Tampa Bay Buccaneers Team History

The Buccaneers joined the NFL as an expansion team and played their first game in 1976. During the 1979 season, the Buccaneers became the first post-merger expansion team to win a division championship, a playoff game and host and play in a conference championship. They went on to win seven more division championships and captured their first Super Bowl win in 2003.

The Bucs beat the Oakland Raiders 48-21 in Super Bowl XXXVIII in Head Coach Jon Gruden's first season, making him the youngest head coach to win a Super Bowl at the time. With future Hall of Fame quarterback Tom Brady under center, the Buccaneers went on to win their second Super Bowl title at Super Bowl LV in 2021.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Raymond James Stadium

Insiders refer to the 65,618-seat Raymond James Stadium as the NFL's “crown jewel,” thanks to massive 2016 renovations that added one of the most modern HD video systems in the league. Additionally, every time the Buccaneers score a touchdown or field goal, a pirate ship moored in Buccaneer Cove celebrates with cannon fire.

Raymond James Stadium hosted Super Bowl LV on February 7, 2021, during which the Buccaneers beat the Kansas City Chiefs 31-9. The game marked the first time in Super Bowl history that a team played a championship game on their home turf.

    Seating

by Inge6 on 9/17/09Raymond James Stadium - Tampa

I paid $115 for my ticket and there were three seats empty on my left. Right after kick off two guys came down took the two seats and used their cell phone to call thier buddy for the extra seat which he took in about 15 minute. Consequently, there is no control on where people sit--------the ushers don't even check. In my opinion this is totally unaceptable. Not to mention they were all overweight and drunk which made it very uncomfortable. My buddy and I were going to go to the tampa-Giants, game but we said forget it

Cowboys first game of the season

by Skiter on 9/17/09Raymond James Stadium - Tampa

The game was good, but the Cowboys need to step it up a bit in both offensse and defense if they are going to the playoffs this years. I am hoping to see them there!

    What were they thinking!!??

by jobbq on 9/16/09Raymond James Stadium - Tampa

Knowing the event was close to being sold out, they did not staff the ticket windows properly! People were waiting in line for over an hour without any water available. The season ticket holders were in line with us because of a scanning problem and they would not open a window for them to resolve their issues. Because they had to wait in the same TWO lines as the others, the line came to an abrupt halt. The workers were allowing people to come up to the window and purchase tickets with the person in the front of the line even if they were not part of the line and were complete strangers!! I had 2 small children in front of me with their parents and so I sent my brother to an outskirt vendor with a $20 bill to purchase as much water for them and ourselves. When we finally got the opportunity to go in, 2nd quarter, we were excited until we found out they already had changed the direction of the escalators and my pregnant sister in law whom had been sitting in the heat for over an hour now had to walk up the ramps!! We bought 4 tickets but ended up needing 9 total the day of the event but were reassured that it would not be a problem getting tickets at window. We will NEVER go to another Bucs game again!! I felt terrible for the season ticket holders and I hope they get some compensation but being an ex season ticket holder myself, I am sure they will NOT!!

    The game was great

by cdiddy on 9/15/09Raymond James Stadium - Tampa

The football game between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs the Dallas Cowboys was a nice event to attend. The only problem I have is the heat factor at the game but with the game being in Florida that was expected. However, the atmosphere was nice and I do believe that I would attend other events at this venue just later in the year.

    Boys and Bucs in Tampa

by dallasmike on 9/15/09Raymond James Stadium - Tampa

Great time, especially liked the well coordinated group of Cowboy fans who "mocked" the cannon fire by yelling "boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom" in unison after a Cowboy score.

The weather was overcast, which was actually very nice. There were a couple of quick showers but that just helped cool off the losing Bucs Fans. The seats were good I don't think there is a bad seat in that stadium. Good times with Good people.

    Very Hott Seats

by Dallascowboyfanken on 9/14/09Raymond James Stadium - Tampa

Make sure you take plenty of sunscreen if you are on the 300 level because you will have a sun burn. If its a day game also make sure that you understand there is not a lick of shade for most people. other than that I enjoyed the Dallas Cowboys kicking their tail.

    Tickets are still overpriced.......

by buczboy on 9/14/09Raymond James Stadium - Tampa

I wanted to take the family to at least one game this year and none better then the home opener. Tickets are just getting too expensive, in these tough economic times it will take a couple months to pay off this one game trip. Over $300 for 4 quarters of football. I love the game but at these prices I'll just watch from the best seat....In my house!

    COWBOYS IN THE HOUSE!

    Bucs vs. Cowboys

by DNumberoneBucsFan on 9/14/09Raymond James Stadium - Tampa

The offense of the Bucs did an awesome job. Unfortunately the Bucs defense was inconsistent. With a quick long pass Romo easily put another 7 points on the board for the Cowboys. Ronde Barber made some great defensive plays. It as nice to see the offense had both great rushing from Cadillac, and also some awesome catches from Michael Clayton. The fans were friendly but to be honest it seemed like there was more noise from the Dallas fans. At one point the Dallas fans were celebrating a little too much and the crowd reacted.

    Buc vs Cowboys

by FootballFanForEver on 9/14/09Raymond James Stadium - Tampa

Only comment is how rude the Cowboys fans were. Drunk, abrasive, rub your nose in it style and class(less), vulgar and profanities all game long. I was glad when I left. As a season ticket holder it is sad to see how bad the local ecomony has affected ticjet sales. With that the closest fans come out. Wait until the Gaints game, I'm from the NE and I know that will be worse!

    C-boys Win!

by ShortyKok on 9/14/09Raymond James Stadium - Tampa

Great seats, but the cannons were loud. I'm glad the Dallas D kept the points down. It was hot as hell...... but plenty of area to get out of the sun.

Going to the Dallas/Tampa football game live was amazing; being able to see every play from the 15 yard line was awesome! The stadium workers were professional and friendly.

    Bucs vs Dallas

by TampaBucsFan on 9/14/09Raymond James Stadium - Tampa

This was a fantastic game even though the Bucs lost. There is no bad seats in Raymond James staduim. We were on the third deck, near the top. The staduim is well designed and you could see from anywhere.
