  • Should have gone to the movies!

by Jennifer1234 on 7/18/09Texas Motor Speedway - Fort WorthRating: 1 out of 5

I am going to start with something positive in that the comedian with the chicken on his head was really funny! My entire family really enjoyed him. I had debated to go see Harry Potter or to go with my kids and husband to see the Monster Truck event. I should have gone to the movies. My husband and I had seen a Monster Truck rally in Corpus Christi in an enclosed arena. That show was pretty good. The action kept coming and there never was down time. There was over two hours of down time with this and it was every 20 minutes of nothing! I have 7 year old twins; we can't just sit there and look at dirt! We were so excited for it to be outdoors because the assumption is they can get really crazy. Not the case. We sat there and waited through down time, boring races that had nothing to do with Monster Trucks and then came a horribly boring finale. It is supposed to be freestyle with the Monster Trucks and it was more like be careful not to crush the cars with a big vehicle. The Monster Trucks didn't even try to entertain the crowd. The show was not a show and just polluted the ozone unfortunately.

  • Learjet 550K better than Indy

by thedukeofStLouis on 7/16/09Texas Motor Speedway - Fort WorthRating: 5 out of 5

First the basics. Parking can be free and is not that much further away from the track than the pay parking area. The facility is the best I've experienced. All the seats that I saw were...well...SEATS!. No bleachers and all the problems associated with them. Everything here is clean, new and well organized. I love the track because, at a mile and a half, you can see the whole race and the high bank turns mean the cars go just about as fast as at Indy. Since the race is at night, the temps are comfortable. No broiling in the sun. And when the race was over, we were out of there in about 30 minutes. I have been to several IRL events and this was far and away the best experience I have had.

  • Fun!

by CPKWharton on 7/16/09Texas Motor Speedway - Fort WorthRating: 5 out of 5

The event was really fun. I would go again. Because of the wind, the extreme bikers could not perform during the pre-show, but it would have been fun to watch.

  • Driver radio freqs not available on-line

by Syno on 7/15/09Texas Motor Speedway - Fort WorthRating: 3 out of 5

The driver radio frequencies were not easily available on the internet before the race. Much has been written about the drab racing at the 2009 TMS IRL event (and even Dario Franchitti publicly apologized) as there was not much passing. I agree, but usually enjoy the race scanner as an element that makes-up for "road course" style racing on an oval. I was disappointed in that dimension as well.

  • Bombardier Learjet 550K IndyCar Series

by James1972 on 7/15/09Texas Motor Speedway - Fort WorthRating: 5 out of 5

For a First timer to this type of event, I normaly attend the Nascar Events, I have to say that I truely enjoyed myself. Although, I do have a few Gripes about the parking that was available on that night. I feel that more should have been done to provide parking for the fans that not ony took time out of their day to enjoy the event, but also used hard earned money and filled up all the empty spaces that were available closer to the track itself.

  • andretti green should have won

by linaka on 7/15/09Texas Motor Speedway - Fort WorthRating: 5 out of 5

loved the event. have never been to a night race before. had a great view of the pits and the start finish line. back straightway was difficult to see, but the big screens were perfect.

  • The race was ok

by racer4ever on 7/15/09Texas Motor Speedway - Fort WorthRating: 3 out of 5

I love attending any race event and enjoy myself no matter what but this race was pretty boring to be honest. I felt like a yuppy after the race was over saying they only went in circles but its true there was little to no racing action everyone followed each other the whole time.

  • Indy cars Racing at Night

by RobertG59 on 7/15/09Texas Motor Speedway - Fort WorthRating: 4 out of 5

This was my first experience at Texas Speedway and with Indy cars racing at night. I was very impressed with the view of the track from most of the seats, you could see the cars all the time during the race. It was also nice that this was a night race due to the heat and humidity. The race could have been a bit better, but that is due to the cars being "spec" vehicles that cannot easily pass each other. However, I enjoyed this race more than other Indy races I have attended due to the layout of Texas Speedway and comfortable seats (most tracks have bleachers) with good sight lines for the track. I will be back again next year for this race.

  • Awesome Race

  • Just seeing my son smile!

by Texican5 on 7/15/09Texas Motor Speedway - Fort WorthRating: 5 out of 5

This is a bias review since I enjoy all types of racing. One of the main reasons for going was the price of this event. It's so cheap that I was able to take my whole family of 6. The other reason is the huge smile my 5 year old son gets when he sees the Indy cars flying by. The other unique reason is when the racers are presented, they actually walk down the isles where the fans sit and hi 5 fans as they walk down the stairs. This is the only track on the circuit that presents the drivers in this fashion. We got great pictures of Danica & Helio and my daughters got hi 5's from Danica.

  • Indy Car racing awesome

by chiliman on 7/15/09Texas Motor Speedway - Fort WorthRating: 5 out of 5

I attended the race with my 22 year old son and my friend and his wife. The trafic was not bad and the leaving the race was quick. The race itself was good, lots of good racing and pit road action. The indy drivers do a great job with their fans. There is not a bad seat in the place. The race starts late in the day so it is not too hot even though the race is in June. I will go again next year.

  • Nascar Truck Series

by Chevman on 7/15/09Texas Motor Speedway - Fort WorthRating: 4 out of 5

The Truck Series in under rated in my mind. It is as exciting if not more than the top 2 NASCAR Series. Watching the racing under the lights of Texas Motor Speedway is also a joy as there are no problems seeing the action and getting away from the summer heat.

  • Hooked for Life

first Indy event I have ever been to, and loved every minute of it....

  • IRL @ Texas

by DrDesert on 7/14/09Texas Motor Speedway - Fort WorthRating: 3 out of 5

The IRL races at Texas Motor Speedway used to be the most exciting sports event in America. The cars would race at extremely high speeds and be racing in packs of 2 or 3 wide. I missed the 2008 race, but the 2007 and 2009 races were not nearly as exciting. The cars were stretched out single file and there was very little racing or drama in the final outcome. One of the drivers in 2007 told us that the type of tires they were using prevented passing, but I'm only passing along what I heard. I'm not sure what the answer is, but it would be nice to see the racing become exciting again, like it was from 2001-2005.

  • Bombardier was good. Wish Danika had done better.

by FreddieFee on 7/14/09Texas Motor Speedway - Fort WorthRating: 5 out of 5

Well ... loved the hot weather, cold beer, and cold drinks. I bought a Uniden scanner for the Indy Race at TMS, but never could quite get it right. otherwise it was a great event. btw - i downloaded the race frequencies, but they musta changed the frequenciees bc I could only get one. will work on it b4 2010.

  • Quick Ride

by leftturns on 7/14/09Texas Motor Speedway - Fort WorthRating: 4 out of 5

Absolutely LOVE the Bombardier Learjet that flies overhead before the race starts. The pilot waves at the crowd with his wings! The race cars are quick and it is fun to try to watch a favorite driver/car/team! Almost impossible until they slow down for a pit or a caution.

  • Wow! Bombardier was awesome!!!

by KMM1 on 7/14/09Texas Motor Speedway - Fort WorthRating: 5 out of 5

We went with our young adult boys and their friends, six of us in all. We had a great time. My one son, every time the cars came down the home stretch, he got goose bumps! I think form now on we will make this an annual event. Thanks for a memorable evening.

  • TMS is awesome

by 06AtlanticBlue on 7/14/09Texas Motor Speedway - Fort WorthRating: 5 out of 5

The Bombardier Learjet 550K IndyCar Series race at TMS was pretty nice. First time being at TMS and it is a very nice complex. I would go back again.
