Tanya Tucker on Tour

From the beginning of her career, when she was a teenager who sounded like someone way beyond her years, Tanya Tucker has been blessed with an uncommonly expressive voice. Throughout her artistic evolution over the decades, that's never changed. To this day, when you catch the country legend in concert, you're listening to a singer who can tell a story in song like nobody else. And what's country music about, if not telling stories? Whether she's delivering some of her earliest hits, like "Delta Dawn" and "Would You Lay With Me (In a Field of Stone)," digging into later material, or changing things up completely with covers of tunes by the likes of the Eagles or Bruce Springsteen, Tucker approaches each performance of every song like it's the most important one of her life — because in that moment, it is.

Tanya Tucker in Concert

Tanya Tucker has blazed a long and singular path in country music, starting in 1972 when the shockingly precocious singer, only 13 years old at the time, debuted with her hit "Delta Dawn" (before Helen Reddy ever recorded it). With a musical maturity that made her sound unquestionably adult, she churned out a string of No. 1 country hits while she was still in her teens, songs like "What's Your Mama's Name" and "Would You Lay With Me (In a Field of Stone)." And of course the hits kept coming after she moved on to actual adulthood, with Tucker maintaining a presence in the Country Top 10 all the way into the late '90s. She's always had an outlaw attitude that set her apart from the pack — for instance, she released a rock 'n' roll album in 1979, when such things were unheard of for mainstream country stars. So her appeal has lasted, existing outside the constantly changing trends of country. For instance, when she released 2019's While I'm Livin', her first album in a decade, enough people were paying attention to ensure that the record made it into the Top 10 on the Country Album charts.

I was disappointed because she complained, said she didn’t want to be there, and gave tequila to the front row to drink. Very Unprofessional Very Disappointed

  • Tanya is a classic country artist!

Even though we all waited for Tanya for over an hour after the opening act finished; Tanya didn’t disappoint because she still sounds great, is hilarious, and has a catalog that rivals just about anyone in country music! I also liked some of her new songs she performed. Tanya Tucker is classic country music and she’s one of the best women in the history of country music!

She went above and beyond for the concert following a recent surgery! She was so gracious and took so much time to meet and sign autographs for fans. Thanks Tanya! Hope to see you in Knoxville again soon!!

It was 45 minutes after the first singer before Tanya came out. I saw her at Harrah's in Cherokee and it was a great experience. I think she showed lack of respect to those who attended this concert. She was on stage for an hour. Me and my friends were disappointed.

by Doug on 10/2/23Atlanta Symphony Hall - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Honestly I thought for the price she would have went on longer than one hour . She is older and still recovering from surgery. That said she still sounds like she did yrs ago. No complaints. I thought she did great all things considered and I would go again.

Tanya Tucker put on a phenomenal show. This was only her second show after recovering (she is still recovering) from neck surgery. She was very kind and interacted with her fans. She is the kind of singer that makes you feel right at home. One in a million for sure!

I understand that Tanya is recovering from neck surgery, but this was still one of the best concerts I have attended! She was amazing and very loving to her audience! What a wonderful show, my friends and I had the best time. We love 90's Country and reliving our youth! Great job Tanya we love you!

This was an awesome venue. Tanya is a country legend. The show was pretty good. My only complaint was just a little bit too much talking. Other than that, it was good.

  • Disappointed

by StephanieMac on 10/2/23Tennessee Theatre - KnoxvilleRating: 2 out of 5

My husband and I were looking forward to seeing Tanya Tucker for the second time (the first was 35 years ago). We were completely unaware that she had an opening act. Trisha Gene Brady was excellent though. Unfortunately, we waited for over 45 minutes after the opening act and finally decided to leave as it did not appear that Tanya Tucker was going to go on stage anytime soon. We later saw that she did not come out until a full hour after the opening act left the stage and an 1 and a half after the tickets said the concert would start. Just a suggestion, if there is an opening act, make the customers aware on the front end. Furthermore, if the artist is ill or unable to come out in a timely manner, at least make those in attendance aware of the potential delay. I understand she sounded great but we opted not to hang around to find out.

The concert was ok but she was very unprofessional because she was late to the stage and was giving tequila to people in front row during concert.

The concert was better than I had imagined! Tanya can still hit the notes even though she was recovering from neck surgery. She was hilarious too! Loved it!
