About

That they are still roaring and soaring should be no surprise. That's just how they are built. TESLA may have been born in the mid 80s, but their bluesy, soulful sound is strongly embedded in the roots of organic, authentic, 1970s rock and roll. The same roots that produced bands like The Allman Brothers, Grand Funk Railroad, AC/DC, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Aerosmith.

The ground started shaking in Sacramento, CA, in 1984; gold country that would soon be producing some platinum. They started out as City Kidd, until a suggested name change to TESLA, honoring the eccentric inventor Nikola Tesla who pioneered all things electrical. Their 1986 platinum debut album, Mechanical Resonance, included Top 40 hits "Modern Day Cowboy" and "Little Suzi." 1989's double-platinum The Great Radio Controversy included hits "Heaven's Trail (No Way Out)" and "Love Song". Suddenly, TESLA, who had been touring with bands such as Def Leppard and David Lee Roth, earned headlining status. In 1990, TESLA helped reshape the face of modern rock music by stripping down to the Five Man Acoustical Jam, an informal collection of their biggest hits peppered with rock and roll classics by the Beatles, Stones, and others. This album produced their biggest hit single to date, a cover of Five Man Electrical Band's "Signs." Other 90s albums from Tesla include platinum selling Psychotic Supper and Bust a Nut. The band continues to record and release material including 9 new albums since 2000 and recently debuted their new single, "Time To Rock!"

TESLA has endured many of the same taste-changing challenges that affected many in the post-grunge world, but through it all, their blue-collar work ethic and dedication to the faithful fan base has helped them not just survive, but thrive. TESLA's legacy is alive and well as they continue to record and sellout venues all over the world. As comfortable, rugged, and dependable as your favorite pair of boots, they endure. TESLA is a celebration of the greatest spirits of rock and roll.

    TESLA ROCKS AGAIN

by SoftballLover on 9/13/09Ogden Theatre - Denver

This is probably the 6th or 7th time I've seen TESLA. As usual, they rocked the house. Even with technical sound difficulties, it was awesome. Hannon was on the money with the guitar and Jeff sounded like he did 20 years ago. I love these guys. Pretty sure this is the first time I've seen them when they didn't open with 'Comin' atcha Live'! Forever More was great though! Loved the mix of old and new and they played some old ones I haven't heard live in a while.

    They get better every year!

by Tfan1 on 9/8/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

Great show as always! They have some many great songs you always get disappointed when they don't play one of your favorites but that's the way it goes. They did play a couple of songs I didn't expect (Paradise and Rock Me To The Top) which was really cool. If you've never seen them live, you are missing out. I would like to see a little higher quality warm up band. That's one thing they've always lacked.

Tesla puts on an excellent show!!!

by Heatmi5er on 9/8/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

Tesla always puts on a great show, and this was no exception. Of all the bands I've seen live (Van Halen, Metallica, Bon Jovi, Elton John, Billy Joel, Kid Rock, etc...), Tesla sounds the best. And what's great is, unlike other acts, their shows are always unique. The set list changes from show to show, tour to tour. And not by a small amount. I mean, they pull out hidden gems every year. Sure, they'll do the hits & some new material. But they also pull out a lot of classic stuff from their older albums that they haven't played in years. It's great for the fans. If you get a chance to see Tesla, do it. You won't be disappointed. This show, like their others, was simply fantastic.

    Tesla Rocked the House

by Knezgirl on 9/8/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

That concert rocked. He has an amazing voice. Had fantastic seats. The only disappointment was the concert was too short. Started about 8:50 and was over by 10:20. I'm use to seeing concerts where the headline band plays for 2 hours.

by aerokid1976 on 9/8/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

Tesla was right on time at DTE on Saturday night. They came out Rockin there lastest release Forever More and sounded great. They played lots of older cuts from there earlier days that just energized the crowd.

I was very impressed with the DTE Amphitheater. Tesla put on a fabulous show. I was disappointed that they didn't play "Caught up in a dream" or "What you give" but overall Great show.

Tesla still sounds as great as they did years ago. My only complaint is that they didn't play for very long.

    Awesome Show

by nsikes on 9/6/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

My wife and I went to the show Saturday night and Tesla sounded as good as they did back in the eighties. The night flowed smoothly and Jeff sang right on for every song. Ya know it isn't fair, Jeff still looks like he did 20 years ago. I now look like my dad and he still looks the same. Overall Tesla is always a great band to see and a great deal for the ticket price and the new album is great. They played "Breakin Free" off the new album which I was really hoping they would. The crowd was absolutely going crazy and a couple of times the crowd was screaming so loud I couldn't hear the band.

    Telsa Rocked the house

by Stoneman003 on 9/6/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

From start to finish, Tesla rocked the house. Amazing guitars, drums and vocals. They still have it after 23 years. They kept you on your feet throughout the show. Highly recommend to anyone who has never seen Tesla to see them. To diehards, continue the support for tesla to keep rockin on. Over all, the show was well worth every cent.

Tesla did not play long enough

by TLMcCormick on 9/6/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

I was disappointed that Tesla didn't play a lot of their older songs. In particular the song 'It's not what you got but what you give" I was also surprised at how few people attended the concert. I am from Toledo Ohio and travelled two hours to get to the venue. I am wondering if they did not get much preshow publicity for this event. Overall though, I did enjoy the concert and I am certain I will buy a copy of their new CD.

    Tesla is the best!

by KiKi48910 on 9/6/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

My husband and I went to the Tesla concert last night at DTE and had a wonderful time. I've been to many concerts in my time and Tesla by far is one of the best bands to see live and DTE is the best venue to see any concert.

    Tesla had mike problems

by hockeybum on 9/6/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

The sound system did not sound right. I think Jeffs mike was the problem, it sounded like the guitars were drowning him out for the most part of the show.

    Tesla still ROCKS!!!!

by Caligirl48021 on 9/6/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

I have been going to see Tesla since the late 80's...in their hometown ( in bars) and here in the Detroit area since I moved back here in 1995. These guys are all top notch musicians that write meaningful music...AND ROCK OUR ASSES OFF!!!!! It was non-stop metal heaven for almost 2 hours, with the crown on their feet the whole time. DTE ( Pine Knob for us purists) is still the best outdoor venue to see a concert.

    TESLA WAS LOUD AS HELL

by MARKSLOU on 9/6/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

MY EARS ARE STILL RINGING. AFTER ALL THESE YEARS THEY STILL CAN SING AND PLAY LIKE IT'S THE 80'S. I'LL BE THERE THE NEXT TIME THEY COME AROUND.
