About

Taking Back Sunday is one of the most notable bands to emerge from emo’s third wave. The group, which formed in 1999 on Long Island, New York, has featured the lineup of vocalist Adam Lazzara, guitarist John Nolan, bassist Shaun Cooper and drummer Mark O'Connell for nearly two decades. TBS have released eight studio albums, including their 2002 platinum-certified debut Tell All Your Friends and four career Top 10 releases on the Billboard 200. After 2004’s “A Decade Under the Influence” became their first single to hit the Alternative Airplay chart, the quartet released their breakthrough 2006 effort Louder Now, led by the Hot 100-charting single “MakeDamnSure.” The band spent 2022 collaborating with the likes of Steve Aoki and The Maine before releasing their 2023 full-length, 152.

    Good show rude venue staff

    by Jacombjacobson on 7/28/23

Before the show venue staff refused to allow people to stand in the line area and forced all to move across the street even when one of the bands were doing a meet and greet in front of the venue

    Upgrade

    by Eric on 7/28/23

The venue was not completely sold out so they moved everyone inside and closed the lawn doors. Which was nice because it has been so hot lately.

Taking Back Sunday is still the best!

    by Tippy Shady on 7/28/23

Me and my daughter went to Sad Summer last weekend. Everything was wonderful. We have seen Taking Back Sunday 20+ times and they are still as wonderful now as they were back then. The venue was great, the security were the best and the event was everything and more. Thank you Ticket Master/Live Nation for the help on bringing them back to the Dallas area. Can't wait till next time!!!

    Mid

    by syd on 7/28/23

All of the bands were great except for the headliner, Taking Back Sunday. I have nothing else to say other than they kind of sucked. As for the venue, very nice, feels great with the lawn closed, but the drinks. I don’t know how you expect drinks not to be spilt when the cups lids do not stay on and the room is filled with a bunch of drunk people throwing it back and boogieing.

    Technical Problems Impacted Show

    by k t on 7/27/23

I’ve seen Taking Back Sunday. I think the bands sound was off compared to previous times. Between Adam’s voice slowly going and the huge technical mic problems, the show was not as good as other times. TBS still put on good showmanship but ultimately not as comparable as past. New bands like Stand Atlantic, Hot Mulligan, Sincere Engineer, etc definitely out performed in my opinion.

    Taking Back Sunday disappoints.

    by RokkynRobyn on 7/27/23

The venue was awesome! Drinks and food are SUPER expensive. Discovered new bands at SAD Summer but Taking Back Sunday was so disappointing. People were leaving in large groups when they were up next. After 2 songs I realized why. The performance was terrible by front man. Very disappointing and wish I'd seen them live years ago. The Maine was awesome!!

    Less than Extraordinary

    by Haley on 7/26/23

The lead singer began the concert by stating that they were better than the other bands that performed before them. Yet, he started to sing in a mumbling voice that was the worst of all the bands that performed that day. Not to mention his stage presence was horrible as we acted drugged out.

    If only Adam was sober

    by Dindae on 7/26/23

The show was sloppy. Adam gave long rambling banter in between songs while trying to figure out what song was next. Several people around me left during their set. The sad thing is there were still good moments in there so if he took it serious you know it would have been a great show.

    Good performances, bad marketing.

    by Copacanobra on 7/26/23

I thought all the bands that I heard sounded great and they had good energy. The place was just kinda empty. I don’t feel like y’all really marketed or promoted the event enough to get people there. After I bought my tickets I don’t think I saw one single ad or promotion about the event. Loved the bands though.

    by Sam on 7/25/23

I absolutely love going to shows at TCU Amp. I am so glad Sad Summer Fest finally decided to stop in Indy! I hope they come back again to the same venue! It was such a good experience. Staff made sure us in the pit had water in between sets.

    A Really Great Festival

    by Randi on 7/24/23

The whole vibe of the Sad Summer Fest was really chill and relaxed. My bestie and I had a great time! The way everything was set up was cool, the decorations were cute, there were photo ops everywhere, and this was some of the best festival merch I've ever seen! I love the Andrew J Brady venue, seen a few concerts there and they're always great. The sound system is amazing and all the bands sounded awesome! We had such a good experience!

Venue Sucked, Concert was Mid (Sad Summer Fest 2023)

    by TalosTheSlumpGod on 7/24/23

This was my first time going to Sad Summer Fest. I have previously been to festivals such as Riot Fest and Warped Tour so the bar was set pretty high. I did not have the highest expectations for this festival but it barely lives up to “acceptable”. Parking was easy to find, we spent $35 for the parking garage by Soldier Field (this was expected considering where Northerly Island is). I really appreciated that there was lots of time to meet the artists. The venue was stupid expensive, drinks started at $13.50 and then were taxed to high hell. Speaking of which when I originally ordered tickets, there was a $70 “Chicago” tax on them along with a $35 tax. The set up sucked. They should have had all standing space up until the permanent bleacher style seats, instead of the rows and rows of folding chairs that were zip tied super close together. We did not buy pit tickets but wished to upgrade them once we got there, to which we were told they were completely sold out despite the fact the pit was never more than half full nor was it ever similar to the energy brought at Warped Tour or Riot Fest. The crowd seemed to never really be into any of the artists. Talking Back Sunday just flat out sucked, they should not have been the headliner. The only thing that made this concert memorable was that it was the first I took my younger sister too, otherwise I wouldn’t waste my money on this again. And I will most certainly never come back to Huntington Bank Pavilion until LiveNation no longer runs it.
