Tanya Tucker on Tour
From the beginning of her career, when she was a teenager who sounded like someone way beyond her years, Tanya Tucker has been blessed with an uncommonly expressive voice. Throughout her artistic evolution over the decades, that's never changed. To this day, when you catch the country legend in concert, you're listening to a singer who can tell a story in song like nobody else. And what's country music about, if not telling stories? Whether she's delivering some of her earliest hits, like "Delta Dawn" and "Would You Lay With Me (In a Field of Stone)," digging into later material, or changing things up completely with covers of tunes by the likes of the Eagles or Bruce Springsteen, Tucker approaches each performance of every song like it's the most important one of her life — because in that moment, it is.
Tanya Tucker in Concert
Tanya Tucker has blazed a long and singular path in country music, starting in 1972 when the shockingly precocious singer, only 13 years old at the time, debuted with her hit "Delta Dawn" (before Helen Reddy ever recorded it). With a musical maturity that made her sound unquestionably adult, she churned out a string of No. 1 country hits while she was still in her teens, songs like "What's Your Mama's Name" and "Would You Lay With Me (In a Field of Stone)." And of course the hits kept coming after she moved on to actual adulthood, with Tucker maintaining a presence in the Country Top 10 all the way into the late '90s. She's always had an outlaw attitude that set her apart from the pack — for instance, she released a rock 'n' roll album in 1979, when such things were unheard of for mainstream country stars. So her appeal has lasted, existing outside the constantly changing trends of country. For instance, when she released 2019's While I'm Livin', her first album in a decade, enough people were paying attention to ensure that the record made it into the Top 10 on the Country Album charts.
The show was outstanding!! Her daughters band is great!! Will be going again!!
Tanya Taucker knows how to entertain! A true country music legend. Fantastic performance!
Tanya was great! Enjoyed all her songs and her upbeat performance
Tanya did not disappoint. She played about 90 minutes, singing her classics and covers from songs originally produced by those who inspired her. She was energetic and really engaged with the audience. Her preshow band, Reverie Lane, was also great.
Loved the smaller venue and Tanya was GREAT! She sang her heart out. I got chills at the finale.
Tanya Tucker may be old but she still can bring it! Dinner & show at the Birchmere was a great nite out!
This is the 3rd time I have seen Tanya and she is still awesome. I hope she comes back next year to the Birchmere!
Tanya was wonderful. Doing her great songs and offering tribute to some of those who have gone. Her daughter was a backup singer and you can certainly tell the pedigree! She rocked the room and interacted with the crowd. Felt sorry for her in that her bus was stuck in traffic from Annapolis to Alexandria and she did not arrive until after 5 pm. The only thing that diminished the evening was the food and the changes in the Birchmere. What happened to the water and the food is just not as good as it used to be. Service was a bit spotty also.
This was by far the longest show I've seen at the Birchmere because it was the only one with an opening act. Emily Earle is gorgeous, has a beautiful voice, is a great singer, and she wrote all of her songs and her lyrics were outstanding and memorable. She was worth seeing. Tanya Tucker looked great, sounded great, had more energy, spunk, and personality on stage than almost anyone I've ever seen. Her backing band was also one of the best I've seen play live and you could tell that they are very talented musicians. Their performances of her hit songs were very true to the original recordings. She also did a few famous country songs from other artists and an album track of her own (Can't Run From Yourself) which was fantastic and one of the highlights of the show. One of her backup singers was really pretty displayed very much the same personality on stage as Tanya, which made more sense when she told us it was her daughter Presley. This was probably the best show I've seen at the Birchmere. I highly recommend seeing Tanya if you get the chance.
Tanya NEVER disappoints !! The show tonight was no exception . She came out looking absolutely stunning and launched into “ Some kind of Trouble “ her voice is absolutely amazing ! She paid tribute to some of her idols during the show and sang their songs exceptionally especially Tammy Wynette ‘s “ Stand by your man “ ! That one got one of many standing ovations from the crowd ! Tanya shared the stage with her lovely daughter Presley and Presley’s musical partner Spencer ( The Reverie lane Band ) !! These Girls are the real deal !! They sang 2 songs ! Incredible harmonies and a record deal to boot ! I can’t wait to get it !! If anyone hasn’t seen TANYA... GO !!!! SHE IS A TRUE LIVING LEGEND !!!!!!
Tucker put heart and soul into this performance. Songs balanced with personal reminisces that were not self sparing. She still has that voice! Keep an eye out for her daughter Presley who was backing her up. She is part of a duo called Reverie Lane. They did a country song to be released in October that had the audience in stitches. Cleverly written.
Great show had a lot of fun. Enjoy every minute of the concert.
Tanya is a Class Act. The Girl still has it! Band was Great!

Great show. Come back. I’ve seen her several times and she never loses the touch. Great entertainer.
