About

The Allman Betts Band on Tour

When Devon Allman and Duane Betts come together to carry the torch that their fathers — Gregg and Dickey, respectively — bore for so many years, they do it their own way. Sure, they bring classic Allman Brothers Band tunes like "Ain't Wastin' Time No More," "Jessica," "Midnight Rider" and "Blue Sky" to the stage with a sound and spirit that will make their fathers' fans misty. But this is no tribute act. In addition to breathing new life into the old material, they offer up their own tunes, influenced by old-school Southern rock but bearing an undeniably original feel. And along the way they take songs by other artists, from John Lee Hooker to Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, and put their own roots-rocking stamp on them. Between Devon's pipes and Duane's guitar, old spirits are conjured in an Allman Betts Band concert, but new fires are stoked as well.

The Allman Betts Band in Concert

When Gregg Allman passed away in 2017, the loss ended any chance for the Allman Brothers Band to ever take the stage again. But two men found a way to move the spirit of the ABB into a new era. These musicians are an undeniable part of the band's legacy even though they were never actually members of the band. Gregg's son Devon Allman joined forces with Duane Betts, son of legendary Allman Brothers Band guitarist Dickey Betts, to form The Allman Betts Band. Devon's soulful voice and Duane's fiery guitar work represent the next chapter in a Southern rock story that started with their parents back in Georgia in the late 1960s. There's even a third Allman Brothers Band offspring in the Allman Betts Band — Berry Oakley Jr., whose dad was the former's founding bassist. Those who mourn the Allman Brothers Band will find cause to rejoice in The Allman Betts Band, as not just a rekindling of old memories but a powerful path forward.

    Great Show but...

by Robbo on 2/21/20Hackensack Meridian Health Theatre at the Count Basie Center - Red Bank

This was a dynamite show, all excellent musicians, only criticism is the venue, promoter, or whoever should have listed that there were 2 warm up acts, this way the consumer knows what they're in for especially on a week night !

a good concert as I always enjoyed the Allman brothers ,would have liked it more if when not playing there own music that they stuck to playing Allman brothers stuff and not someone elses music, the Allmans brother music is what got them there and stick to it

    2 warm up bands?!

by Mike on 2/21/20Hackensack Meridian Health Theatre at the Count Basie Center - Red Bank

Really disappointed that we missed most of the show we bought the tickets for. Show was advertised as an 8:00 start. We figured we'd be out of the show by 10:30 and planned our night accordingly. We have two kids at home and on a Tuesday night, we were not able to stay for Allman Betts. With two warm up bands, they didn't start until 10. We stayed for 3 songs and had to leave. Really disappointed!

    Allman Brothers Reincarnated!

by Lynnie on 2/19/20Scottish Rite Auditorium - Collingswood

What a great show! Duane, Berry, Devon carrying on in the spirit of their fathers! Felt like I was back in eight grade...so happy that this music is being kept alive. The band members also performed their own compositions and other covers...just excellent. They are all superb musicians, too.

    What a great concert.

by A. Taylor on 2/18/20Scottish Rite Auditorium - Collingswood

Being an Allman Brothers Band fan since the early '70s, I thought it would be great to see the next generation of Allman, Betts, and Oakley. I wasn't sure what to expect. It was an incredible concert. It was a nice mix of their own material, ABB songs (Midnight Rider, Blue Skies, and In Memory of Elizabeth Reed), and other great songs. I can't wait to see them again! Please come back to the area soon.

    Best of old and new

by Tony C. on 2/18/20Scottish Rite Auditorium - Collingswood

A great experience. Sometimes i felt like i was at the Fillmore East in 1970. While they definitely display the influences of the Allman Bros. parents, they have a sound of their own.

    Great Show

by Pmanos on 2/12/20Michigan Theater - Ann Arbor

These guys are making their Daddy’s proud by carrying on a rich Allman, Betts, Oakley tradition with some great music. This iteration is perhaps a click closer to the Country side of the Southern Rock-Blues-Country blend the original Allman Brothers were known for. Jackson Stokes set the table up nicely with his set prior to The Allman-Betts Band taking the stage. I especially liked his cover of The Talking Heads’, Take Me To The River. If you enjoy Allman Brothers type music, this show is a Must See event.

    Entertaining... Not the Allman Brothers

by D. on 2/12/20Michigan Theater - Ann Arbor

This was a relatively good show entertainment wise however every time they covered an Allman Brothers song it was sad to say how far they are from the original. I'm glad most of the show was their own material, they did that well... very soulful.
