    The Alarm NEVER DISAPPOINTS!

    by Y. F. on 9/2/19Saint Andrews Hall - Detroit

We had great seats in the balcony at St. Andrews Hall! We could see the entire stage and the entire crowd. The opening bands were awesome. However, the highlight of the evening was seeing The Alarm and Mike Peters at his best! The audience was singing and dancing the entire night. It was a great show!

by Kat on 8/28/19Paradise Rock Club presented by Citizens Bank - Boston

All three bands were amazing and I would recommend seeing all of them live, especially The Alarm. Am amazing performance, as always. They just keep getting better and better! If you are a fan of The Alarm or like alternative rock, you must see them live. Mike, Jules, James and Smiley put on the best live shows ever!

    Fantastic Concert, Horrible Turnout

by Soul909 on 8/27/19Penn's Peak - Jim Thorpe

3 stalwart 80's post-punk bands that I haven't seen since the eighties performed starting with Jay Astin's Gene Loves Jezebel. All I can say is Michael Astin who? Jay carried all the parts extremely well and doesn't look to have aged much at all, still lithe and theatrical, GLJ put on a great set, despite it being the shortest of the 3 bands. They delved into their hits with some new material as well that held up well. Would have loved to hear a song or 2 from "Immigrant" and their early hit "Shaving My Neck", but all in all they did not disappoint. Hardest working man of the evening (Guitarist James Stevenson, he of Chelsea, Generation X fame) played his 1st set with panache (he's also The Alarm's bassist/guitarist). Modern English were next, and last having saw them on their "Stop Start" tour in the 80's, I thought this set seemed a bit labored, although still great. Was super pleased they did multiple tracks off of their debut "Mesh & Lace" (No, After The Snow was NOT their debut), as well as several off of After The Snow. Robbie the singer was as enthusiastic as ever and the band (consisting mainly of original members, a remarkable feat) were tight, was just wishing to hear a few tracks they didn't play (Welcome To The Gladhouse and Night Train), but all in all a great performance capped off with their hit I Melt With You. The Alarm, a stripped down version from their 80's heyday was the surprise for me. I didn't know what to expect being Mike Peters was the only original member and the band consisted of just him, bassist/guitarist James Stevenson (the legend), a drummer and Mike's wife on keyboards. All I can say is the band killed it! Rousing and entertaining, Mike was all over the stage and his voice survived the decades intact! The Alarm played all their hits as well as new material, the songs remained beautiful and poignant and Mike Peters stage banter was positivity unbound! If you get a chance to see this tour, do so! Each band was amazing and the music has survived the wear and tear of 30+ years. The ONLY negative about the show was the fact that it was so poorly promoted. I could barely find it on the venue's own website. Labelled the Sigma LXXXV (85) tour and not with the band's names. 400 at most people turned out, this led the concert to have an intimate club-like feel and it didn't deter the bands at all, but everyone I know was talking about the Keswick Theater show as they didn't even know this one existed. Maybe if the promoted it better the turnout would've had at least 1000 more people. Sad for the bands as they gave an amazing effort and show!

    Great bands, bad lineup

by Waterlilygirl71 on 8/24/19Paradise Rock Club presented by Citizens Bank - Boston

Three great bands, The Alarm, Modern English, and Jay Aston's Gene Loves Jezebel. My one and only complaint is that Gene Loves Jezebel ONLY played for 30 minutes as the opener. I bought the tickets to see them, having already seen The Alarm within the few years. Modern English got an hour long set. They had 1 hit in the US and i couldn't name another song other than Melt With You. It should have been an even split between them and GLG. Just my opinion but what should of been a great show was only ok.

I’ve been a fan of Gene Loves Jezebel since I met them in the 80s. Jay Aston is one of the nicest guys ever. Seeing Modern English and the Alarm was just icing on the cake.

What a fantastic show! Old material sounded great and the new stuff fits right in, all well received by a terrific crowd. Nobody works harder to give the fans a fun experience as Mike does! Without a doubt will get tickets next time they are around! Hadn’t really heard much Gene loves Jezebel before but really enjoyed their set.

by WickedAce on 8/23/19Saint Andrews Hall - Detroit

Concerts at Saint Andrews hall in Detroit are always awesome. The beer is cold and the bar is well staffed so there's no long lines. We saw The Alarm w/ Modern English - both bands were awesome! They sounded great and played all of my favorite songs,

    Unbelievable!!!

by B. F. on 8/21/19House of Blues Cleveland presented by Cricket Wireless - Cleveland

My wife and I have not been to a concert in quite some time due to work and family commitments/raising 2 sons. But it was her 50th birthday as well as our 25th wedding anniversary. We’ve been fans of the Alarm and Modern English for many years, so I surprised my wife with the tickets. All we kept saying to each other during and after the show was “WOW!!!!” The energy and quality of their music was incredible. “Melt with You” was one of our wedding songs. I have been listening to the Alarm since my college days as I found, and still do today, much of their music inspiring and timeless. Then to have Billy Corrigan from Smashing Pumpkins show up out of nowhere to play/sing “Rain in the Summertime” was unreal. Anyways, I am rambling on, but needless to say it was a tremendous show and could not have been a more perfect evening. Thank you for some new, wonderful memories!!!
