Tennessee Volunteers at Neyland Stadium
The University of Tennessee is home to one of the great programs in the Southeastern Conference, and, really, all of college football. Tennessee produced an explosive and exciting brand of football in its first year under head coach Josh Heupel. The Volunteers set eight single-season school records on the offensive side of the ball and ranked top-10 nationally in team tackles for loss. The 2021 Vols orchestrated the nation's "fastest" offense, averaging 2.99 plays per minute while owning the FBS' seventh-best scoring offense at 39.3 points per game.
Tennessee returns eight starters on offense, including four offensive linemen. Defensively, the squad returns seven starters from an attacking unit that ranked second in the SEC and seventh in the FBS for tackles for a loss.
The Tennessee Volunteers have had some of the greatest football players of all time suit up for them, including defensive end Reggie White from 1980 to 1983 and quarterback Peyton Manning from 1994 to 1997 to most recent Derek Barnett, Cordarrelle Patterson and Alvin Kamara. The Vols play in Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, Tennessee, which opened as Shields-Watkins Field in 1921 and has a current capacity of 101,915.
Tennessee Volunteers Football History
The University of Tennessee first fielded a varsity football team in 1891 and became a charter member of the Southeastern Conference in 1932. Robert Neyland was a major architect both literally and figuratively in the Volunteers' success in the 20th century and beyond. A brigadier general during World War II, Neyland coached Tennessee from 1926 to 1934, from 1936 to 1940 and from 1946 to 1952, leading the Vols to four national championships, five SEC championships and two Southern Conference championships. Neyland is not only the namesake of Tennessee's stadium; his input in renovating the field's infrastructure has been the basis for every major phase of renovation since the 1960s.
Johnny Majors was a star at halfback for Tennessee in the '50s, and after leading Pitt to a national championship in 1976, returned to Knoxville as a coach from 1977 to 1992. Phillip Fulmer then went on to lead the Volunteers to a BCS National Championship in 1998, as quarterback Tee Martin and wide receiver Peerless Price helped defeat Florida State 23-16 in the 1999 Fiesta Bowl to cap off an undefeated season. While the Tennessee-Alabama game is not always played on the "Third Saturday of October," the name is synonymous with one of the most storied rivalries in the SEC. Tennessee also has historic rivalries against the University of Kentucky, University of Florida and in-state Southeastern Conference member Vanderbilt.

Digital ticket entrance was smooth. Stadium upgrades are nice. Great venue. Go vols!
As a freshman at ut, this was my first ever college football game, and it didn’t disappoint. The stadium is amazing, and the crowd was unbelievable.
Home opener for football team. Great seats 35 yard line 44 rows up. Only weird thing, seats 1 and 2 are in middle of the row. That seems odd to us. Thanks Ticketmaster and the university of Tennessee. Seem less transaction.
Having the digital ticket was super quick once you got up to the scanner. The only problem was the other fans who didn’t have their ticket downloaded or didn’t know how to scan their ticket. It made the lines very long. But once everyone knows what they’re doing, it works great
Fast and easy process and we will def use again. Prices and location where seats are was so easy.
Great game day atmosphere. The beer line near the visitors section is long and you can easily miss half a quarter.
Took my girlfriend to her first Tennessee football game. She is from the north so she has never had the "SEC Experience". The seat prices were very reasonable. The beers were normal stadium prices ($8-10). The weather wasn't perfect but the game was. We loved it.
Great venue for a football game. The whole Big Orange experience was excllent!
Game was great but the 1 hour lightening delay wasn't explained well and the vendor staff was very rude and unprepared. During the delay, one stand was out of soda. The next stand had soda but no ice. One pizza stand didn't have pizza ready and people stood in line for over 20 minutes. They were very rude during the entire process
The seats in 331 Row M seats 19-20 should say limited view! When you weren't having to ask someone to move off the steps, you were having to watch part of the game through the safety bars on the entrance steps. Most were nice when you asked them to move, but a few were simply drunk idiots. There is a reason that alcohol shouldn't be served at college football games. Overall, the seats were actually terrible due to the terrible view.
Game was fine. Weather delay caused almost an 80 minute delay,
Great time for my and my boys. Everyone enjoyed the game. Stadium needs some serious updating. Seats are fine but lighting underneath etc. make it dark and dreary. Food was very average and the prices as with all places like this were way too high.
Enjoyed the game at Nissan stadium. Good variety of vendors. The seats in the end zone were great and they have 2 nice jumbo trons on each end. Nashville is a great place to hang out after the game too.
Other than the extremely "HOT" temperatures this was a fun experience.
Absolutely loved the game!!!!! We were celebrating our 14th anniversary, what better way than with the "VOLS" !! The game was my first to ever attend and I was amazed at just how awesome Vols fans are............Go Vols :)
It was so much fun! Would love to do it again. Go Vols!
The stadium, pre-game, and atmosphere were awesome! Plenty of space and plenty of restrooms! The concessions were horrible. Employees that could care less and were unprofessional. This is the second bad concessions experience I've had at LP/Nissan, get it together, it's already hard enough to pay $5 for a water.
great game!!!! alot of scoring which i love. it was my first game on college level in football. the seats were very nice.
Great seats, great price, enjoyable game. Don't get many chances to get to middle Tennessee and see my son, but I got tickets and we went early with parking tickets and took in the tail gating and the game, even with the 1:20 delay for weather we had a ball.
