    Great Day at the ballpark

by JumpingJosh on 6/3/11Cheney Stadium - Tacoma

Cheney Stadium was more than I expected. The seats were moderately comfortable until inning 7 and the view of the game was marvelous. The noise the students made from all the schools added excitement when they were cheering for the Rainiers. The food I bought (clams and chips) were nice and hot and they tasted great. Kudos for a good selection of food.

    Rainiers' Spanked 'Em

    by SlowHand1053 on 5/26/11Cheney Stadium - Tacoma

We watched a fantastic day game under blue skies in t-shirt weather. What a way to start my wife's birthday. Our Rainiers continue to their winning ways!

    great ball park

by moclipsmary on 5/24/11Cheney Stadium - Tacoma

This is how baseball should be experianced, the ball park is beautiful, seats comfortable. Hot dogs so so :-) As usual prices pretty high for drinks and food, but that is to be expected. Fan shop needs higher quality merchandise, sweat shirts are very thin and cheap looking. Not sure why we don't go more often since the park is so close, we both want to see some more games now

    What Happened to Cheney??

by baseballfella on 5/23/11Cheney Stadium - Tacoma

I Traveled some Distance and Stayed over in a Hotel on Friday and Sat. Night to Attend Tacoma Rainiers Game at Cheney Stadium. Have Been there previous years. I was looking Forward to the newly remodeled stadium. The weather was threatening. Raining on and off, but felt sure rain would hold back enough to get the game in. I was very happy to find out it was "Honor our Military Night". I had a nice time at the Game w/ my kids. I was not happy with the remodel to the stadium! They have ruined the Mojo that was once Cheney Stadium. It is VERY obvious that the Remodel to the stadium had NOTHING to do with enhancing the game or environment for the majority of the fans. It had everything to do with sucking in more money for the Rainiers. A good portion of the seating used to be covered. now next to NONE. While they did not raise Ticket Prices, they did dip into some kind of Public funded tax or bond to get the Money for this remodel of the stadium. Don't see going back! Concession Food is way tooooooo expensive for being in Farm system!

Rainers lost, but what fun! The refurbished stadium is great and the concessions are unbelievable. They even have vegi dogs that taste like real hot dogs. Because . . . what's a baseball game without a hotdog!

    WET!!!

    by ZAN1 on 5/12/11Cheney Stadium - Tacoma

It was very wet, damp but not too cold. We had a good time anyway. I was very disappointed that I couldn't upgrade my reserved seat ticket. There was an abundance of empty seats. Isn't is possible to get the better seats at game time anymore? I can't attend enough games to make it worth my while to buy a season ticket or a package plan. I still want to be able to upgrade if possible.

    lacks enthusiasm

by Anonymous on 5/10/11Cheney Stadium - Tacoma

I am not a particular fan of baseball or professional sports, but I like sporting events in general and enjoy college and high school competitions in particular. I went to the Rainiers game on Sunday with a group of friends. Although the new stadium is very comfortable and attractive, I was disappointed in the level of play of our home team. It wasn't that they lost the game, rather it seemed that they lacked interest. Maybe this is the way baseball is played but where's the hustle?! Certainly none of the players seemed to enjoy the game and I think that feeling is translated to the spectators.

Cheney Stadium worst ballpark experience ever

    by walla24 on 4/25/11Cheney Stadium - Tacoma

The mgmt at Cheney Stadium could best be descibed as incompetent. Per the Fire Marshal, the back gate was locked at the top of the 8th inning because fireworks was planned after the game. BECAUSE fireworks was planned, an estimated 200 parking stalls were eliminated for the fireworks to be set off. This exasperated the parking problem big time, forcing many to park several blocks away. Then to top it all off after the game, a jersey auction was held which tacked on an additional hour wait before the fireworks. The game started at 7:05. Fireworks concluded by 11:12. By the time we got home...almost 7 hours had passed. Cheney Stadium employees informed everyone that we could walk around the stadium, but this was hardly an option when you have elderly or small children in your group.

    Tacoma Rainiers

by cheztercat on 4/21/11Cheney Stadium - Tacoma

We had a wonderful time. It was good-time for us and the kids. The people at the park(workers) were very nice. The only thing I can say is the price is a little High and we won't be able to go as much. But if you've never gone, you should, at least do it once.

The new venue needs to get a uniform time to open the gates. Opening night was 2 hours prior to game time, second night was 1 hour prior, third game (day) was 1 and 1/2 hours ahead. The people working the games were told one hour prior would be standard, and they couldn't explain the difference. We waited in the parking lot for over 20 minutes for the second game's opening which wasn't all that bad had it not been for the new luxury seating opening much earlier in front of everyone that was waiting. Didn't go over well with a lot of people. Gave the appearance of caring more for the luxury folks, and not the folks that have supported them for years.

    renovated cheney

    by billiken2 on 4/19/11Cheney Stadium - Tacoma

Starting time of 1:40 hopefully will be moved to an earlier time to enhance chances of more sun!. PCL ruling of disallowing peanuts to be brought in sucks big time. reverse of safeco field by the way..box seats are cozy and view is great everywhere we didn't try the berm but only half of it was available to the patrons. WHY?.concessions were OK for ballpark fare and my fave, garlic fries, were in abundance. no non-alcoholic beverages were available and i feel this should be addressed. O'doul's or Sharps beer are great alternatives to the others hardly a bad seat in the stadium. overall, 4 stars.

    Last Minute Fun!

    by Floyd5 on 4/18/11Cheney Stadium - Tacoma

We decided very last minute based upon the weather and we had a great time at the park. The stadium is nice and we saw other venues we'd like to try for other games. The food items were new and tasted good...we tried the Super Nachos and Garlic Fries (better than Safeco's, not drowned in garlic). My only qualm is that the TicketMaster site won't let you select a specific section and there were lots of empty seats I would rather have had if they were available. We selected "Best Available" a couple of times to get near where we wanted, but ultimately we were happy with what we got.

    Opening Night 2011

by Wetmom on 4/18/11Cheney Stadium - Tacoma

Beautiful new stadium on opening night - only problem was NO ROOF! They built a brand new stadium in WA state for outdoor baseball and did away with roof covering for their "bread and butter" fans! Suite boxes had a roof, but the rest of us "average joes" got nothing. What were you thinking Tacoma Rainiers?

    We need a roof

by Soundertillidie on 4/18/11Cheney Stadium - Tacoma

Besides no roof and the non stop rain it was a great night. Also in row one we need more room for knees I felt crammed in and was uncomfortable.

    Expectations Met!

by PapaRob on 4/17/11Cheney Stadium - Tacoma

I have been attending games at Cheney Stadium on a regular basis since 1994. I was blown away by the transformation of the new Stadium. There is no resemblance of the old Stadium.Other than the foot print. Even that is larger than original. I thought it was strange for a fan that has been attending games at Cheney Stadium for sixteen years to have to ask security for directions, really was unusual. I was in Commercial Construction 31 years before retiring three years ago.I have also attended Ball games in San Fransisco, Oakland, Los Angles, San Diego, Kansas City, Chicago and New York.I am confident when I say the Quality of Construction and the thought that went into designing the new facility exceeded even my expectations I tip my hat to all those people that made this happen. You have truly created a Diamond that was in the rough.
