time. I have been a fan for more than 30 years, and of course the Red Rocks venue on a perfect full moon night added to the perfection of the evening.

  • better than ever

by dansmtb on 9/8/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

With Warren Haynes, Derrick Trucks and 3 drummers, the band was brilliant. Susan Tedeschi came out for a couple of songs and was fantastic!

  • The Allman Brothers still rock

    by Carp56 on 9/8/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 4 out of 5

Greg Allman still has it. After all these years, this was their 40th year together and their own brand of rock transends the ages. Even with mostly different personnell, Greg has still managed to continue with their characteristic Allman Brothers sound and amazing guitar licks. Fantastic does not do justice to the talent that was on the stage. They had the crowd on their feet during the entire performance. It was amazing the diveristy of the audience that went to a sold out Redrocks Amphitheater performance. There is a whole new generation of Allman Brothers fans out there. An unexpected moment came when a woman sang a couple of songs with the band - she was amazing - her voice was fantastic. Overall the performance was awesome, I would recommend this show to anyone who loves great guitar, percussion and the characteristic Allman sound, he still has it.

  • Allman Bros jam fest

by Chgosalesgal on 9/8/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 2 out of 5

These guys are great musicians, especially for the age of some of them.. Unfortunately each song sounded the same as the last. We left before it was over.

  • BEST RED ROCKS CONCERT, HANDS DOWN.

    by nojo123 on 9/8/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

This was an excellent concert, Derek Trucks and Warren Haynes melted my face. There is nothing better than enjoying the Allman Brothers outside with so many great people.

  • Allmans unreal

  • Unbelievable!

by DoctorRock on 9/7/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

My wife and I and another couple flew in from Salt Lake City just to see the show. This was probably my fifth or sixth time seeing the Allman Brothers. I've followed them since the 70's. While I'm a little disappointed they didn't play Whippin' Post, In Memory of Elizibeth Read and Dreams made up for it. This was the first time I ever saw them play Melissa which was incredible. I have never, ever seen Gregg Allman play or sing better--even better than back in the day. The guitar work between Derek and Warren was astonishing. These guys just love to play--and it's obvious. This was as good as it gets!

  • ABB was fan-tastic

by gustmeister on 9/7/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 4 out of 5

I have been going to ABB concerts since 1973 Stadium tour. This 2009 event at Red Rocks was by far the best I have seen, and I have seen plenty. The band obviously honed the "original' sounds and riffs to a degree that was as if they were striving for a perfect cut in the studio. Gregg looked healthier and happier then I have seen in many years. His vocals shot chills through my spine.

  • Allman Brothers was what I've been looking for

by PapaOggy on 9/7/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

The show started off with a beautiful performance from Railroad Earth, choice selections like Bird in a House and Colorado. Then the Allman Brothers came on, they are one of my favorite bands, but nothing off the albums touched this show. Derek was unbelievable, Gregg sang his heart out. Whoever the bassist was, I was thouroughly impressed. Susie rocked off socks, and overall I was blown away. The Allman Brothers have to have more soul than anyone that will ever play again. It wasn't electronica it wasn't funk it wasn't heavy, it was southern blues and it moved me.

  • Another Wonderful ABB Show !

by Greggsgirl on 9/7/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

What a fantastic show at one of the nicest venues in all of the US. Had a great time. The opening act Railroad Earth was a lot of fun and I will try and see them again if they come to the west coast. Another amazing ABB show...

  • Allman’s 40th anniversary tour

by StrungTight on 9/7/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

A full moon rose over a full house and at 9:00 pm the Allman Brothers Band lead by Greg Allman took the stage at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison Colorado. Young and old rock fans stood to cheer the introduction, my wife and I did not sit down again until 2 hours later at the end of the last song, most of the people near our section also danced and celebrated through each and every song. The Allman Brothers Band represents one of the great rock and roll bands of the classic era and that alone makes for a marquee act. It is a privileged experience to hear in person the melodic complexity, expert precision and mastery of enticing transitions of tempo that hypnotically escalates into moving crescendos matched expertly against soulful and meaningful lyrics. Greg Allman is a brilliant leader and standard bearer of a group of world class musicians. It is indeed rare to experience a musical production of this level in any venue or genre. This is a group of performers not only at the top of their game but absolute masters of their craft. This was a tribute show for Duane, the band put on their best, and somewhere in this universe there is a very proud brother enthusiastically applauding the musical accomplishments of these gifted performers.

  • RRE @ RR Supporting ABB

by Hayduke on 9/7/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 4 out of 5

Loved the opening set by Railroad Earth in their first performance at Red Rocks. Lots of RRE hobos in attendance supporting a great bunch of musicians. A 90 minute opening set that featured some of the bands most well know tunes culminating in a rousing 12 minute "7 Story Mountain" followed by the closer of" Colorado" set the stage for the Allman Brothers. I was a bit disapointed in the ABB show. At points I was thinking that this was more like Govt. Mule than the Allman's. There was some outstanding guitar playing for sure but after a couple of hours, it all started to sound the same to me. The crowd seemed to really be into it all though so maybe it was just me.

  • Oh Susan!!

    by BiscoBaby13 on 9/7/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

Awesome.. Susan Tedeski was a highlight.. as well as the long percussion solos (5 percussionists at once). They covered Van Morrison's Into the Mystic and played favorites like Soulshine, Midnight Rider, Melissa, and One Way Out. Warren is great... still mind blowing.

I thought it was good but liked the songlist for the Sept 2nd Chicago show much better.
