About

A shipwreck leaves an infant orphaned on the West African shore. The helpless baby is taken under the protection of a gorilla tribe and becomes part of their family. When he encounters his first human - Jane Porter, a curious young explorer - both their worlds are transformed forever. Based on the award-winning animated film, Disney's TARZAN brings this spectacular story to life. Phil Collins has written the music and lyrics, expanding his songs for Disney's film into a complete theatre score.

    I Fell In Love

by StarGazer10 on 10/30/17Amaturo Theater at Broward Center - Ft Lauderdale

What a FANtastic Show!!!! Such A Fun Cast, and story. Tarzan was Super Charming & sexy, I admit. Jane and Dad were funny. Loved how they made the Jungle from green umbrellas and the monkies were sweet, dancing all around. Mom , Dad and best friend monkies were unknown before, but so fun to see their story. Fun costumes All around. All the singing and dancing was so entertaining, just was a special must see show that puts Broadway in Florida above all other Broadway shows. I love our local talent!!!! Excellent, Excellent, Excellent Show!!! Great Job All!

    Tarzan was pretty good.

by jrloveless on 10/27/17Amaturo Theater at Broward Center - Ft Lauderdale

I enjoyed the play. There were a couple of things that I was a little disappointed in because after all, this is Tarzan, and I expected a little more of his signature yell, which they only had him do once at the very end. I also expected a little more of his 'swinging through the trees'. But I understand this is reality and there are certain limitations they most likely faced. We saw it opening night and I know there were still some things that they had to work out, so I can forgive the 'oops' moments. I did see a few things that made me raise my eyebrows though. One thing was the first time you see Jane. The opening of the scene was pure blacklight with fluorescent bugs and flora and fauna. It was very much tripping on LSD moments. Then it was as if they went full on she was having an orgasm on stage... or masturbating to the flora/fauna. I'm like what is going on? Did they really write it that way? She was excited in the original script, but WHAT is this? I had to stifle my laughter because it really didn't go with the play. The other part that I found was there were certain parts which felt stilted and didn't flow. Especially 'Trashing the Camp'. I love that song from the original Disney movie and it was a jumbled mess. It just sounded like a bunch of crashing dishes. I could barely hear any of the singing at all and the actual sounds didn't even sound like they were making music just a bunch of crashing dishes and harsh noises. I was truly disappointed in that. My favorite character was Terk. LOVED HIM! He was awesome! They chose a great character there. The actor for Tarzan was a good choice. Kerchek was also a great choice. The actress for Jane was okay. She seemed older than expected. Not saying that age is an issue, but she just didn't fit IMO. Her whole persona was rather beyond mature for what Jane was with regards to age, looks, etc. She appeared much older than Tarzan and it was off putting. Overall, it was enjoyable and I would recommend seeing it at least once, even if only just for Terk.

It was not professional. The sound wasn’t great. Couldn’t u Dee stand the singing, and not that great either. Wasted my money and was very disappointed.

    Tarzan was fun...!!

by Deoli on 10/25/17Amaturo Theater at Broward Center - Ft Lauderdale

I took my grandchildren, ages 7, 8, and 10 to see Tarzan the Musical. We all thoroughly enjoyed the show. The actors were great, the music wonderful, and the story well told. The Amaturo Theater is smaller and more intimate than other theaters and you can see the stage from anywhere in the theater. One of my favorite venues.

I know the story of Tarzan but I did not know what to expect in musical format. It was fabulous! Loved the stage presentation and rope swinging. Singing was awesome. I recommend to anyone that wants to experience something a little different on stage.

    Professional Quality

by JimFi on 2/3/15Anderson Theatre - Marietta

This show was so good, I had to keep reminding myself that the performers are all high school students. This really was a professional-quality show. Kudos to the educators at Pebblebrook High School's performing arts program. And a special congratulations to the performers for achieving a such a high level of quality. Kristian Hamilton, Lalique Nelson, Cansler McGhee, and Commodore Primous were at the top of their game, and Jake Kessloff's performance as Young Tarzan was second to none. We expect to see more great things starring Kessloff in the future, and we wouldn't be surprised at all to see all of them on Broadway someday. Keep up the great work!!
