Tanya Tucker on Tour

From the beginning of her career, when she was a teenager who sounded like someone way beyond her years, Tanya Tucker has been blessed with an uncommonly expressive voice. Throughout her artistic evolution over the decades, that's never changed. To this day, when you catch the country legend in concert, you're listening to a singer who can tell a story in song like nobody else. And what's country music about, if not telling stories? Whether she's delivering some of her earliest hits, like "Delta Dawn" and "Would You Lay With Me (In a Field of Stone)," digging into later material, or changing things up completely with covers of tunes by the likes of the Eagles or Bruce Springsteen, Tucker approaches each performance of every song like it's the most important one of her life — because in that moment, it is.

Tanya Tucker in Concert

Tanya Tucker has blazed a long and singular path in country music, starting in 1972 when the shockingly precocious singer, only 13 years old at the time, debuted with her hit "Delta Dawn" (before Helen Reddy ever recorded it). With a musical maturity that made her sound unquestionably adult, she churned out a string of No. 1 country hits while she was still in her teens, songs like "What's Your Mama's Name" and "Would You Lay With Me (In a Field of Stone)." And of course the hits kept coming after she moved on to actual adulthood, with Tucker maintaining a presence in the Country Top 10 all the way into the late '90s. She's always had an outlaw attitude that set her apart from the pack — for instance, she released a rock 'n' roll album in 1979, when such things were unheard of for mainstream country stars. So her appeal has lasted, existing outside the constantly changing trends of country. For instance, when she released 2019's While I'm Livin', her first album in a decade, enough people were paying attention to ensure that the record made it into the Top 10 on the Country Album charts.

    by CtryFan4Life on 9/18/17Rialto Square Theatre - JolietRating: 3 out of 5

Could not see Sammy's face at all; hidden in shadows throughout the performance. Tanya sang some tribute songs; would have preferred her own. No encore.

  • Tanya Tucker and Sammy Kershaw

    by dreamys1 on 9/18/17Rialto Square Theatre - JolietRating: 5 out of 5

Tanya was fantastic! Really connected with the audience. Her voice was on point! Hasn't changed since she started in the biz. Sammy was fun too but he should of kept the hat off. It hid his face and he still looks great so why hide it.

  • She's Still Got It!

    by frc54 on 9/18/17Rialto Square Theatre - JolietRating: 4 out of 5

The venue continues to allow patrons to disrupt the other customers in the theater by arriving late, getting up and down to get drinks, blocking viewing to get pictures, etc. As for the performance, Sammy Kershaw was absolutely enjoyable, and Tanya Tucker did not disappoint. I never thought I'd ever get the chance to see her in person, but she still sounds as good as she did on her records of many years ago. What a fabulous performance.

  • Could not control the crowd

by Anonymous on 8/15/17Golden Nugget - Lake Charles - Lake CharlesRating: 1 out of 5

walked in to the event everyone e had assigned seating... the crowd in front and behind us stood up the whole time and could not see the stage. They were told to sit down twice but they did not listen to the staff. We could only see the performer form the large monitor on the wall. Luckily they were there or we would not have been able to see anything.

Saw Tanya in Lake Charles on 8-12-2017 and her performance was wonderful. The ole gal can still bring it...would definitely go see her again.

  • Tanya Tucker @ Golden Nugget

by Bebe60 on 8/15/17Golden Nugget - Lake Charles - Lake CharlesRating: 4 out of 5

Awesome show. I loved how she started Delta Dawn with Amazaing Grace. My seats were great but I wish I was a little taller. After the tall guy sat in front of me I had to lean a lot, I try to stand but the elderly people behind me on the risers ask me to sit down. LOL So keep that in mind. the sound was great.

Ms. Tucker had an awesome show!! Thoroughly enjoyed the concert, just wish she would have sang a few more of her songs. I knew she would sing "What Do I Do About Me" and "Down to My Last Teardrop". Overall it was wonderful and I would go to see her again!

Great show. Really nice event center, food was great at Saltgrass. Lots of food and drink options

  • Great venue, seating a little tight

by JWTexas on 8/15/17Golden Nugget - Lake Charles - Lake CharlesRating: 5 out of 5

Tanya was fantastic. The Golden Nugget is great. The only complaint was width of seating. They are standard “conference seating” chairs which to be honest are not wide enough for most of the population these days. As a result we had people on both sides of us falling into our seats and we had to basically sit sideways.

GREAT show. Highly recommend. Pleasantly surprised by performance. Didn't know what to expect. Exceeded what I expected. She is better now than way back when. Really enjoyed her concert.

  • Songs

by RickyWd on 8/14/17Golden Nugget - Biloxi - BiloxiRating: 2 out of 5

Not enough Tanya Songs. I did not want to hear Loretta Lynn songs. Too much time taken by attendees coming up to the stage for recognition. Also too much talk and not enough action.

  • Grand Country 5

by JPaulD on 7/27/17Grand Casino Hinckley Amphitheater - HinckleyRating: 4 out of 5

Great show, weather, and amphitheater. To have these five performers all in the same place is a great tribute to ever arranged this. I hope there is another country performance like this every year. Bring a cushion to sit on because the benches are not comfortable.

  • Sound was awful...this isn't a rock show

by JS112 on 7/23/17Grand Casino Hinckley Amphitheater - HinckleyRating: 1 out of 5

The sound was excellent for BJ and Marty, was too bass-heavy for John's set, and was so awfully bass-heavy for Tanya that we left during her third song. You couldn't hear her at all. This was from front-center, 17th row. On the way out the sound terrible by the sound board. The burned out rockers behind the board didn't seem to have a clue that this wasn't a Motley Crue show. Tanya seemed to be putting a lot of effort into her performance but it was unintelligible due to the crew. Wasted my money on this one.

  • Each Artist was memorable

by Jeanie200 on 7/14/17Grand Casino Hinckley Amphitheater - HinckleyRating: 5 out of 5

From Connie Smith to Tanya Tucker the concert was absolutely fabulous. Each artist played for a fair amount of time and sounded great. The only downside was that John Anderson has a soft voice and in the front seats you could not hear him sing, in the back standing it sounded great. Loved the show. It was also fun to see the artists stay and listen to the other artists.

  • Tanya tucker was great in concert!

by Countrygirlabby on 7/13/17Grand Casino Hinckley Amphitheater - HinckleyRating: 5 out of 5

Had a great time at the outdoor concert at hinckley casino. Weather was great. All the performing artists were awesome. And headliner Tanya Tucker was the best! We had front row seats - row 1. Definitely would go again. Great summer fun!
