About

That they are still roaring and soaring should be no surprise. That's just how they are built. TESLA may have been born in the mid 80s, but their bluesy, soulful sound is strongly embedded in the roots of organic, authentic, 1970s rock and roll. The same roots that produced bands like The Allman Brothers, Grand Funk Railroad, AC/DC, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Aerosmith.

The ground started shaking in Sacramento, CA, in 1984; gold country that would soon be producing some platinum. They started out as City Kidd, until a suggested name change to TESLA, honoring the eccentric inventor Nikola Tesla who pioneered all things electrical. Their 1986 platinum debut album, Mechanical Resonance, included Top 40 hits "Modern Day Cowboy" and "Little Suzi." 1989's double-platinum The Great Radio Controversy included hits "Heaven's Trail (No Way Out)" and "Love Song". Suddenly, TESLA, who had been touring with bands such as Def Leppard and David Lee Roth, earned headlining status. In 1990, TESLA helped reshape the face of modern rock music by stripping down to the Five Man Acoustical Jam, an informal collection of their biggest hits peppered with rock and roll classics by the Beatles, Stones, and others. This album produced their biggest hit single to date, a cover of Five Man Electrical Band's "Signs." Other 90s albums from Tesla include platinum selling Psychotic Supper and Bust a Nut. The band continues to record and release material including 9 new albums since 2000 and recently debuted their new single, "Time To Rock!"

TESLA has endured many of the same taste-changing challenges that affected many in the post-grunge world, but through it all, their blue-collar work ethic and dedication to the faithful fan base has helped them not just survive, but thrive. TESLA's legacy is alive and well as they continue to record and sellout venues all over the world. As comfortable, rugged, and dependable as your favorite pair of boots, they endure. TESLA is a celebration of the greatest spirits of rock and roll.

    Tesla rocks even without sound!

by Bobbysgirl on 9/14/09Ogden Theatre - Denver

Tesla is definately a peoples band! It is great how they interact with the audience and it made the audience that much more animated. Their performance was really fun to watch even when the sound went out twice. They sucked it up and kept going with the show with a great sense of humor.

    tesla still rocks

by losferwrds on 9/14/09Ogden Theatre - Denver

i don't have anything bad to say about tesla. they put on a great show. the only complaint i have is with the venue, the ogden. two times during the show the sound just cut out. the first time took about ten minutes to get back up. the second time was shorter. the band handled it great, i felt bad for them. tesla is definetly better than the venue they played.

    Tesla at the Ogden

by DiElli on 9/14/09Ogden Theatre - Denver

What a breath of fresh air. Tesla is still the rockin band that they have always been. Never have I seen a band, that still has it together. Jeff Keith can still sing that tune, almost like seeing them when they first burst onto the scene with Mechanical Resonance in 1986. He has not lost a step in his singing ability, if anything he sings better. Frank Hannon is something else. His guitar skills still shock me and he is so cordial, actually all of them are. Their celebrity has not gotten the best of them. And although Tommy Skeoch is no longer in the band, which by the way is dearly missed by me, Dave Rude makes a positive impression. And of course Luccketta and Wheat are as awesome as ever. Rarely is there a band nowadays that can deliver the goods but Tesla can and does. Alot of the bands that got popular in the 80's became tainted and arrogant and wanted nothing to do with there fans....."hey man you wouldn't be where you were if not for the fans, so don't fool yourselves." Tesla loves their fans and you can tell, they go all out, they take you to town and back. They know where it's at, it's about the music and they don't let you forget it. If you have never seen Tesla or haven't seen them in awhile, check them out, you will not be disappointed. Long live Tesla.

    Best show hands down!!

by RokGodess on 9/13/09Ogden Theatre - Denver

I have to say Tesla ROCKED this show... despite technical difficulties they pulled it out & jammed like the Rock Stars they are! In fact I would say they sound even better then before! The Ogden was the perfect venue for them...wouldnt have wanted to see them anywhere else! I hope they have plans to come back soon...would definately rock out with them again! Two thumbs up to good old rock n roll from the best damn rock era in time...the 80's baby!

Tesla + Denver = ROCKIN GOOD TIME

    by onegr8fan on 9/13/09Ogden Theatre - Denver

Jeff and the boys sound wonderful (from the 2nd row!) A few issues with the sound at the Ogden, but the boys took it in stride and still put on a great show. The down side...no lil' suzie The up side - Jeff looks as fine as always, sounds great and it is obvious that he is loving the music.

"Tesla" As good as ever before!!

    by U812WFo on 9/13/09Ogden Theatre - Denver

Tesla sounded as good as ever.Their music was very crisp and clear like they have done this before. ha ha. Even with two electrical problems during their set, they and the audience tolerated it and it didn't get them down. Very Awesome. my wife was only bummed because they didn't get to play "What You Give", i told her probably because of the down time with the malfunctioning electricians. i definitely recommend seeing them any chance you can. their new music rocks just like the old, they always had a great rock beat and rhythm and they still do. Rumors were going around them taping live for their Album... ? This event and venue reminded me of old times on the Sunset Strip when I was a roadie for about five local bands back in the eighties. good times!

    Awesome show

    by F1jones on 9/13/09Ogden Theatre - Denver

Despite two PA outages, undoubtedly one of the best concerts I've ever been to. Tesla's energy is unrivaled and their set selection is intense. There were no let downs (aside from said outages) or lulls in the song selections. They keep the intensity up from the first second to the last. I won't miss another show from this band, and they vaulted way up the order in my list of favorite bands with this one!

    Great American Rock Band!

    by wwwHardrockin80scom on 9/13/09Ogden Theatre - Denver

Tesla is truly one of the Greatest American Hard Rock bands ever! They sounded as good as they did the first time I saw them in 1987 opening for Alice Cooper. Jeff's vocals were spot on and sounded the same as he did back in the hay day of the music scene. Their new music is relevant although you would not know that by listening to the radio these days.
