Tanya Tucker on Tour

From the beginning of her career, when she was a teenager who sounded like someone way beyond her years, Tanya Tucker has been blessed with an uncommonly expressive voice. Throughout her artistic evolution over the decades, that's never changed. To this day, when you catch the country legend in concert, you're listening to a singer who can tell a story in song like nobody else. And what's country music about, if not telling stories? Whether she's delivering some of her earliest hits, like "Delta Dawn" and "Would You Lay With Me (In a Field of Stone)," digging into later material, or changing things up completely with covers of tunes by the likes of the Eagles or Bruce Springsteen, Tucker approaches each performance of every song like it's the most important one of her life — because in that moment, it is.

Tanya Tucker in Concert

Tanya Tucker has blazed a long and singular path in country music, starting in 1972 when the shockingly precocious singer, only 13 years old at the time, debuted with her hit "Delta Dawn" (before Helen Reddy ever recorded it). With a musical maturity that made her sound unquestionably adult, she churned out a string of No. 1 country hits while she was still in her teens, songs like "What's Your Mama's Name" and "Would You Lay With Me (In a Field of Stone)." And of course the hits kept coming after she moved on to actual adulthood, with Tucker maintaining a presence in the Country Top 10 all the way into the late '90s. She's always had an outlaw attitude that set her apart from the pack — for instance, she released a rock 'n' roll album in 1979, when such things were unheard of for mainstream country stars. So her appeal has lasted, existing outside the constantly changing trends of country. For instance, when she released 2019's While I'm Livin', her first album in a decade, enough people were paying attention to ensure that the record made it into the Top 10 on the Country Album charts.

  • Perfect

by PatsDaughters on 12/13/16Blue Ocean Music Hall - SalisburyRating: 5 out of 5

My sister and I got 3 tickets to take my Dad for his 80th birthday and it was perfect. Tanya was the perfect performer, spoke a little, sang a lot and the venue was intimate. I wish our waitress was quicker but it didn't effect the evening.

  • Tanya Tucker - amazing as always!

by SunshineinSalisbury on 12/13/16Blue Ocean Music Hall - SalisburyRating: 5 out of 5

Tanya Tucker provided great entertainment. I would have liked more of her 'oldies' but what she did sing was great. I would definitely go to see her again, should she return to the Blue Ocean. Although, the audience members should not be allowed to interrupt the show for their own agenda!!!!

by JenRevKen on 11/21/16Florence Civic Center - FlorenceRating: 3 out of 5

The show was really good, but I felt the sound was not up to par. The opening act, Deana Carter sounded garbled. Others around me were saying the same thing. Terri Clark and Tanya Tucker sounded better, but was mediocre at best. Florence needs to have screens where you can see the artist better, esp if people want to stand in front of you blocking your view. I have a bad foot and cannot stand and was not on the floor, yet people were in front blocking my view. The concession people were nice. On the whole, Florence Civic Center needs a major upgrade if they expect concerts to have large crowds.

The "Texas Tornado" did not disappoint! Tanya showed she still has it and the setlist included many of her top hits. Tanya really connects with her audience and we loved her!

Took my best friend and my dad. My dad does not get excited about much except for a bass over 10 lbs or a new guitar - and his comment was that Tanya put on an "excellent" show!! She entertained, she sang, she shined.... she was in a word STUNNING!!! Fantastic show!!!

She is such a sweet lady, this is the second time we've seen her here at the Golden Nugget in Lake Charles. After her shows she doesn't run off the stage never to be seen again.. She stays and mingles with her fans, signing autographs, taking pictures, shaking hands etc

This was a wonderful show!! Tanya did not disappoint. She was entertaining from the moment she stepped on stage until the end of the show. She even interacted with the audience at the end of the show, signed autographs, and took selfies. I :( didn't get one... Thanks for wonderful night.

  • Tanya Tucker is Better than she ever was.

by Zorama on 8/30/16Golden Nugget - Lake Charles - Lake CharlesRating: 4 out of 5

I saw her in Vegas 25 years ago and she put on a terrific show. I was unsure what to expect after all of this time, but I can honestly say, I was not disappointed. She is a showman at its best. She is like a fine bottle of wine, she just gets better with age. I think she is better today than she was 25 years ago. Mature, polish, and still has that gravel in her voice, which has always been her style.
